For years, I have occasionally put my SD card into my Mac to drag and drop the screenshots folder over as a backup. This has always worked perfectly. Dragging it and dropping to the desktop and then dragging from the desktop to a new SD card even worked when I needed to upgrade SD cards a few years ago.
Recently, I went through some pictures from 2021 and 2022 and deleted a bunch of them to clear room. Then I changed my mind and decided I wanted them back, so I put the SD card in my computer, deleted the 2021 and 2022 folders, and copied in the 2021 and 2022 folders from my backup. For whatever reason, it didn't work this time. All of those pics no longer show up on my Switch.
If I put the SD card back into my computer, they are all visible, just not on the Switch itself. They are still all the correct file types and sorted into the correct subfolders. I haven't messed with anything. On top of screwing up my Switch photo album, I now feel like I have no idea how this worked or why I was able to transfer them to a new SD card this same way in the past.
Does anyone have any idea of what is going on here or how I can correct it?
I also can't save screenshots to this new SD card anymore.
