Topic: Is this the year for Madden and/or UFC on Switch? 2022 Edition.

About a year ago we had those new hire positions over at EA specifying Nintendo Switch development. Or is Burnout Paradise the best we Switch owners can expect to be given? Although if I were being honest, considering the quality of both Madden and UFC franchises, I'd probably prefer NHL over either.

I hope madden comes to switch because football is the only sport I am really into that gets games. But I doubt it.

Currently playing: Pokemon Soul Silver, Mario RPG

Would love a ufc game on switch 🤔

I'd love Madden to come to the Switch, I'd easily but hours and hours into it

Sadly I just don't see EA ever doing it - best we could hope for is the NFL game that 2K is working on, which I think is out next year

Unfortunately, EA still holds all the rights for "simulation" football. What Take Two Interactive will be delivering by resurrecting the 2K series is "arcade" (a.k.a. - NFL Blitz) football, not simulation football. Hopefully it'll be better than their NBA offering, NBA 2K Playgrounds 2. Which is hot garbage, imo.

There is that, but I'm holding out hope that any 2K arcade game will be more fun than anything else currently on the switch in times of American football

No love for Mutant Football League?

Although that game has its share of issues.

@Magician there is a rumor on Twitter from Madden 23 leaks that Madden is working with Nintendo on a deal that will bring Madden 24 to Switch.

Given a choice, I'd prefer the next NHL game to be released on Switch.

Of the two I'd imagine Madden is the more likely candidate (I believe UFC is an even more niche brand?), but if it hasn't happened by now I don't think it ever will (as far as Switch is concerned).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I wonder if next year will be the year? I'm assuming the Switch 2 or Pro (whatever) is released in the 1st half of 2024. Madden releases in August and NHL in October, I could see both of those. Would they bother putting them on the Switch when they could focus on the new hardware?

Whatever EA does with rebranding FIFA, I expect the full version of that to be on the new console. 2024 could be a big year for sports games on Nintendo hardware!!

I'm under the assumption Plants vs Zombies did not sell well enough for EA to commit to bringing the Madden or UFC games over to the Switch.

That or there's still a tinge of EA regretting their support of the Wii U.

I don't know.
