In celebration, I will be busting out some classic Mario Kart and World on the SNES.

Mother's Day is supposed on 2nd Sunday of May, right?

Oh, never knew if UK have different Mother's Day celebration date.
Usually I remembered the USA / International Mother's Day on 2nd Sunday in May or 22 December in Indonesia.

What a coincidence that they're sharing the same day!

My Mum wasn't much of a gamer, but Mario Kart was our middle ground. She always picked Birdo despite being the least girly person I know. I remember in MK8 her online score managed to dip below the default 1000, and maybe got to the 200s? However she hung in there and got it up to 1000 (and beyond!).
It was nice to have that shared experience anyway, gaming was always something very solitary for me so it was a nice change.

Nowadays? We don't play Mario Kart. Our relationship is quite different. I'm glad we have those simple, rainy day Mario Kart memories though
