Having completed the first area of Ring Fit Adventure in a couple of sessions, I'm really impressed by the Ring-Con. The uses in this game alone are impressive enough, with pusing in and holding to jump and hover being my favourite so far. Hopefully there are more actions that can be done.
So what of other games? How could the Ring-Con be used? Being a racing game enthusiast, the obvious idea is a steering wheel and a Joy-Con strapped to each foot for gas and brake. I would love it if g game was released using this.
Those would be nice to have it would kill the couch potato experience though....lol. But seriously I think this is only the start next will be a two play game using the Ring/Strap. I suspect this is where Nintendo is going and maybe more players or players vs players games. But with this return I think Developers are starting to look at games encompassing this feature as well and I will be hard press they aren't thinking this right now.
@SwitchForce You could be on to something. I can actually imagine a two player Ring-Con game where you shoot and catch balls by squeezing the Ring-Con to shoot the ball to your opponent, and opening it to catch the ball.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
I had been yearning for a MotionPlus WarioWare game since the Wii era (imagine the possibilities!). But what did we get? Bugger all.
I had also been yearning for a stereoscopic 3D instalment for the 3DS, but what did we get? A 2D-only "greatest hits" compilation after a decade of being stuck with nothing BUT those past games. Had Nintendo released a new game for the 3DS followed by "Gold", I would have raised no objection, but to keep us hanging for nearly a decade only to release the same old material again...
Those days are behind us, sadly, but the Joy-Con, with their IR camera, NFC reader, and HD rumble can open up a world of possibilities, but I fear that Nintendo won't even consider it. Nintendo kept us waiting nearly a decade only to come out with a "greatest hits" collection, Wario Land hasn't had a new instalment in I can't even remember how long. It's a shame that an IP usually filled to the brim with brilliant ideas is laying dormant like this.
I would even be content with a port of Smooth Moves at this point, which is arguably the best that the series has to offer, and the local multiplayer activites are absolutely brilliant, and always a riot to play at parties.
Well apart from Mario & Luigi (though AlphaDream went bankrupt) and WarioWare so far, all the 1st party 3DS "exclusive" ports/remakes/remasters/collections since the Switch came out have had a new game on the Switch.
Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia -> Three Houses
Metroid: Samus Returns -> Prime 4
Luigi's Mansion: Luigi's Mansion -> Luigi's Mansion 3
Kirby: Extra Epic Yarn -> Star Allies (release dates were the other way around but still fits)
Mario Party: Top 100 -> Super Mario Party

I know anyone not thinking this is missing the bandwagon. Just watching the Demos is enough to tell you there is more to this then just a exercise game. And I doubt that is all Nintendo is going to sit on their butts about this. lol.....
A WarioWare game with the Ring-Con would be amazing, but I can't see it happening because the Ring-Con would be an expensive barrier to entry. If they just released a normal WarioWare game with a side mode that used it, that would work, but Nintendo doesn't often make much use of their own peripherals outside of the games they come bundled with. For example, although there are quite a lot of Wii games that are compatible with the Balance Board or Zapper, only a few of them are published by Nintendo. That said, Nintendo has added Labo support to a few of their other games so maybe they'd be willing to do something similar with the Ring-Con.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Switch Online
