Hello,
I just purchased a wii u and I tried connecting it to the TV but It said no signal. My game pad connects to the wii u but says I should put in a pattern as shown on the TV but I cant see it! I tried it on multiple TVS with different HDMIS and Plugged the HDMI into my Laptop to see if it works and it displayed. So I have no Idea what is going on. Help me internet. I want to play Mario Kart 8.

Do you know how to get to system settings? When I set mine up, I had to change TV settings for some reason.

Have you made sure that the tv input is on the same setting that the HDMI cable is connected to?

Define setting? Like If i put it to HMDI 1 is it in HDMI 1. Then Yes. I tested it with my laptop and it red to the screen. The Wii u wont show any signal. Is there any on screen combo that you know that I can put into the wii u gamepad? And if i put in the wrong combo does it change on screen? I dont know because I cant see.

What did you change the Tv Setting too? Like by settings do you mean changing it to HDMI 1 -4 because I have done that.
As well as systems setting do you mean the Nintendos or TVs? I have a Samsung and a Vizio.

Oh, I'm not completely sure how to connect it to your tv, but this should help you connect your game pad to the console.

Try scanning through all HDMI inputs your tv has. Make sure the HDMI cable is plugged in solidly at both ends. Turn off the WiiU and Tv. Then turn on the tv first, WiiU second. Perhaps you set the resolution for the WiiU to something your tv couldn't handle? That's about it.

My other Switch is a WiiU.

Might have a bogus unit, unfortunately. I recall reports back at launch of a few people who couldn't get video on their TV. When you power the Wii U on, does the blue light on the console start flashing? If so, you may want to exchange for a new unit. If NOT, then it may be a simple fix.

I had that happen. If you have Wii components, try that.

No flashing just a blue light that sits there.

@justlink
Mines did not come up with the AV cable.

Hmmm, I'd try on a different TV and see what happens. Sometimes there are compatibility issues with certain models. Not too common but then again your problem isn't common so...

And I'd try turning everything off, unplugging, plugging back in, then turning on the Wii U by pressing power on the Gamepad, then try it all over again pressing power on the console.

I have tried two tvs. But I will try shutting everything off. and unplugging everything and then plugging it back in again.

Yes, try that. Unplug, plug back in. Turn on TV, wait 10-15 seconds, turn on Wii U. If that still doesn't work, try all the other HDMI ports on your TV.

My Xbox One, for some reason, won't give me a signal on one of my HDMI ports, but my Wii U and PS4 work just fine through that same port. Idk, weird stuff happens sometimes.

Lol 1080P Tv 120 Refresh rate. Dont think i set the wii u to some power my tv cant handle.
I was never able to make it to the turning on the wii u screen. Furthest I got was a blue light and my tv saying NO Signal. Think I will just return it. Too much hassle to go through Nintendo for this.

Ya it's not worth going through Ninty, not when retailers have good return policies. I'm sorry to hear about your Wii U being defective- I know how it is to buy a console and have it not work as it should. This sort if thing is rare, even more so being Nintendo hardware, but, nonetheless this stuff does happen sometimes for a few unfortunate souls. I know it's probably not what you want to hear right now, but once you get the hassle of the return over with you'll forget all about this. Once you have a good working system and are enjoying the games, you'll be glad you got the system, even if it was more trouble than it should have been.

I recently purchased my Wii U as a refurb direct from Nintendo a couple weeks ago. Had no problems until yesterday when I experienced a video stutter while playing in Wii mode. Then, tonight I go to power on, get a steady blue light and gamepad says it can't connect.

I unplugged and powered off everything and let it sit a bit, plugged it all back up, powered on TV first, then powered on Wii from the console and not the gamepad and it came on normally.

Doing research on this problem, I see it's something that has been documented online since at least 2012 and people have tried varying methods to rectify the problem with varying degrees of success.

Honestly, I never expected this from a Nintendo product and had I heard about it before purchasing my Wii U, I might have purchased new locally with an extended warranty, just in case.

I know Nintendo has a 1 year limited warranty on refurbs, but it's a lot easier to deal locally when something goes wrong.
