@Uncle_Franklin that’s a good thought, but don’t you think nintendo will have enough racers on its plate with the biggest mario kart made and a sakurai-developed kirby air ride sequel? at the same time, nintendo HAS been pushing donkey kong. but still, i think there might be a chance they make it into World as unlockable characters, honestly nintendo still seems to be wary to telling us stuff about this game

Regarding voices, Zelda's English voice is awfully bad. Mario's new voice... Well, I didn't think it was that bad watching trailers... until I played Super Mario Wonder 100%. It's really bad and it doesn't do anything better than the original one. Nothing at all. Playing Super Mario Wonder, I realised how good, how great, how perfect, full of personality and nuances Mario's previous voice was, so I played as Luigi, because the acting here (I know it's the same man) doesn't annoy me as much, and I couldn't play as the other characters because the awful jump sound effects are even more unbearable.
I have never paid special attention to Charles Martinet in spite of playing all those games since Super Mario 64, his first Mario work, I guess. Maybe it's because I was growing up playing as Mario and hearing his voice and it just felt natural and right, but now I really miss him. He's old, but he still does the job best and they could have used his older voice clips, anyway. Not that Mario says any real words besides "let's go"...
On the F-Zero comments, I would love that, and even more, Wave Race.
@Uncle_Franklin I think DK would get his own island in Mario Kart World post-launch and that's where the other Kongs appear. Perhaps for tracks there'd be N64 DK's Jungle Parkway, GBA Lakeside Park and a bunch of new DK themed tracks.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.
I've gotta echo what @FishyS and @OctolingKing13 said: I love the positivity/open-mindedness of this forum in particular! Even the negativity is well-grounded as opposed to just being "Price bad lower now" and whatnot. ☺️
As far as Ninji goes, I really am/would be surprised if they don't make the cut. They've had a resurgence in recent years, even showing up in a Mainline game! Yes, Wonder only gave them one level, but it was there nonetheless! @Banjo-@1UP_MARIO Huh, I never really felt that Mr. Afghani did poorly with his voicework. When the change was announced, I was worried, but really I didn't mind it at all. @Uncle_Franklin@Grumblevolcano Ooh, yes, themed islands would be great! I didn't even consider that, moreso just alternate islands in general. Also, I really would like to see Grumble Volcano, though iirc no one has spotted it yet. (3 guesses why I brought it up haha!)

That last sentence is exactly why I've been questioning the necessity of this whole "Mario recast" situation as of late. In spite of what Nintendo wants you to believe, the man can still do those voices perfectly well and still expresses a desire to do them for a living. So why go out of the way to give him the boot and replace him with a lesser quality imitation? It just rubs me the wrong way.
@CaleBoi25 The best criticism comes from those that have been players for a long time, on NES, SNES, N64, NGC... When you know it's sincere, it's the best you can read on Nintendo Life and when they/we do praise Nintendo or a game, you see the honesty, as when we do not. 😉
@1UP_MARIO Super Mario 64 remade with the original voice clips remastered, please! I was hoping for a Nintendo 3DS remake with stereoscopic 3D, which would have worked great in this game because of the simple level design.
So Battle Mode courses are bespoke, as clearly evidenced by the remake of Big Donut. But I've always liked Blockfort from Mario Kart 64. The multiple levels made for peak battle mode.
And it seems we're getting a map somewhat similar. Not exactly the same but it does have 2 levels to it. I like that a lot. The first time I watched the direct I didn't even notice the maps in the corner of the screen.

Kinda wanna share my thoughts on the Mario Kart direct. I really don't like to be negative, but I thought it was a pretty disappointing showing. It's basically a rehash of what we've already learned from the Switch 2 direct and a few other things. Time trials and battle mode are cool and all, though they were predictable because they've been in every game in the series (at least the console and handheld ones). And for battle mode, right now at least, there's only balloon battle and coin runners. As noted earlier, it definitely would've been nice to see shine thief and renegade roundup come back for this game. (I don't mind the lack of bob-omb blast, since it was essentially the same thing as balloon battle in 8 Deluxe.) I do like the new gameplay mechanics though, and it is cool you're given an incentive to explore in the free roam mode. So yeah, the direct wasn't very good, but I do still wanna play this game at some point.
@N00BiSH
Very unpopular opinion but I prefer both Chris Pratt and Kevin Afghani as new Mario voice than Charles Martinet. They sounds better to my ears. You don't like new Mario voice? Well, too bad for you but I prefer their new Mario voice.
@JaxonH I hope that we get a few more battle maps this time around. After the Booster Courses came and went, 8DX's selection felt like small potatoes - paltry. Hopefully World has at least more than 8 maps to choose from.

@N00BiSH
I'd love that but I'm expecting 4 courses just like traditional Mario Kart entries of years past. But perhaps an expansion could add more in the future.

@JaxonH I hope not, if only because going back to 4 would be kind of regressive in my eyes. If they're going to keep the number small, I'd say they should stick with 8 as the default.

Keep in mind, it's kinda hard not to regress (in terms of quantity) after a game that combined 2 generations worth of content into one package. Even with games like Smash Bros Ultimate- there's no way the next entry even comes close to the roster of the last entry. You reach a certain point where you have to get back to basics and start fresh.
I hope it has more and will be delighted if it does, but I'd be genuinely amazed if MK World has more than 4 battle tracks. Just based on the game having 30 courses, I think that helps align expectations. But if you're holding out hope for more, I'd say maybe just prepare mentally for the possibility so it doesn't come as a shock if we don't get more. And if it does, we can all be pleasantly surprised.

Honestly I couldn’t tell the difference between Afghani’s Mario and Luigi voices in Mario and Luigi: Borthership and Charles Martinet’s Mario and Luigi voices. Made me think Martinet came back.
I think I'm going to main Penguin. There are possibly a few other characters that I might play quite often but we'll see. Goomba, Hammer Bro, and Coin Coffer are all candidates.
I'm looking forward to the knockout tour. I think that'll be really fun in the online races and I like how it has a separate VR rating compared to the standard online races.
Speaking of standard online races, I imagine those will still be the standard 3 laps of the circuit and not the driving from track to track? Not that I'm complaining; I'm fine with either and I'm massively excited either way.
