@Banjo- As far as the DLSS goes, I don't think that we'll be seeing it often if at all running on Nintendo's own games which is such a shame (can you imagine how beautiful a new Zelda could be running the tech) based on what Digital Foundry have to say on the subject so far, more your clever 3rd party devs who have already incorporated the tool into their own engines and find some smart way of scaling it down to run OK on Switch 2 hardware.

@IceClimbers I got MK8 as part of the Wii U bundle, then didn't buy it on Switch on principal. And I have the MKW Switch 2 bundle ordered. So by my calculations I bought MK8 + DLC(WiiU) + MKW for a total of less than the £75 RRP that MKW physical costs.

@Dhaladog I agree with that, DLSS is too taxing for Switch 2, so its use will be quite limited. New technologies applied to development are helpful, but not free.

Although the power of Switch 2 in docked mode can be compared to base PS4 in terms of graphical capabilities and performance, Switch 2 has some modern advantages like the faster storage, but I was expecting better loading times in Breath of the Wild, to name an old one. Storage speed is not a drastic improvement if we compare it to Switch.

I'm curious about the differences between docked and handheld mode, not loading times, but resolution and performance. Switch 2 uses 10 watts at most in handheld mode which is a very low figure. Of course, this won't be a problem for Switch games, but I'm talking about new Switch 2 games and the PS4/Xbox One ports.

Lastly, I've seen a lot of people discussing Mario Kart World costing $90. I don't know if the price in USA has been confirmed, but in EU the price of the game is €90. Generally, Nintendo's dollar price matches Nintendo's euro price, so it's likely that somebody used the € figure to deduce the $ price. I'm not that person, I'm just explaining the reason. That said, Nintendo has not always matched € with $. [EDIT: I just saw Gamestop has Mario Kart World for $80]

Although the price in USA does not include taxes, as opposed to EU, the conversion is not 1:1 either, so the equivalence is closer than it looks. €90 is $100 approximately, so some companies including Nintendo have decided to match the € and $ prices quite often. The price of Nintendo Switch is €470 and the price of the bundle is €510. However, the bundle sold out very quickly, so it became irrelevant in a matter of hours. It's possible that Nintendo will make the bundle easy to find in the future, but didn't they say it was a limited offer?

About the general configuration of Switch 2, Digital Foundry talked about the old chip technology and size and speculated on a revision with a smaller chip size and a bigger battery in a couple of years. Not only a bigger battery brings more battery life, but a smaller chip technology is even more important, as the second version of Switch proves. In my opinion, it was a mistake choosing an old big size chip and a small battery for the launch model at this price. The third mistake I see is the limited storage, considering that the only possible expansion is the more expensive express cards, that most Switch owners don't have because they were not required on Switch.

All things considered, it's not the no-brainer upgrade I was expecting, especially when you consider the paid upgrades and the different expansion format. It's also important to consider that not all games are going to be upgraded, that there won't be an automatic boost mode like on other consoles and that some games are not even compatible. Lastly, the price of the console itself and the new games is above what most people were expecting.

Was the use of “Shill” an error of typing his channel name

Nope, it's a bit of inside-baseball, a running joke.

While I'm not particularly happy about Mario Kart World being $80, I did have a thought: how many people that are complaining spent the full $157 on Mario Kart 8 ($60 base game + $60 base game + $12 Wii U DLC + $25 Booster Course Pass)?

That's an interesting point 😆 Personally I only bought Switch version and waited and nabbed it at 50% off and didn't buy the DLC so my total is $30. I'm definitely not getting MKW at launch for $80 but may buy it on sale down the line.

I think that's a bit unfair because 1. I got Wind Waker HD for free for buying Mario Kart 8 early enough on Wii U and 2. I only bought Deluxe because I could get the booster course pass for free by having the expansion pass. So I got a 75 dollar deal overall, which is more than the cost of either copy of Mario Kart 8.

Hopefully some of the Switch's best indie games get Switch 2 upgrades. Dead Cells would be amazing in 120fps. I have got right back into it the last couple of weeks. It struggles with 60fps.. It runs smoothly for the most part but it can freeze for a split second at any random moment, which can lead to mistakes and taking damage. It happens a bit too frequent for my liking, so I've lowered it to 30fps. After a few minutes my eyes get used to the lower framerate but 30 is not ideal for a game like Dead Cells. I imagine going from 30 to 120fps will be spectacular.

Streets of Rage 4 and Shredder's Revenge would be amazing with 120fps too.

Liked this vid from Scott on the Switch 2 reveal. He’s obviously a Nintendo fan but I think he handled stuff well here by speaking about it a few days after all the internet meltdown and obviously sharing some criticism at some things.

I think a lot of discourse is still a bit overly charged and judgmental. Reminded me a lot of the whole SwSh online outrage with the national dex being trimmed. Felt like Pokémon discourse was tainted for ages and it became difficult to talk about it as part of your hobby for a long while.

SwitchUp finally put up a hands-on-Switch2 video and put all those other YT and journalists to shame.

The ONLY ONES to talk about ease of Street Fighter 6 moves using d-pad on pro controller. The ONLY ONES to test wiggling the mouse back and forth as fast as possible like a PC to see if camera and framerate keeps up.

The ONLY ONES to discuss which buttons are used to zoom in and out, pan, grab, etc in Civilization 7

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced

@OorWullie Would love to see Balatro and Slay the Spire get updated with mouse controls.

Thank you for that; I hadn't seen it. So few reviewers talk about some of those important details.

Gotta love YT and all of that negative & Fake excitement click baiting hyperbolic regurgitated nonsense. Those goober heads will scrape the barrel clean and throw whatever integrity they have left out the window just to make a quick buck. How many lame YT video game related news-focused channels do we need to tell us pretty much the exact same thing? It's a total cesspool.

For me it’s more so the lack of research. I appreciate offering criticism and discussion, I just think a loooooot of videos and such often prioritize views and outrage culture over actually presenting the truth of a situation. Perpetuating misinformation or coming off as manipulative.

I think I’m also just jaded to internet outrage over a lot of topics around video games. A lot of backlash feels performative with no real backbone, like how groups will push for boycotting certain games only for it to not amount in any substantial impact on sales. Perhaps a nihilistic view point but I think it’s just better to focus on researching for myself and making a choice based on my own circumstances rather than buying into common discourse on the internet

So, there was just a news blurb saying a bunch of US tariffs would exempt major electronics. Hopefully this will mean no price increase for Switch 2.

@FishyS Good to know but until they put that on paper and ink dries, that just news talk nothing formal Signed/Agreed to yet.

@Jester676 It was a written directive so it's on paper. But yeah, the ink definitely hasn't dried so who knows tomorrow. 😶 Nintendo is probably smart waiting until May 8 to start US pre-orders.
