Honestly of the three sports I probably had the most fun with Chambara, definitely a fair bit more strategy in it than the sword fighting game in Resort. In some ways it almost reminds me of Arms but maybe a tad slower paced. One guy came in flailing about which caught me off guard in one round and I think there were two rounds where it was a draw. Other than that I won every round and in turn every game. @Serpo I'm fairly sure it forces both players to have the same selection, the few games I played I picked single sword once and in that game my opponent also got a single sword.
Tennis? Felt a bit one dimensional. There's definitely a fair bit more control of the ball than there was in Wii Sports. Like a LOT more control. But at the end of the day it's still basically just move the controller with the right timing. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad by any stretch and there's definitely some depth here. I just feel like Tennis has always been that one game in the "Wii Sports" style of games that lost something by going with motion controls. By removing character position you remove one of the biggest strategy elements of a tennis video game, I'd rather play something like Mario Tennis. In the end I won about half of the matches
Bowling? Is bowling. Does what it says. I probably need a little bit of brain rewiring before I'm any good at it but. Obviously with bowling the optimal strategy is to curve the ball from near the gutter to between the 1 & 2 pins. In Wii Sports & Resort I got pretty good at that. In Switch Sports? Spin is a lot more sensitive. I think if you had enough spin on it you could probably bowl from the right gutter and spin all the way into the left gutter. First game I came dead last because I didn't realise you had to hold onto ZR for the whole throw. Best I got was 4th
I also played the online play test and I had my fun with it. Well, except the 5 or so connection errors when I first started, that was pretty frustrating. I liked them all, they're fun in their own ways, but I think I liked tennis the most.

@Anti-Matter I registered for the online play test by going to the official Nintendo Switch Sports website, finding the online play test section, then getting the download code from My Nintendo. They're having the online play test on certain times throughout the weekend. You'll be able to see the times when the play test will happen.

But Motion Controls and moving Character position are not mutually exclusive! They could easily make a tennis game where you handle the motion controls with the right joycon while moving position with the left joystick. I don't get why Nintendo still won't do it.
So I was able to play for nearly an hour and here are my thoughts:
I can't believe they turned Bowling into a battle royale but oh my god it's so fun.
Chambara was as fun as I expected it to be, really good honestly.
Tennis was just ok, it didn't really feel like I was controlling it, moreso it felt like I was just timing my shots since you can't really move around (at least to my knowledge)
THE MUSIC IS BOPPING. Bowling's especially sounds like it came straight out of Miitopia. The main menu is also wonderful.
The motion controls worked very well for the most part. There were a few instances in Chambara where the sword could get a bit wonky at times but other than, A+.
I thankfully only had 1 D/C in Bowling. Otherwise, the connection worked perfectly.
Overall? I'm genuinely thinking about picking it up now come April, it's the perfect game to play with my friends/family, along with much to do on my own as well. Great stuff all around.

I didn't play the online test, but I was already sold on this game.
Wii Sports is one of my favorite past times. I had so much fun with that game back in the day. Just seeing a new entry releasing on Switch was enough to hype me over the moon. Bowling and golf is my jam!
But seeing everyone else enjoying it so much is making me feel very impatient now, as I realize the game is still 2 months away.
Ah well. Triangle Strategy demo is super good (only have one chapter left until the demo ends at the end of chapter 3, which sucks, but the game will be out in less than 2 weeks). And Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection just releases. And Horizon FW. Guess those games will have to keep me occupied in the meantime. And we still have Kirby next month. Can't forget about that. So there's plenty to play between now and then.
Still... I really wanna play Switch Sports!

If someone receives a questionnaire after the online beta, please tell Nintendo that they should add movement controls (via Joystick) to Tennis.
I've already found the lack of joystick controls disappointing in the original Wii Sports Tennis, and in 2022 this is inexcusable. It's like the game is playing for you.
I think Switch Sports should be a free game for Nintendo online subscription. It should be like Tetris 99, free to play online but you pay for offline.
I had planned to enter in the online testing but couldn't due to other responsibilities but I am glad to hear others had fun with it! honestly I wasn't expecting to see a Wii Sports successor last direct but sure glad we did. after watching several videos on the matter, I can honestly say I like the new avatars since they look like amped up versions of the Animal Crossing villagers rather the usual lifeless mii look
would be an interesting direction to go if these new avatars became the new miis. imagine the possible customizations!

Tennis is my least favorite, seems like the motion controls are very limited in this one.
Sword fighting is second, controls were good. I totally didn’t turn duel of the fates on every time I got in a match. Totally.
Bowling is the best although it is pretty easy. Just aim at the middle pin and keep the joy on flat and you will get a strike nearly every time. Like speed does not matter.

By the way here is the schedule for the rest of the playtime testing.

Just to hear some feedbacks here about Switch Sports, it made me feel granted with my Kinect Sports 1 & 2, Kinect Adventures & Deca Sports Freedom on XBOX 360 I bought last December 2020.
Had really fun with the Online Test. Bowling Royal was a great way to play the sport, very addicting and fun. Sword fights likewise, so much fun and very strategic. Tennis was also fun, just a bit difficult to get the ball where I wanted it to. Regarding the new "Mii" characters: I actually like them and they look more modern. A cool thing, it looked really nice on my OLED 4K TV, suppose the AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution had part in that!!
@Serpo single sword has the most powerful charge thing, so some may choose it for that (i didn't). but you're right, tennis is still the best. I do miss boxing though.

if you do this ask them to make it optional. i like the way it is, it makes it more realistic when im just swinging my joycon across my living room. but i have seen a lot of people asking for this so it should be implemented. if this is implemented, people with joystick controls on should not be paired with people who have joystick controls off in online play as it wouldn't be fair.

chambara was fun, but it was so confusing to be blocking and striking because it was so laggy. and the way you had to calibrate the sword(s) every round. they weren't moving with you at all. they were so wonky by the end of the round. hopefully, it can improve by release.
bowling was great, but it wish they had a non-battle royale mode. i just want to play regular bowling. i do love the way you can now spin the ball now.
tennis was amazing, it brings back many memories and its so great. my sister and I had so much fun with it.
the only thing for me is that maybe split-screen play could work on tabletop mode, so it should at least be an option.
but overall i love it and im preordering.
also the music is really good, but the title screen music is ok.
i really hope they make a DLC for this game with lots more options from Wii Sports Resort.
This game definitely needs more content. The fact that Resort came out almost 15 years ago, has more than double the content, and was half the price is just really sad. This game seems like a massive step back, even from the first entry.
Granted, I obviously haven't played it yet, but judging almost every review I've seen, I think it's fair to say that this game just doesn't have enough content. Both on its own, and as a continuation of the Sports legacy. I'm gonna be sticking to Resort, which has 12 games, each with multiple different modes.
