Hello guys so I have a little problem with the switch.

So when I was doing all the settings when I first got the switch I couldn't do the TV settings where you have to do the pattern code and everything so I decided to skip the TV settings for the switch and played the switch normally.

Now that I want to try and put the switch again on the TV, I can't seem to find any settings that allows me to put the switch on for the TV.

May you please help me.

What pattern code are you referring to?

Seems like your talking about the Wii u

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

Dr_dreads

@Mountain_Man So normally it shows like 4 pictures on the TV and you have to copy it on the switch to get accepted.

I believe the pictures are like Hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds.

@1UP_MARIO I can see where you are coming from as the Wii U had the pattern also.

But I swear the switch had a pattern also.

...Yeah we're lost, what do you mean play the Switch normally, in portable mode? If the dock is connected to the TV via HDMI then it should show up when the TV is on the right input...

@Joeynator3000 Sorry my English terrible..

So I put the hdmi in the TV and followed all the things you had to do and it doesnt work.

I checked tv settings on the switch and cant see anything like "Connect to tv" or something

You mean it looks like this? Cuz that's the WiiU. Not the Switch.
That's why the picture says WiiU

@JackEatsSparrows Oh weird. I thought I had that for the switch also as I only just bought the switch.

So how do I get the switch to work on the TV then? You just put the controller in the weird box and connect the hdmi and that is all?

Dr_dreads

HobbitGamer

@Dr_dreads Yes. The 'weird box' is the dock, and you connect the HDMI and AC cords that came with it. That puts the signal on the tv, and some other magic. You're placing the Switch in that dock. Joycon controllers come off the sides.

The system itself connects inside the dock, the controllers on the side can detach and be used when playing this way.
The whole pattern thing was for the Wii U, because the Gamepad could be used as a TV remote. The Switch does not have this.

Did you try to plug the charger cord into the dock? I won't work without it. There's a slot where you plug it in on the inside of the pannel. Hopefully this helps you @Dr_dreads.

That's what I was beginning to think. I got two HDMI on my TV one the BD player and one the Dock.

@SwitchForce Yeah Hdmi cables can be confusing if you don't know what all the settings are used for but at least the problem solves.

Maybe whoelse has this problem this might help them.
