Since fortnite and apple are at odds, we had to get a switch to play mobile fortnite. He still plays on Xbox. I've set up his nintendo account and linked it to Epic account. He signs into his fortnite on Switch and sees his friend's account. How do we change to his account? Help.. I'm old and this is confusing. lol.

@Tanresch The Epic Games/Fortnite account is tied to an email, I thought. Isn't it one fortnite player account per email? If you don't know the answer, that's ok. I only set up one fortnite account, myself.

Edit: If your kid signed in as his friend, then you'll probably have to un-link that Switch user from that Fortnite/Epic Games account(done in-game, in Fortnite settings). Then sign in with the correct email & password? This is an educated guess. I'm pretty sure that's what you'll have to do. I could be wrong.

Side note: I've gotten a quick response from Epic Games support via email. On a weekday, it took 2.5 hours for a response. Which is respectable turnaround time, I thought.

Correct- one email per account. I have no idea how we got into the friend's account. I've unlinked multiple times and re-linked with no success. When logging into fortnite, it states that there is already that screen name being used; then we go to log in via email and password but it says log in failed and retry. We retry and it just tries to log in forever..I've tried epic games support and they gave me links to "unlink" the account. It seems like we will need to create a second fortnight account for switch instead of linking his xbox account to this one. Is that the right course of action?

Something smells off if Fornite support can fix then something is going on here. Did you tell them you were linked to another different console account before this? If you create a new account that email address will still be a issue.

@Tanresch Are you sure you're not just seeing your son's Fortnite friend? You can add friends in Fortnite.

Or, did your kid by chance have a friend over, and did that friend log into Fortnite on your console?

If it's not either of those, forgive me, I'm just trying to make sense of what you're seeing. Otherwise, at this point, I'm not sure what to recommend.

Thank you for your help! I do appreciate your insight. No, this kid has not been over for a long time (8 months). I do not know if my kid had this friend's login..but whatever. I did log my kid into fortnite with a slightly different username and I suspect therefore creating a new account for him. He then figured out that this may be the best way to go about the problem as he can then allow his friends to play when they do not have their account or device...so problem solved...kinda. Maybe I'm confused on whether the players can use the same fortnite username on the switch as the xbox...because we thought that was what we were doing and it did not work. Maybe it is because our epic games account was also linked to the gmail account ... I don't know. Kid is satisfied so, I can get back to work. Thanks again.

Delete the Fortnite save file in Switch options.
Obviously your sons friends Fortnite account is registered and linked to your sons Switch account.
