The tension is so thick, you could cut it with a knife. It'll be exciting once the system is revealed, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little sad. Soon enough, we'll be done with the wild speculation phase and actually see this thing, and have definitive answers. It's been a super long road, and it'll be nice to finally be able to relax about release date speculation. Still, we've been at this for so long, I'll kind of miss it in some weird way. But hey, at least then we'll finally be able to put this constant release window speculation behind us and move on to hyping up the actual games on this thing.

Just saying, if you don't want the Switch Successor spoiled, I suggest trying to avoid these leaks sooner rather than later. Supposedly, how it looks and possibly more info has been leaked.

I shouldn't be hyped cause I'm still very skeptical but it's hard not to feel the energy around here!😂
Edit: And of course the minute I say that I see the factory leaks lol

I don't really have that much hype with next Switch machine when I still finding code in box and partial download treatments for Switch games especially the 3rd party games, even the 1st party Switch games also.
I wonder if Nintendo with solve that issue and not allowed that dirty business practice in video gaming when they still sell Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with code in box, not the full game with DLC in cartridge.
I know Nintendo want to push the sales target eclipsing PS2 sales by make peoples buy their machine but with that lazy effort by selling Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle again with download code, it doesn't look attractive for me.

NoA's been silent today so far when considering America timezones.

@Grumblevolcano Been keeping an eye on it all day. Wonder if this is leading to some form of announcement. The whole internet seems to be going pretty crazy today.

@Grumblevolcano I noticed that as well. If speculation is right, we'll be hearing something tonight (or tomorrow depending on region). A normal Nintendo Direct probably isn't in the cards this week, but we could at least get a Switch 2 presentation/Direct

Are we past the normal direct announcement time

FragRed

@FawfulsFury Yes but nothing has been posted on Nintendo of America Twitter yet so there’s potential for something to be announced later. Also the Switch announcement was really late in the day. Way past normal announcement times.

@PikminMarioKirby September feels too soon for a Switch successor announcement. Nintendo could produce millions of units tomorrow, yet decide to sit on them until holiday 2025. Which is my assumption. This holiday season will be the OG Switch's last as Nintendo's only platform.

If Nintendo truly want to curb second party sellers / Ebay flippers (as they're on record for mentioning), they'll have tens of millions of Switch 2 units ready to roll out, not just a couple or few million.

@Magician How do you sit on millions of units and not have it leak before you can officially reveal it?

I feel more positive about there being a Switch 2 announcement than others who have been speculating. Mostly because I think getting the Switch 2 launch right is more important to Nintendo than any holiday sales.

They need to get the messaging right because for a lot of people the original Switch is still fine, it will still play Fortnite and Mario Kart for probably years to come, which is honestly all many people need. So as much time and space Nintendo can give to advertise the merits of buying a new system, and show all the exclusive games that are coming, and give time for 3rd party developers to announce ports of popular games the better.

The big caveat is that it's very stupid to try and speculate with any confidence about Nintendo, they do what they want, when they want!

@FragRed I don't pretend to know the logistics. But for comparison, PS5 sold what...20 million units in its first year? Yet it was still difficult to obtain at retail a couple years in. If Nintendo are going to actually tackle the issue, they'd better flood the market with their new console at launch. Otherwise it's nothing but pretty-speak.

Here in the eastern U.S. it seems that whenever Nintendo has big news to share, it's at 9 am (10 am more recently) in the morning or 10 pm at night.

Nintendo just retweeted a IGN tweet. So that’s their first post of the day. Kinda weird. Wonder if they just decided not to tweet anything themselves because of the insane rumours going around, or if there’s still an announcement to come.

Yeah NoA has been suspiciously quiet today so far.

I know it's probably just the general vibe getting to me, but today feels...weird. It's probably just me subconsciously reading the room though.

I don’t have Twitter/X, but how many tweets does NoA usually make in a day? I’m assuming that on normal days their tweets are on already announced games and showcase trailers. Just asking since it seems like from what some people have been saying, it implies they have been super quiet as of late compared to how they usually are. I kind of don’t expect anything significant this week besides the SNES drop they announced yesterday.

EDIT: I should add that I don’t think that their tweeting schedule is going to lead to a Direct or any big announcement.
