Hello good people. Recently got the OLED Switch Splatoon 3 edition and very thrilled.
Just wanted to make sure about something that might not be of a concern. The right joycon doesn’t fix as sturdy as the left one. It slightly moves when I try to move it in the lower part. The left side doesn’t move at all. Nothing is out the ordinary while playing though and it make the clicking sound normally when sliding it down the console.
Do you think that’s normal?
Thanks
@guardianoftime As long as it does no slide out of the console it is ok BUT this might cause some friction and possible faster wear and tear.
Also with so many Switches manufactured it is understandable that not all of the joycons will be fit snugly. Which is ALSO not an excuse for the extremely poor build quality of the joycons!
@guardianoftime I do not know about that but right from the start (2017) I've put tiny vinyl tape squares on the bottom of my Switch rails so that my joyvons do not move much when I play.
Also keep in mind that you have to something extreme in order to actually break it off
@Zuljaras I understand; I owned a Switch before but I forgot if I ever had this issue; maybe my unit is still new that's why I'm concerned.
So in theory, this is normal for all Switches right? nothing to be concerned about? I used my V1 Switch for 3 years and never had any issues with it (even if the joy-cons were wobbling).
thanks again!
@guardianoftime My guess that it is normal. If you want a replacement you will probably get one but there is no guarantee that it will not be wobbly again
@Zisssou it usually happens when pressing the home button where the joy-con goes back and forth a tiny bit. I would have added a grip as you suggested, but it would be a shame to cover up the Splatoon 3 joy-cons
EDIT: Oops. Zuljaras already suggested that above. I didn't read all the posts, as you can see. /EDIT
@guardianoftime Nintendo will say that's normal (even if its undesirable). If you want to make the joycon fit more snug, you can put a piece of masking tape on the rail of the joycon. That's how I snugged up a joycon on my V1 switch. It worked surprisingly well. Since I almost never took the joycons off, I didn't mind the tape, since it's hidden when the joycons are attached. A single layer was all that was needed. Using a couple neatly trimmed pieces, I put the tape on the two flat spots of the rail (the flat spot at the end, and the flat spot at the middle).
Another pair of joycons may fit more snugly, but obviously, that's a pricey gamble, since there's no guarantee the new ones will fit more snugly.
@WoomyNNYes wow! Tried your method and worked like a charm! It doesn’t even show since it’s black. I’m also able to remove and put the joy-con normally. They should add this process in the user’s guide 😂.
Thanks again guys, you all made my day.
Merry Christmas and Happy new year again.
Cheers to all.
With the manufacturing of the Joy-Con rails and connecting points there could be defeats as well or some measure of differences but I use Grips from a KS I pledge and one of their new one Amazon. But that one isn't the same as the original one because of the kickstand. I do wish there grip had more grip and not hard plastics. But only time I take out is to charge or insure it charges or transport but I left it on so far but just have to push or wobble it to make contact to charge.
