...Surprised there isn't a thread for this yet. So originally, I was not interested in this game...I mean, why bother when the sequel has what the first game had and SO MUCH MORE? Right?
That is, until, the Monster Hunter account posted this little clip of Nargacuga.
"Conceal your presence with the stealth riding action, exclusive to Nargacuga and its subspecies and deviant."
....DEVIANT.
Deviants were never in the first Stories game....ARE THEY ADDING CONTENT?!
Okay, now I'm curious, how much are they going to add? All of the monsters/monsties from Stories 2? Will they go beyond that? I heard that Stories 2 had so much cut content due to COVID so maybe they're bringing it into this game?

Keep it PG-13-ish.
This thread reminds me that I need to place an order for a Japanese physical copy.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,419 games (as of March 10th, 2025)

I loved the second one so much I went back and picked up the first one on Mobile and it was... not a pleasant experience. Looking forward to getting to experience this properly with a new release.
@Groovz
I want the games in physical thing, not the digital code that I can't feel their presence.
I hate the convenience from being digital only.
Selling the games with digital codes, in my opinion is a straight disrespect the customers.
I consider them as a scam.
I've been playing this for a couple of weeks, and I'm enjoying it a lot. Since I played MHS2 first, some of the stuff here feels a bit simplistic compared to the sequel, but I do like the fact that the monsters' behaviour in battle is less predictable than in 2, so the fights are more tense. Also, the online battles against other players in this game are more fun than the co-operative online hunting the second game had.
Also, like many others I was disappointed that Capcom decided to release the physical version of the game in the West only as a part of full-price compilation that includes MHS2 as a download. Since I alread have the sequel, I didn't want to pay for it for the second time. So I ordered the cheaper Japanese physical version that only has MHS1. I'm happy to say that it does include the English localisation, and all the content is complete on the cartridge, so far there's been no patches or other updates needed.
My order for a Japanese copy arrived. I've now played a few hours, roughly the same I played of the 3DS version years ago. In terms of 3DS-to-Switch ports...this is right there with Monster Hunter Generations. The additional power of the Switch means less pop-in and a smoother framerate. And the added voicework brings an extra degree of quality.
However the glow up isn't as well done as say...Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Here the restrictions of the platform of origin are evident in the world around you. Textures of the open areas are sparse and lack detail. It's a constant reminder you're playing a game with portable roots.
Still the game is great and the option to speed up combat is appreciated.
Looking forward to playing more.
