"Konami, in celebration of its 50th anniversary, will be releasing three Anniversary Collections that highlight Castlevania, Contra, and its Arcade Classics.

"These Anniversary Collections will be available digitally on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC and will each include a bonus eBook that is "packed with new information about the titles, including interviews with the development staff, behind-the-scenes insights, and sketches and design documents never before revealed to the public!"

"The first collection available will be the Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection on April 18, 2019, and for $19.99 plays will gain access to eight games from the '80s - Haunted Castle, Typhoon (A-JAX), Nemesis (Gradius), Vulcan Venture (Gradius II), Life Force (Salamander), Thunder Cross, Scramble, and TwinBee.

"Next up is the "first" Konami Castlevania Collection, which will be available in early Summer 2019 and is "designed to be a completed collection around the origins of the historic franchise."

The Castlevania collection will feature eight games as well, but only four - Castlevania (NES), Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge (GB), Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (NES), and Super Castlevania IV (SNES) - have been announced as of yet.

"Lastly, the Contra Anniversary Collection will also arrive in early Summer 2019 and will feature eight games, of which only four - Contra (Arcade), Super Contra (Arcade), Super C (NES), and Contra III: The Alien Wars (SNES) - have been announced."

I am tempted by that Arcade collection as well as the Castlevania collection. But while they're no BadLand Publishing, I'm still not enthusiastic about buying Konami products

Physical release please, Konami.

Or I'll just wait for a 50%+ discount on the digital version.

Why are they holding back on announcing the remaining titles. Are they implying there will be another Castlevania collection based on the wording of their announcement?

@Magician You'll be waiting. Part of the announcement was that they are digital exclusive.

I knew that already, thanks.

And...that's fine. I have most of the Castlevania games on other platforms anyhow (1, 2, 3, and 4 on 3DS. SotN and Rondo on PSP/Vita.) It's just that as a collector of Switch games it would be nice to have a box on the shelf. So I still hold out hope that Japan might get a physical release for something that is a digital-only release for NA and EU. Just look at Okami, Onimusha, The Phoenix Wright trilogy, and the Beat'em Up Bundle from Capcom.

The arcade collection is underwhelming. How can you have an ‘80’s arcade collection without Frogger? A 90’s arcade collection would be nice (maybe if these sell well?)

Not really interested in Contra unless it has the NES port of the first and the Japanese version of Hard Corps (or an option to play that version).

Castlevania is already shaping up to be great. I’m guessing the unannounced titles will be Bloodlines/The New Generation, X68000 Castlevania, Dracula X and Rondo of Blood (assuming Sony doesn’t have some exclusivity deal). An HD version of Adventure Rebirth would be nice, but it sounds like they’re focusing on the earlier titles.

Man i cannot WAIT to get my hands on the castlevania collection. I know it's kinda assumed it'll be $20. But I just can't wrap my brain around how it'll be that cheap for 8 castlevania games.

Magician

I assume the last four unannounced games are, Castlevania II and all of the GBA games .

Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow.

I'm so down for the Castlevania collection. I have so many feels for Belmont's Revenge. It was probably my most played Gameboy game. Amazing design. Shockingly, I haven't played any of the other early entries, so it's about time. And there will be four more games?!

I may hold out for a while and see if they will produce a physical edition. Would much rather have this on a cartridge.

I'm super pumped to play a castlevania gameboy game on the big screen in all honesty.

As someone who has never played through a Castlevania game I am interested in this. Is there any chance that Symphony of the Night will be included or is there some kind of licensing deal preventing that?

Certainly possible, but unlikely. Konami released the Requiem double pack (Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood) on PS4 late last year. I assume that double pack will end up on Switch eventually. Which is why I doubt SotN will be included in this classics collection.

I can’t decide between Switch or PS4 to download Castlevania collection. Is there even an advantage of PS4 over the Switch version?

I hope the Contra collection has Contra 4 on it. Probably my favorite DS game I have.
