@Mariotag
A Crack in Time is a part of Trilogy of Ratchet & Clank Future PS3.
The first game is Tools of Destruction, then followed by very short sequel Quest for Booty as gap filler then closed by A Crack in Time.
I personally thought A Crack in Time is the best from the Trilogy of Ratchet & Clank Future.
Tools of Destruction was great also, with a lot of weapons variety to choose.
Quest for Booty was actually pretty good but too short and too linear.
All-4-One, Q-Force are the worst spinoff in my opinion.
Into the Nexus was quite good but the planets to visit just only four.
Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart on PS5 is a sequel of Into The Nexus that also explained the same Raritanium upgrade system in Rift Apart and have more planets to visit.
@Pastellioli
Well, I was lucky to able getting PS3 in December 2019 from my game shop seller.
He have an used PS3 Slim White color 320 GB and I asked if it was on sale.
He offered me with quite cheap price, 2 Million Rupiah or around US$ 120.
I started by 2 PS3 games when I got PS3 machine and quickly growing more than 70 PS3 games after 5 years I owned PS3.
Well, the other PS3 games I can considered are the unpopular / niche games for everyone like UDraw, PS3 Move games, Skylanders, cartoon franchise games, sometimes some random games I bought in a whim (as long still appropriate for kids) since the price were really cheap but the gameplay quality also questionable / mediocre.
I also have PSP with 10 PSP games so far as I don't really have bigger hype on PSP when my PSP IC charger part was broken until it got repaired two months ago and it made the battery life got improved. I think I will add some cute PSP games in next year after 2 years I got hiatus from PSP.
Oh, I played Pop'n Music games, Air de Puzzle, Hannah Montana, Secret Agent Clank, Minna no Tennis on PSP.
I only looking for kids games on PSP, with at least decent gameplay and basic genre I can choose such as puzzle games, Rhythm games, quirky games, life simulation games, platformer games, racing games, etc.
Still I prefer 3DS & NDS over than PSP in term of their game library. More diversity and kids games on 3DS & NDS than on PSP. But again, still I prefer 3rd party games even on 3DS and NDS than 1st party Nintendo games.
Even I have certain 1st party Nintendo games, the only Nintendo game I have the highest hype is ACNH. I don't really have much hype with 1st party Nintendo games as I already got impressed more by 3rd party games I played and it set the bar really really high so everything that below my expectation bar, I will show less enthusiasm with the games.
Have a nice day. Voiceactor: The Pirates! (Sony/Aardman 2012) - The Passion: A Brickfilm (Neema 2019) - The Torchlighters: The Story of John Newton (Vision Video 2022) - [NEW] Minno's Laugh and Grow Bible (Minno - 2024)
@Pastellioli Yeah, was just at a retro game store. Skies of Arcadia on Gamecube is $170. Pokemon Emerald, without box or inserts, I couldn't tel if it was $700, or $900. So yes, I completely get it.
I'm not much of one for merch either. The house I'm in has wayyyy too much stuff like that. Amiibo and plushies have fun uses though.
Yeah, I definitely miss the local tournaments and events. Even ones just one area away. And, I used to consider Gamestop to be a job to go for, given how much I like gaming, but apparently, they're treated awfully, on top of my current circumstances not allowing much of a chance for a job.
Yeah, some devices work better than others, I believe. Was trying to get Hulu to work on ps5, which, btw, is now a Disney sub service, and I quickly fell from being able to consistently being able to use hulu the moment Disney took over. An app that used to work flawlessly became one riddled with lag, errors, and crashes, and as of about a week or so ago, will not load videos on ps5 at all anymore. The smart TV at my mom's house still runs hulu well, but the Xbox One I have at home somehow refuses to play vocal audio for Dragonball Super outside the intro and potentally, the outro. Ads are also affected. But curiously, it's just DBS. Browser on my laptop works fine so far.
Yeah, Adventure, and its sequel were plagued with some awkward playstyles. But there were also really likable parts too. The fact that after Sonic 06, we ceased being able to play as the likes of Blaze or Cream, and Silver never really got his own story, kinda hit hard. To fix it, they might at least make the emerald hunting stages more lenient. Heroes would be cool to have on modern platforms, but idk how significant it would be. Sonic 06 however, a lot of the hate came from the glitches, which I didn't run into much issue with, and the final story. Namely a certain scene that had a LOT of ppl up in arms. Fix those two issues, and hopefully make the ending have a bit more positive impact, and you've got a hit that might actually inspire them to bring other characters back. Oh, and maybe a less bland hub world?
Yeah, the spirits being implemented as they were ended up being nice references. Nothing more really. They should absolutely have done things differently. The only big plus I can see with the spirits is how it ties into the story. In prior games, the fighters were dolls, trophies, and eventually amiibo. Now it's implied that the spirits for everything in the universe have been scattered and corrupted, and that is a nice touch for what Sakurai probably thought to be his last entry.
Tbh, I want to see Sonic 3 again. My mood was so dead, it was like I didn't experience the movie at all, and instead was just spoiled on it. And yeah, Dark Knight Trilogy was quite an event. Never got into the MCU tbh. But I am curious about the Spiderman trilogy, and the remaining Avengers movies.
Tbh, I suspect physical copies for 06 on either console are reasonably priced. I doubt they'd be back in either digital storefront, especially with the 360 one down now.
As for how my holidays went... Well, at first, it was decent. But then I realized something that has me especially messed up, and is probably too heavy a topic to talk about here.
@Anti-Matter Huh. I didn't know there was a future trilogy? I got those as individual games. I do have a game on my ps5, from my ps4, simply titled Ratchet and Clank. Do not know where that fits in. Will need a way to reference this information.
@Mariotag I find the prices attached to retro games to be crazy, but it’s not surprising since some of those games are popular and hard to find, or that they never got modern ports and are stuck on older consoles instead. I think that modern ports or remakes of retro games is a necessity since it makes them more accessible and at a better price for players.
I used to have a ton back then but I don’t have them anymore. It was a lotta of video game characters, specifically Mario, Pokémon, and Sonic characters, I remember this Shadow the Hedgehog plush the most. I’d love to get another one and a few new ones. I was on this video game merch site called Fangamer once and the plushies on there looked so high quality and nice. What caught my attention on there was this Conker plush they sell (which I actually had as an NL avatar once) and the fact that it’s apparently a talking plush with lines from his VA and I think it has an attachable crown too. I would get a ton of plushes if I could, but most of the plushes are $31 each, and I can’t imagine how bad shipping would be.
I think I have heard a few months ago that GameStop treated employees poorly…that’s disappointing. I liked to go there a lot in the past and I liked the way the games and merchandise were set up in the store and sold, and I thought the pre-owned game section was great for getting games at a cheaper price, but it’s terrible to hear some workers feel stressed and sometimes pressured when they work at some GameStop locations.
Wow, that is crazy it stopped loading well on your console the second Hulu became a fully Disney-owned service. Do streaming apps usually work poorly on consoles? I remember using Hulu on the Switch a few times and it loaded shows and videos well, which is a bit surprising for a console that is considered underpowered by many. I haven’t seen how streaming apps run on my Xbox however. The streaming apps I’ve used on phone (Disney+ and Crunchyroll) did work fine, though Crunchyroll had bad issues with starting up ads and sometimes freezing them as they played, so I had to keep closing the app and going to the show I was watching to fix it, but even then it sometimes didn’t work and the ads kept stopping when they were playing. Disney+ didn’t really have any issues, but I haven’t used it in a while.
I see! I am a bit surprised that some of the popular characters haven’t been playable again or in a while. I do think that maybe an 06 remake could fix glitches, but I do wonder if a hypothetical 06 remake would slightly change the story and rewrite parts of it since some people think it wasn’t good at all, and I hear the story is one of the main highlights of 06, though rather infamously, and I feel like they probably could fix some parts of it. Is it sometimes common for remakes to write new stuff in the story? I wonder if there are any that do that…
Thinking about that, that is kinda cool with how the Spirits were used in the story of the Adventure mode, and how the Spirits are kind of forced to control the fighters like puppets because of how the Spirits are controlled by either Galeem or Dharkon, and the Spirits not being how they usually are and needing to be defeated to be freed from both of their control. In fact, you are fighting the Spirits more than the actual fighters, since the Spirits (depending on the character) have some of their traits put into the fighter they are controlling. I think the Spirit fights still could have had variety and something to spice them up and make them more unique since the Spirits were one of the main focuses of World of Light.
I do wanna see Sonic 3 again, it was so enjoyable and definitely outdoes the previous two films. I do think the movie has some slight flaws, but I think it’s one of the best video game adaptations I’ve seen, plus the film had kinda put me in a Sonic mood now haha. I do hope you enjoy 3 if you see it again. I did watch some MCU movies and one show (that being WandaVision) but I also kinda wasn’t into it, also because you have to watch some of the films to understand stuff happening in later films and just doing a Wikipedia read on the plot summaries wouldn’t be enough since I’m not watching the movie or show at all and still wouldn’t understand stuff that is happening. I tend to forget a lot of stuff I read, but when I watch stuff it sticks in my mind way more.
Ah shoot, I forgot they took down the 360 marketplace. I think 06 was brought back on that one prior to it being shut down, but I didn’t even think about it. It never came back on the Xbone and Series X and S storefront since 06 is incompatible with newer Xbox hardware. But just imagine if 06 suddenly became backwards compatible and made a comeback on the Xbox. I am wondering what games the new backwards compatibility and game preservation team are going to make playable on new consoles, but I think it’ll be a while till they make any new announcements for that since Microsoft is focused on other stuff like multi-platform releases.
I’m sorry that happened over the holidays. I understand not wanting to discuss it. I hope you are feeling well.
@Pastellioli Yeahh, the prices are outrageous. Unfortunately, many of those games can't reasonably get rereleases or remakes (licensing and stuff), and in some cases in which they do, those re-edtions simply are a massive downgrade from the original. (Tales of Symphonia. It's speculated that they lost the original master or whatever, as, while I don't know about the PS2 Japan only release, each consecutive release has been worse than the previous.)
I would probably enjoy a Tails plush. I have a friend who would like a Remilia plush. But in general, I don't go for that stuff... I do like my Charizard and Midna amiibo though. They are too expensive. It baffles my mind sometimes at how some things can be priced. For example, purchasing a brand new full length AAA video game is basically the same price as a lower end artist commission on Twitter.
Honestly, yeah. Gamestop is a go=to for me. The only local one I have ever been to at least. I hear there's another store somewhere though... But the way they're treated? Honestly, I used to promote the employees treating me whenever I had the chance to fill out a survey. A no hassle experience, clear cut, no confusion. I have only ever had one time in more than a decade when me or my dad got the impression someone there was trying to con me.
Eh, I wouldn't say streaming apps in general have issues on console. But apparently, the ps5 hulu app is such a massive downgrade to the point it's unusable. Especially now that it's part of Disney, which btw, I find it amusing seeing all the articles of Disney basically going to war with Paramount because Sonic 3 outsold their beloved Mufasa on opening weekend. Disney Plus, I never dared try at home because of our internet. But at my mom's place, it was unusable. Coulda been platform specific though. Crunchyroll suffers terribly from our poor internet, but it is sometimes usable. Funimation was the same as CR when it was around. Paramount Plus gave me, and my sister trouble in general, but we have the common link of AT&T as an ISP. Meanwhile, amusingly, on top of remaining on my smart TV for longer, Netflix generally has never given me issue except when there's some major thing going on.
Remakes generally don't rewrite the story, unless you count how Sonic X restructured everything to both be fluid in an anime, and fit the new characters in. Sonic 06 desperately needs it though. Especially with that ending, and the romance plot that ended up uhh.... Well, to call it controversial would maybe be putting it lightly. Yes, 06 ended up convincing Sega not to include different characters in their games outside the tried and tested classic characters. Where we once had multiple stories with a variety of characters old and new, as well as Cream as a 5th classic mainstay, now we just have Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and now sometimes Classic Sonic, and Amy. Though I do have high hopes for Trip and Sage.
Honestly, yeah. I feel that's what the spirits were meant to represent. Like, "okay, we have the largest playable roster ever. But we want to include more characters to represent."
But WoL, and the spirits in general were executed particularly poorly. It'd have been nice if they were more distinct. And actually, while it would have required more, I'd have liked some added stuational conditions, like, "Beat Samurai Goroh in a race to the finish". The spirits are basically Ultimate's representation of the gaming multiverse, so seeing them done injustice like this is quite upsetting.
The MCU (Which lest we forget, stands for Marvel Capcom Universe. Always the first thing that comes to mind.) definitely has flaws in how massive and interconnected it is. I want to watch Spiderman's trilogy. But to see that, I apparently have to watch the Avengers movies, as well as Doctor Strange. And each movie is like, 3 hours long. Sonic's movies have been a joy. I'm really upset that I wasn't able to feel much during the screening. Probably can't go back for another viewing though. Honestly, one thing fans wanted from the movie, given it's basically the movie interpretation of SA2, was to have that meme fandub represented in some way.
Yeah. The 360 marketplace is down. A shame, but at the same time, my console is at maximum capacity. I cannot fit anything further on it at all whatsoever. Sonic 06 has been stated to work better on 360 btw. Am curious how backward compatibility progresses too. Hopefully, Windows 11 won't screw over all my games. I want all my Touhous, not to mention everything else, to still function.
Honestly, it's something that just isn't suited to public discussion. If there were a message function, could use that. It's going to change my life drastically. I need to pull out of a lot of issues within a short amount of time, but don't see a way to do it. And thanks.
Had a good Christmas, lots of gaming between playing F-Zero 99, Sonic X Shadow Generations, and Smurfs Mission Vileaf (got it really cheap on the eShop, I have a DRM-free copy from GOG so I don't need to worry about having this one physically). For Christmas, got some Trolls toys and a cool Sonic Pez set, and Sonic X Shadow Generations. Hope everyone had a good Christmas or holiday.
Also, I finally saw Sonic 3 a few days before Christmas, and I loved the movie.
@Sunsy Yeah. It was crazy! Pokemon was a particularly special case, as the games that eventually released outside Japan were, iirc, at least slightly different. Plus, while Japan got the different media staggered out a bit at first, we got it all at once over here. Pokemon was just suddenly a thing, anime, games, and all, and there was immense hype. Something I actually saw somewhere is a part of the OG games' success was the devs cleverly hid some stuff in the games (The data for Mew), and basically knew that people would spread rumors and theories on playgrounds and the like. It's actually incredible.
Paramount Plus was a disaster here. Even if we hadn't lost the streaming service...Actually, the reason we did was the person paying for it, with a far superior AT&T internet connection, had a horrible time getting it to function. Naturally, we fared similarly at our place.
The Wolf Link 3d model is basically a mod some ppl have created for LoZ games, based off Twilight Princess's Wolf Link.
Oh dear, I remember all the rumors from Pokemon back then, even the made up stuff such as Pokegods. I do remember Mew showing up once in the Hall of Fame. What happened was doing the MissingNo glitch would corrupt the Hall of Fame, and stuff appeared in it whenever I checked it and Mew once popped up. I do remember the truck rumor. I did that once, only to find nothing. Will admit it did make for an interesting way to play the game, lol.
@Sunsy Lol that happens to me as well, having someone reply to me the moment I post, haha.
Thank you. I'm sure it'll be fun. Gotcha, that'll still be nice. That's awesome you got to order donuts, those are delicious. Same here, my free time saw me playing games quite a bit lol. I got nostalgic for Mega Man Battle Network, so decided to play through the MMBN legacy collection.
That's funny you mentioned Noelle since my mom's been thinking of that movie! She wants to watch it again sometime. I wanna watch Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas on Christmas Eve, been making that a tradition.
That's good, and that is actually a good idea you have for Halloween. I guess I've been treating it like any other day haha. Besides watching The Nightmare Before Christmas, and having Halloween decorations up since my mom likes seasonal/holiday decorations.
On Sega Channel, that makes sense. We're talking about the Sega Genesis here, lol! Agreed on the digital manuals on Wii U. I remember that GBA games on the VC let you have the original manuals on the GamePad, that was actually pretty neat. That's fine if you can't totally remember. It's been decades since SC was discontinued after all.
That's cool. I love the theme for Merry Mountain. I remember listening to the New Horizons 9 AM theme while doing some housework. It's a very nice theme actually. Yeah, maybe check with your friend to see if he has that issue.
It is cool that Medal of Honor took a lot of inspiration from WWII events, I think I saw that actually. It's cool that Activision went ahead and made Wii ports of the CoD games too. That reminds me. I remember hearing that Sega was gonna bring over Sonic 06 to the Wii, but ended up making Secret Rings for it instead. There were indeed quite a few games that were made for the 360 and PS3, that ended up having a different version on the Wii.
Good to hear your tree looks great, mine also looks really good. I did have fun decorating mine. By the way, thank you and @Tyranexx for mentioning LibreOffice. I'll have to try that out sometime... I really don't wanna pay for Microsoft Office.
Yeah, I wanted to do something nice for the Christmas season, I thought getting some Dunkin' Donuts would be good. I very rarely use Door Dash for food delivery (last time I used it was one year ago), so got myself cocoa and a snack for mom and myself. Ooh nice, for me, it's been a lot of F-Zero 99, with some other games too.
I did watch Noelle this year, also did a bunch of movies on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with mom. Hope you watch it again (little fun fact, Anna Kendrick who plays Noelle, is also the voice of Poppy in Trolls). I watched Elf for the first time. We're still watching some Christmas stuff before the season gets too far away.
Yeah, I still like having that bit of fun for Halloween. I'm not really into scary stuff outside a handful of zombie games I play (like House of the Dead), so I usually like to have character related fun. I terms of Halloween decorations, I have Christmas lights that are all orange that I put outside.
Indeed, it's like the Wii U manuals were useful, I could pull them up mid-game if needed. That's what I notice is lacking on Switch, manuals. I still don't know what some of the power-ups in Trolls Remix Rescue does because of a lack of a manual. The GBA manuals were one of my favorite things about GBA VC, I could read the original manual in its original form. It's like the game preserved the original manual for viewing.
Sounds nice, I've been mostly listening to an online Christmas radio station this season. I usually had it on when I was in my room gaming. Nothing like speeding through snow covered F-Zero tracks to some Christmas music.
Yeah, I was really surprised when I saw in the school history book the event that was in the game. Kind of showed the Medal of Honor developers paid attention to history to make the missions inspired by actual events. They said gaming couldn't be educational. Yeah, I remember hearing something like that, and it's also part of the reason why Sonic 06 had problems since part of the team went to make Secret Rings. At least from what I remember seeing anyway, it's been years since I've read up on it.
You're welcome, LibreOffice is a great alternative to Microsoft Office.
@Sunsy I think that specific cheated blindfold Mario 64 speedrun became infamous after that insightful video came out and broke down how it was cheated and the signs it was not authentic. Blindfolded speedruns sound impressive, but not when they are being cheated on, but I hear that Mario 64 in general has a ton of cheated speedruns unfortunately. It’s pretty cool that Trolls game has a speedrunning achievement! I’ve never heard of a game that has an achievement that is unlocked by completing the game in a short amount of time, usually the achievements I see in games aren’t unlocked that way.
It is good to hear some people did like Boom, especially the Japanese version.
I haven’t played a Volition game at all, but the shutdown of that studio and the many other ones under Embracer Group was terrible to see. I really hate seeing game studios being shut down, and I think Embracer did a bad job managing their studios after that expensive deal they tried making with another company failed to go through.
I have played some of Jet Force Gemini on the Xbox via Rare Replay, but I thought the controls and shooting was so rough and hard to get used to, though I do like the setting and designs of the creatures and characters. I never really saw any advertisements for N64 games, but I’ve watched a few online and some N64 accounts on Instagram post a few that I’ve caught glimpses of. I can remember this Japanese Diddy Kong Racing ad that was fully 2D animated and the characters looked cute. Some of the most interesting ones were ads for restaurants or food while also advertising the N64 games. I saw a bit of a Mario Kart 64 Taco Bell ad (which became a meme) and a Banjo-Kazooie Keebler ad.
It’s only releasing in a few days, and I’m so excited but I’m going to see it Christmas Day instead, so I will need to avoid spoilers and endlessly scrolling online because I know people will mention some spoilers in discussions about the movie. I’m also not going to watch any reviews until after I see it. It’s nice you liked Knuckles a ton, I never watched it but I watched a review of it and I do know Paramount made the first episode available on YouTube for free, though I didn’t watch it. Sometimes I plan to watch something and I never do either because I’m busy or doing something else. Making lasagna and watching The Garfield Movie is so cool and fitting! I can imagine how fun it was, I just usually eat something like McDonalds while watching movies with my family, but usually I don’t eat anything when I watch movies alone. Trying to avoid spoilers for Trolls 3 for almost an entire month up to its worldwide theatrical release must have been super hard. When movies get released early or have a special screening event for a select few people, stuff is unfortunately bound to get spoiled.
Those look cool. The only kind of figures we really have are amiibos and a buttload Disney Infinity figures, and that one Funko I have of D.va, though my dad and brother have a bigger Funko collection. There are maybe two plushies I wouldn’t mind having of Rare characters, specifically this Banjo and Kazooie and Conker plush (which if I recall reading, was a talking plush that used voice lines from his original voice actor). A site called Fangamer is selling those two and think the two plushes look so high-quality and adorable, but they are both $32 and I can’t imagine how much expensive they”ll be with shipping, so realistically I’d only pick one.
It stinks it gets dark so early, because then I have to rely on a yellow light. I went through a couple of my old sketchbooks from a years ago and they had their pages yellowed ruined; I think the drawings sometimes had a yellow imprint on the other page and it ruined a couple artwork. I am hoping the sketchbooks I use now don’t go through those issues because they have a ton of art in them I enjoy, and it would cause me to have to draw or write over the yellowed spots to hide them. But the strange thing is, those artworks weren’t in sunlight for long and were in a dark place away from any kind of yellow light, but I guess I have to be careful with where I place my artwork to prevent damage to the paper.
Indeed, it is impressive when someone does it without cheating. I imagine it takes a lot of memorizing of knowing where stuff is and how to approach it. I also imagine sound plays a role in it to, hearing stuff in game. Yeah, the achievement was to complete the game within 2 hours, though with the amount of stuff to explore in game, it took me like 4-6 hours to beat the game. I can see the speedrunning achievement being a bit hard, since Trolls Remix Rescue had a few bugs. Still was a good movie tie-in game that did justice to the source material, even if there are some bugs.
Yeah, it surprised me too given how negative the backlash to Sonic Boom was in November and December 2014. I honestly felt like the only person who enjoyed the game.
Red Faction, and if you want to count it Descent as it was Volition under a different name, were the only games I've played by them, but it did catch me by surprise since I have played those games.
Nice, that's a game I would have wanted to play, especially since I first saw it when I went through a sci-fi phase, and wanted to play sci-fi stuff. I remember seeing lots of ads back then and Jet Force Gemini was one of them. I still remember the old Mario Party one with the police officers coming to a house and Mario answering the door. Wow, I never seen the Japan commercial to Diddy Kong Racing, sounds really nice they have 2D animated characters in it. I think I had the Banjo-Kazooie Keebler ad on VHS once. I went camping and my mom taped me an episode of Snorks from Cartoon Network so I wouldn't miss it, and that ad was on the tape.
Hope you enjoyed Sonic 3, I know I did. I saw the day before Christmas Eve and my friend and I had a great time with it. I know that feeling, wanting to watch something and other things come up. Indeed, I thought having both would make for a fun dinner and a movie. Cool, sometimes mom and I will get take out (pizza or Chinese usually) and eat it while watching something too. You can imagine. The Trolls fandom loves shipping Poppy and Branch, let's just say a big moment happens in the movie and some people made it their avatar on Instagram. One of the times I had to block someone for spoiling something. A whole month because it released early in Europe. The struggle to avoid spoilers was incredibly real.
Thanks, they're really fun to collect, affordable too. A Trolls Mineez pack is usually $5 for two Trolls figures. I've been collecting them for a little over a year now, and usually get two packs whenever I go to Target. Nice to see someone else who played Disney Infinity, I use to play it a lot on Wii and Wii U (yes, I even have the Wii version of Infinity 1.0 from before I had a Wii U). Plushies are always fun to collect, especially how detailed they can be. I've heard of Fangamer before, I was looking at some of their Shantae merch years ago.
I can't recall that happening to art pads I've had over the years, again, It's only been recently I've been using art pads for artwork. A long time ago, I would have just used printer paper. Now I just use art pads since I assume art would stay safe in that. That does sound unfortunate. What brand of art pad do you use? I use Strathmore Sketch.
@Sunsy Merry Christmas! Hope you are having a good time gaming
Merry Christmas to you too. Yes, I have been having a good time. Will admit did get disconnected from F-Zero 99 a lot one day, but it ultimately was the result of my ISP having outages before Christmas. I did get Sonic x Shadow Generations for Christmas.
@Sunsy It wouldn't hurt to try Notepad++. Particularly since it's free and well known. I use it to manage multiple notes and files too. We actually use OpenOffice on our work servers for customer needs, but overall I prefer Libre Office for personal use. We're a Microsoft Office company where I work, but I don't have to pay for it lol. My only issue is formatting in Libre Office doesn't always translate well to other programs.
I've seen many different meatballs recipes, some sweeter than others. A family recipe I have uses ground beef and oatmeal in place of breadcrumbs. There's a lot of brown sugar and ketchup involved too. I've only ever dealt with oven recipes, but I know some use crock pots and other containers too.
Maybe I'll download it one day. Interesting, I remember using OpenOffice at one point too.
Wow, that actually brings back a memory, My mom use to make these sweet meatballs every New Years for many years. We don't make them anymore, but I remember them. Never heard of a recipe using ketchup and brown sugar before.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Sunsy
Quick question about sonic 3 movie you have watched because I still have dislikeness about that movie.
And when I tried forcing myself to watch the trailer, I quickly stopped watching after 20 seconds as I suddenly felt that probably I got the flashback experience from 1st sonic movie that I considered inappropriate from my perspective. You know, the outrageous and the rebellion way in the scene that from "cool" people's will consider as cool actions but for me that have dislikeness with SEGA edginess, the rebellion way just turned me off.
Because you have watched the whole movie of sonic 3, was there any scene that I still considered as "inappropriate" even in kids movie?
I have ever watched kids movies that have the scene that I considered inappropriate from my perspective (the wild robot for example) and I felt really offended by the specific scenes & dialogues and it made me wanted to stop watching the movie before even finished.
Btw, you can tell directly what was happened from sonic 3 movie, I don't mind at all with spoiler since I read the text first without watching the scenes so it will save my brain from watching the "inappropriate" scenes.
Oh, also.
I never like the people who voiced shadow in sonic 3 movie, both in his movie roles and his real life.
I turned off by sonic 3 movie because of him.
I've decided to take a long-term break from the forums, so I'm retiring from this thread. I've had a lot going on IRL for awhile and seriously need to rebalance a few things in my personal life; this is a personal decision and has nothing to do with any user or experience. I've enjoyed chatting with you all, but it's getting harder for me to find the time to fit in these long posts lol. I'll still comment under the occasional article and lurk around.
@MarioVillager92 Merry (late) Christmas to you! I hope you've had a great Christmas season - with plenty of trains.
@Sunsy I hope you had a great Christmas! Mune was ok. Haven't really felt the holidays this year tbh.
Open Office is functional and another good Microsoft Office alternative. But it isn't perfect.
That meatball recipe I mentioned gets broken out for reunions since they're large meatballs in a 9x13 pan. The sauce uses brown sugar, a lot of ketchup, some mustard, and a little chili powder. The meatballs are mostly the meat and oats with an egg and a couple othwr ingredients
@Pastellioli The N64 content is the sole reason I'd even consider the NSO expansion pack since I have little interest in Genesis games and have access to most of the GBA games I'd be interested in elsewhere. Nintendo needs to add more for it to be worth my while. I still have the standard sub and get some use out of it. Though I do feel like I'm coerced into it if I want a legal way for game backups since I don't NEED the other services. Backups wouldn't be such a big deal if my free time was infinite. I HATE losing save data for a game I've spent dozens to hundreds of hours on. I could be convinced with NSO ex+ if they add GameCube games.
I hope you have/had fun with Nuts and Bolts this time around. I understand the preference for many to not use guides, but IMO there really isn't anything wrong with them if someone needs a helping hand. Either because a game has archaic design and is too cryptic, or because it does a poor job of explaining its mechanics.
@Mariotag Cell reception is a bit better there this time of year since most of the trees dropped their leaves, though it still depends on the weather. Still, it isn't reliable and cell data plans can run high.
I think the Pokemon anime switched networks early in the Battle Frontier arc IIRC. I do remember Ash's VA switch bugged me the most. I did catch a few episodes after during the Diamond/Pearl Arc when I was at an aunt's, but this wasn't often or consistent. I finally quit watching completely when I realized how formulaic the episodes became. Though I'm told there were some improvements later.
I think I fully 100%ed Chamber of Secrets on PC; that's how much I enjoyed and replayed the game lol. But yeah, Goblet of Fire was meh. I think the drop in game quality was around the time EA started developing HP in-house and not just publishing. The first three games no matter what form I played them in ranged from good to great. Both The PC and DS versions of GoF were mid.
I think the Trails In The Sky games are only available digitally on PC. Though I'm told they were on PSP, that isn't what I'd call a modern platform. Most of the other arcs are available on other platforms - usually PC and PS - and Switch TECHNICALLY has them all except Cold Steel I/II never left Japan on the system.
Seems like I'm missing some good games in the KH series, though I don't think it's worth the investment for me at this time. Unless there's a full reboot or something similar.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@Mariotag I do forget about licensing sometimes being an issue with some games and media and how it can prevent a few from being re-released or remade, unless the developer and companies can work something out with it. I haven’t really heard of re-releases, remasters, or remakes that downgrade the original version instead of improving them. The only port I can really think of is Sonic Adventure DX, I heard a ton of people think that one didn’t fix the original game and people pointed out how the graphics apparently looked worse than the original and were flatter.
I do think the prices for some merchandise and plushes are kind of insane, but I think the quality, look of the merchandise, and the materials play a factor in the price, and possibly the size of it. I think the types of figures that are posable (like Figma and Nendoroid) are more expensive not because they are high quality but also because they are versatile. I wish plushes weren’t as expensive sometimes though…
So it sounds like the version of Hulu on PS5 is super unusable? That’s really not good, I don’t know how it is on the Xbox. Although not a streaming app, I similarly find the Xbox version of Microsoft Edge runs so poorly and is almost unusable compared to how it probably runs on a computer or phone. Crunchyroll tends to run fine besides the ads choosing to freeze during anime episodes and taking so long to continue so I can resume what I was watching. I never used Paramount+, but I think people have said it has a ton of issues when they used it, mainly from it freezing, glitching, or not functioning. Netflix ran well when I used to have it (even on old Tabs and older consoles like the Wii) but I don’t have it anymore.
I remember hearing about that kind of competition with Sonic 3 and Mufasa both releasing on the same day, but I have not really heard anything about Mufasa at all besides a few YouTube reviews, I didn’t even get many commercials for it compared to Sonic 3. I just really am not a huge fan of a lot of Disney’s live-action remakes, the only one I really thought was fine was the Jungle Book remake. I think my main issue is that they repeat the same films again for money and for nostalgia so people will see it. But in live-action, everything looks less lively compared to the animated films the remakes are based on, plus, the photorealistic animation on the animals in the Lion King remake and Mufasa kind of look stiff and make the characters less lively, when I am sure in real life animals can be expressive too. I saw some side-by-side comparison between the animated and live action version of Mufasa’s death and the remake’s animation and the facial expressions were noticeably more stiffer. I just wish Disney would try and be a bit more creative instead of trying to remake every classic animated film they have using live-action, but given that the remakes gross a lot (plus the remakes sometimes grossed more than their animated originals) I don’t think they’ll stop.
Oh, do a lot of people say 06’s failure was why they chose to stick to the same few characters for newer games instead of using the newer characters as playable characters instead? I think I did hear some of the gameplay for the main characters in 06 wasn’t done well and was hard to control, and it probably discouraged them from making the characters playable. I have heard of people requesting for more characters in newer games to accompany the same characters. I just wonder how they will handle an 06 remake if it happened, and if they would be able to make the other playable characters’ gameplay better.
Yeah, most of the conditions to win in the Spirit battles are either just KO the enemy or drain their Stamina and get it to 0. There were a few conditions like “defeat the main fighter to win” during these Spirit battles where the main enemy is assisted by a few minions that get in your way, but they didn’t feel special or that different. If they did have a special rule to win the battle (like the one you mentioned) then that would have been super fun, and would have referenced the Spirit characters way better in my opinion. If the Spirit battles had more variety, I think it really could have made World of Light and the special battles a bit more fun. However, I think it maybe could have taken a lot of time to give each individual Spirit more special conditions during their Spirit battles given Ultimate has 1528 spirits and the game still had a lot of them before the DLC and post-game updates were released and added more Spirits.
I think having to watch a lot of films to understand specific ones I want to watch (as well as how I’m not too into superhero stuff and films) is why I haven’t really gotten into the MCU besides a few films and WandaVision, plus with Disney+ having a lot more Marvel shows released alongside the films and some of the shows tying into the events and stories of a few other films. I’m not a big fan of movies that are super long, like 2 or 3 hours and I’d be lying if I didn’t say I sometimes get impatient when a movie goes on for really long, even ones that I like a lot. I did like Sonic 2, but I kind of felt like the film was a bit long, but mostly coming from the wedding subplot they put in that I think wasn’t necessary and made it feel like I was watching a completely different film midway through, since at one point the film went from an action comedy film starring Sonic to a random romcom film that didn’t have any relations to Sonic at all. Despite that, I did like 2 but I think 3 outdoes that and the first film, and so far I’d say 3 is the best out of the trilogy. They are pretty good adaptations of the games while still having some original content in them. I’d say 3 felt the most like Sonic because of the story being mostly taken from Adventure 2, the film focusing more on the Sonic characters, and some of the elements and references being taken from a couple of the other games too, namely the Shadow spin-off and Heroes. If you can’t see 3 again in theaters, do you plan on buying it when it gets a digital and physical release? I might buy it when it goes digital, I can’t stop thinking about it after seeing it and being so amazed. I remember seeing clips of the Adventure 2 fandub and the second they released a trailer of 3 leading up to its released and showed the moon getting damaged for a few seconds, I saw so many memes and references to the fandub of Eggman’s announcement in Adventure 2. That moment is one of the well-known moments from that dub.
I did hear the 360 version of 06 was better than the PS3 version with how it ran. I am hoping the new Xbox backwards compatibility thing they mentioned back in April will cover more games, and hopefully the next console after the Series X and S will also try to support the same games and a few more. I am a bit surprised looking at the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility list for OG Xbox games and how that supported a ton of the games, and then the One and Series consoles only supported a couple of them instead.
I’m sorry. I hope things can get better. I really do hope that you’ll be fine.
“Woah-shi! It’s a double Yoshi explo-shi!” - Yoshi’s Woolly World ad, 2015
If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flippy from Happy Tree Friends.
@Sunsy Heh. Yup. I pretty much didn't get to participate in the rumors. At school, I was late to the party. I had forgotten about the Pokegods until relatively recently, but I do remember others. Bill's Secret Garden, where you could supposedly find Mew. The legendary truck one, which actually got a reference in, I think the Let's Go games, "Pikablu" and Togepi being findable, One about finding a hidden door in Cerulean Cave, which was another Mew thing, Pokemon Stadium 1 rewarding you with a Mew for finishing R2 Gym Leader Castle with a game built team, or something like that, and finally, the notion of reaching the Orange Islands ingame, which, tbh, was significant to me, as the main competitions in that part of the anime were significantly different, and I'd have liked to see them in a game.
And yeah. Ppl made up a 3d anthro Wolf Link render as a mod for some games.
@Tyranexx Ah. Hope your break goes well, and that I'll see you around!
Yeah, KH for DS isn't incredibly likely to get official remakes or anything, but there is a fan project.
That explains the HP games to me tbh. EA has such an awful reputation though.
Yeah, early Battle Frontier. Basically the switch between seasons 8 and 9. And yes, Ash's new voice grated on me a great deal. I stopped during Black and White, but I hear it's immediately afterward it gets better.
Nice that you get some decent cell reception at some times at least! I was surprised recently when my phone at least briefly worked in the back room.
For the Trails games, I definitely need some kind of guide. I've already forgotten what you said to start with.
Have a nice break! I'm hoping you can eventually get back to me!
@Pastellioli Yeah, licensing is a big issue. Like, Goldeneye was in licensing purgatory for decades.
I enjoyed SA1 DX, but never played the Dreamcast original. And Tales of Symphonia absolutely did downgrade over time.
Honestly, agreed with plushies and merch and the like.
Yeah, Hulu used to be great, now it's pretty non-functional on ps5. Crunchyroll doesn't ever exactly continue a video that freezes for me. I have to exit out, go back in, fast forward, and pray that doesn't cause it to crash again. Netflix is stable, but has gotten far too expensive. I don't recall the issues of Paramount +, but they were definitely issues. As for Microsoft Edge, honestly, I might've used it at some point, but then I heard that, at least on PC, it idly takes screenshots of whatever you happen to be doing at the time. Not even on the browser. Just, in general. I want it to be gone.
Yeah, the movies Disney made as animations simply do not work as live action. The big point here though, is that apparently, Disney has been making big budget, strong arm moves to try and keep Sonic 3 down. And they've been failing. They hide any replies on their social media that mention Sonic 3, buy off theaters so they can't have as many screens for Sonic 3, etc. (Like, after initial launch, Sonic 3 got 8 new screens nationwide. Not theaters, but screens.) I'm genuinely hoping Disney experiences enough failure that they're forced to stop.
Yeah. 06 is stated to be the reason they've just stuck to a few tried and tested characters. Idk if officially stated though. Cream used to be a mainstay. The main games notably had a number of playable characters up until 06. Recently, they did add Amy back in, finally, and we got Trip. But that's mostly it. I can imagine a remake greatly improving gameplay at the least. I got the nicer version of the game on 360, but it had glitches too. Some of the items you could get were practically begging to be exploited for such purposes, and the devs were absolutely rushed. There is so much potential with a remake for 06.
Yeah, giving each spirit a unique sort of scenario would have been too much. But they could absolutely have done something like, a genre by genre basis, or the like.
Yes. That meme of SA2 is immortal now. As for movies in general, trying to keep up is genuinely difficult. MCU is far too much to handle, and I dislike how it does things.
As for the Sonic movies, the first one was the one that impressed me the least, unless you count the Knuckles spinoff I was never able to finish. The second one was very lively, in spite of Jim Carrey deciding to throw in a stupid political reference at the climax. I liked the wedding subplot. Seeing that couple go kinda head to head was utterly hilarious. At the same time though, I didn't like the whole thing of Tails being injured, and the both of them trapped. I don't actually recall the Heroes or Shadow references.
I would like to get the whole trilogy sometime.
Yeah, backward compatibility is one of my big worries moving forward honestly. Along with DRM, and the practice Microsoft and Sony have taken of forcing you to download the full game, even if you have a physical copy. If Nintendo adopts that, no amount of storage space can save the next console. It's easily one of my biggest problems with the current market. Those two, with DRM maliciously hiding in the background.
Yeah, I'm hoping I can get better soon myself. It's gonna be tough though. In all honesty, I should be taking a break like Tyranexx. But I don't think I have enough of a life to do so.
@Anti-Matter Knowing your taste, you'd probably wouldn't like it. Sonic 3 is much darker than the previous two Sonic movies, and draws a lot of inspiration from both Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog, which the latter, is one of the darker Sonic series games.
It's a PG movie, so I'd say it's more for older kids than say. I don't know, I don't think of kids when I see movies, I usually think of whether I like it or not. Even if some of the animated stuff I watch is targeted to kids.
@Tyranexx Merry Christmas to you too. Mine was good, thanks for asking. Spent most of the day watching Christmas stuff with mom. Did get some Trolls stuff and Sonic X Shadow Generations. Also cracked top 10 in F-Zero 99 Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I'm glad your's was ok.
Indeed it is, I use to use OpenOffice too. Having tried Linux in the past made me, introduced me to the world of free and open source software. Even though I'm back on Windows, I still use some of it. I also have GIMP installed.
That's cool, usually meatballs are great when you mix other ingredients into them.
@Mariotag Pikablu, there's a name I haven't heard of in quite some time. What fans called Marill before it ever had a name, mostly for looking similar to Pikachu. I remember the Bill's Secret Garden one too, apparently there was a way to access behind Bill's house, even though you couldn't. Though, the Pokemon Stadium one is new to me. People made up anything to make it seem like Mew was catchable. I remember another one where you had to talk to the Safari Zone guy 1000 times or something, then he says something about your mom, when you returned to Pallet Town, your mom left you a Pokedex of rare Pokemon.
There was so much mystery surrounding rumors back then. Now they're rare since everything could easily be fact checked online.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Sunsy I know for sure speedrunners have to play through the game multiple times to get it all memorized and to prepare themselves for the actual speedrun. I think the fact that speedrunners play through games so many times to perfect their performance and skill for something that can sometimes be stressful is impressive and commendable, given I only play a specific game once and only replay it if I like the game a ton. The only game I can think of that I kinda have memorized and played more than once is Conker’s Bad Fur Day (two times, but technically three if the remake counts) but I think that even though I kind of memorized some parts of the game, I still think I’d do poorly on a speedrun, plus there are parts of the game that are so hard to play and require a lot of trial and error. I think the quickest speedrun I saw on a leaderboard for that was at around an hour, but I’m unsure of how people got that time fast when playing the game. I’d have to assume it could be glitches, given some speedruns utilize glitches and bugs in a game to speed through portions of it, plus I think the hardware can also play a factor in speedrunning time, since some consoles are slower than others and faster loading times reduce the time spent on a game. Speedrunning is just so impressive and seems like a fun hobby.
I can’t recall seeing the bad reception to the Boom games at the time of release since it was a decade ago. However, I am glad the tie-in show was good. It had so much great comedy and jokes, and I see quite a lot of clips of the show on Instagram pop up and some people quoting it in comment sections. Too bad the show won’t come back for another season though…
I am a big fan of fantasy, but I also do think sci-fi is cool, I especially liked it in the Perfect Dark games, paired with the spy theme they had to go with the sci-fi setting, since most of the time the spy games and media I see aren’t set in a futuristic time period or have any sci-fi elements. I think I have seen some of that Mario Party ad with Mario and the police. I have seen the Japanese Diddy Kong Racing ad in full in a couple of videos, this is a short version of it here:
It’s a cute ad and I think that seeing the characters officially animated in 2D is cool to see, given I’ve only seen the characters in 3D form only. The Japanese N64 ads seem very different from how most American N64 ads looked and felt. I think most American N64 ads focused on being revolutionary (one that comes to my mind is this one Mario 64 ad that showed gameplay from the game and it sounded like the guy talking over the gameplay was delivering a serious speech) and depending on the ad, were animated more in 3D or used live-action. The Japan ads seemed to be focused more on fun and sometimes cuteness and had 2D animation instead. Some of the American N64 ads I did see online were sometimes crazy though. I remember a few months ago, I was watching a compilation of various American N64 ads and I recall seeing an ad for this game (unfortunately I can’t recall the name) but it had a talking teddy bear that I think intentionally resembled the Snuggle fabric softener mascot and it’s a calm ad until the room that the bear is in gets destroyed by military tanks if I recall. I saw an ad they had for Conker’s Bad Fur Day but I found that ad was more weird than crazy with what it implied.
I absolutely loved Sonic 3, I’d say it’s the best in the trilogy and I’m excited to see what they do next with it! I am wondering what game they are planning on taking inspiration from for the 4th movie, there are two that come to my mind already. I’m in a big Sonic mood now haha. Eating while watching a movie is fun, but I tend to eat a lot of my food before watching something, and then I’ll watch a bit of it before stopping, but I’d want to maybe do that again sometime at home if my family wants to, I just don’t know what movie though. Usually we eat pizza, Chinese food or Mexican food while watching something. I kind of had that feeling with spoilers too recently! I saw Sonic 3 a few days after it released in theaters, but I saw some PSAs on Reddit and on NL that people were already posting spoilers and leaking parts of the movie 1-2 days prior to the film releasing in theaters, mainly the post-credit scene. I think it was also because some people saw early screenings of it and if I remember, they had an event where I think some critics and reviewers saw the film early, but critics are super professional and wouldn’t spoil a movie. Avoiding spoilers was fairly easy for me leading up to the day I was going to see it, but a day prior to seeing Sonic 3, Instagram made the unfortunate choice to recommend me a reel of the post-credit scene that someone spoiled and I was so disappointed that it showed up but I think it was my fault I chose to scroll on Instagram, given social media is full of spoiler videos and photos of newly released films.
Disney Infinity was really fun, it’s a shame the toys-to-life concept died off after the eighth-generation of game console era ended. They had planned a fourth game, 4.0., but cancelled it but revealed some scrapped characters and concept art for it. I didn’t hear until now Disney Infinity had a Wii port! That’s super cool. I’d love to have some plushies again, I used to have some Mario, Sonic and Pokémon plushes, but I don’t have them anymore. Plushes are so nice though and I’d like to have at least three or two of them.
It’s strange the pages yellowed given they weren’t in light and were in darker areas. The brand of sketchbooks I use are a Japanese brand called Maruman. They are good quality for dry media a markers (though alcohol markers bleed a bit) and have a nice tooth texture. I usually got them on Amazon (but importing makes them a bit expensive) but some dollar stores called Daiso have the sketchbooks for cheaper. The old Maruman sketchbooks were the ones that yellowed the most, but some other ones I got from different stores (such as Five Below) also had some pretty bad yellowing on a few pages. Luckily the yellowing was with my old art, my new artwork is in good condition

If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flippy from Happy Tree Friends.
@Sunsy
Ah, thanks.
I have no problem with sonic games but the movies... I already smelled the SEGA edginess that I don't like.
Even after I checked from Wikipedia for the quick summary of sonic 3 movie storyline, it didn't look like the movie I want to watch.
But I will wait for Paddington at Peru movie in February 2025.
@Tyranexx I think the N64 game library on NSO definitely looks better than how it was once it first started, but I still hear that it’s missing a few well-known games and titles, and of course there are people wanting some GameCube titles on there too. I am wondering when they will add the next retro console library on there, but I think it might be a while till they announce another significant NsO update. I’d only really want to get the Expansion Pack again if they added Diddy Kong Racing since they seem to have fixed licensing issues with Rare characters on Nintendo consoles, but I am still surprised they didn’t add any Donkey Kong N64 games after all those Game Boy Donkey Kong games they released a few weeks ago, but they’ll definitely do a game drop soon next year though. Losing game data is upsetting, I don’t really have any experiences with that but I did get kinda worried with NSO game data getting ruined and corrupted with the retro games, mainly because the retro games rely on save states rather than proper saves in-game and I think some people mentioned their retro game data got corrupted and they saw save states were unreliable on NSO. Luckily it worked fine for me, though I relied on save states a lot for the N64 games since there is no option to rewind time compared to the other game libraries like NES and SNES.
I think game guides and walkthroughs are necessary for a few old games, since some old games aren’t that thorough with explaining stuff compared to most newer games. I think it’ll definitely help me since I’m super confused over what to do next in Nuts and Bolts after I took a year long break from it.
@Mariotag It is good they worked out licensing with GoldenEye 007 and got it on both Switch and Xbox, though Rare was working on an upgraded XBLA version at one point in the 2000s that got scrapped because of the licensing issue and they never released it. I usually don’t see most older games having licensing issues, but I also think it can come from the companies involved. I think a lot of the games in Rare Replay, although using original IPs and characters, did have some licenses with the companies that published a few of the games (namely the NES and SNES games) and of course they couldn’t include the games using Nintendo characters at all.
Crunchyroll never crashed but the ads caused issues with how they froze and I either had to wait a few minutes for it to start or swipe the app out, log back in and go to the anime I was watching so I could have the ad properly play. Netflix worked the best, but I agree it seems to have gotten expensive with all the tiers they introduced and how they removed the Basic plan with no ads and instead had it replaced with a Standard plan, which is cheaper but comes with ads. The Microsoft Edge thing sounds so bad. The only times I used it was when I was achievement hunting on the Xbox, I’d go to TrueAchievements a ton when I was getting achievements for Rare Replay, but Edge was so slow and it made it such a pain to scroll down and read the achievement guides in full, plus the constant back and forth between going to back to the game and re-reading the guide was time-consuming. Now that I think about it I could have used my phone instead and used Google for the achievement list instead.
Wait, they’ve been actually doing that so their movie can make more? That’s actually insane and I can’t believe they have been apparently trying to boost the success of Mufasa so that Sonic 3 doesn’t make more money and sales than it. I knew there was going to be some competition between the two, people pointing out both films being released on the same day, as well as people making fun of this video Disney released that claimed Mufasa was currently the #1 film in the world (since there hasn’t been much talk about Mufasa as much as Sonic 3) but I wasn’t aware of the stuff Disney has been apparently doing so that Sonic 3 doesn’t surpass Mufasa in the box office. I wonder how the final box office grosses will look for the Mufasa and Sonic once their theatrical runs end. I do wish Disney would just stop with remaking their already good films, but I found it strange they are choosing to remake Moana already. I remember when they announced the remake, someone working at Disney said that they were unsure of remaking it since the film wasn’t super old compared to the other films that got remakes (Moana was from 2016, so 8 years ago) but they went with remaking it anyway. I just think the remakes fail to capture the magic and charm of the animated originals, and the worst part is how some of the movies look super dull in terms of colors, which was an issue everyone was pointing out a ton with the Peter Pan remake especially. Not to mention, some of the remakes seem way more serious than the originals and I just feel like that, on top of the liveliness of the animated films being gone in live-action and the colors being way more dull and gray just makes the remakes soulless.
Amy was a character requested for the games a ton from what I saw, so it was cool to see them bring her back again. I think an 06 remake could help the game a lot, and I do find it interesting that one of Sonic Team’s members wants to remake the game and fix it. Hopefully they do remake of 06 and a few of the old 3D Sonic games and fix a couple of flaws with them. I know for sure I would buy a Sonic remake if they did make a new one. I wonder what the next Sonic game will be…
If they did have specific conditions for the character maybe depending on the game genre or something like the game series they are from, that would have still been nice. I just wish the Spirit battles were a bit more fun and were more special, mainly from the concept of the Spirits supposed to be representing other characters and the fights supposed to be treated as fighting the Spirit character more than the actual fighter. I do wonder if the next game will bring Spirits back or bring back trophies, but given that trophies were time-consuming and difficult to make, I think Spirits or something similar could come back and replace trophies again. I just hope that they make the battles more interesting and fun to play if Spirits come back.
I’m just not into multiverse films or cinematic universes like the MCU, since that one has been running for a long time and has a bunch of media I need to watch and keep up with so I can understand the newer films. Out of all the Sonic films, the first one is the one I remember the least, and I can’t even recall a lot of the jokes from that one, but I think since the first movie is supposed to be setting up the world, stories and characters for the later films and the fact the film didn’t have much elements from the games, it’s probably why I can’t remember anything from it. I never watched the Knuckles spin-off though. It’s when it gets to the second film I think the films get better and the way the elements from the games are incorporated in the films with the original content work well. Although I didn’t find the wedding subplot necessary, I will say I did find parts of it funny, I just thought it felt like a different film when Tails was unconscious for a part of the movie and them both getting trapped and being missing in action for a part of it. I think because the wedding subplot took up a bit of the film’s later half and focused on the film characters more than Sonic and Tails, there were these arguments and debates people had regarding the humans taking up screentime in the film and people wanting the human characters to have less of a presence, but I never found the human characters like that, and I think characters like Agent Stone are likable and hilarious.
DRM is an issue. I do worry about the games I have on the Xbox being unusable at one point and how your rather buying a license to play the game than rather owning it. There was this issue that happened on the Xbox a few weeks ago that I can’t fully remember, but I think some games people owned went missing from their library and they couldn’t find or launch them, and some game pages were hidden from the Microsoft store. Some people had to contact Microsoft about it so they could play their games again and some showed proof of purchase and stuff like that but sometimes they’d get told the game doesn’t exist or it isn’t available and can’t play it. I think the issue was resolved, but I am hoping that DRM on that gets better as well as backwards compatibility on all consoles.
Hope you get better and remember to take it easy. You can take a break from online if you need to.
“Woah-shi! It’s a double Yoshi explo-shi!” - Yoshi’s Woolly World ad, 2015
If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flippy from Happy Tree Friends.
@Sunsy Yeah, pretty much. Honestly, I kinda miss those days. There was more hype. Big games weren't things you had to put on the backburner after getting them because they were too big. Or because you had too many... Part of it may also have been because I was younger, and saw friends more often. (As well as people in general)
@Pastellioli Yeah, though there was a Goldeneye remake that released. And yup. Rare couldn't touch those Nintendo characters.
Huh. So the big differences between us for CR were that, you were using a phone, while I was on console, and while you signed into an account, I decided to avoid using one. Worth considering. Also, surprisingly, I have yet to run into ads on Netflix. Though, I guess that means my mom decided on a plan that allowed both higher definition, and more devices using it...
Companies just love invading privacy these days, and I've been getting sick of it.
Wait, both Moana, and Peter Pan are getting remakes? Peter Pan makes a little sense. It's my understanding it was originally a stage play... And yeah. I've been seeing a bunch of videos of Disney throwing their weight around to get Sonic 3 fewer screenings. Also, the hilarity of them saying Mufasa was #1 in the world is compounded not only by Sonic 3 not yet being released fully worldwide, but also, apparently Disney saying that was in response to Paramount saying Sonic 3 was #1 in America.
Yeah, I'm not entirely sure when her first playable appearance was, but the earliest I know of was Sonic Adventure 1. She was added into Sonic Origins, making her more officially one of the original main characters, albeit retroactively. Sonic 06 being remade could impact the series so much. I would genuinely love for them to see the success their older style brought them again, and decide, yeah, let's have more playable characters in significant roles again. Idk how much the other games could benefit from remakes though.
Honestly, yeah. The spirits needed variety at the very least. They shouldn't have just been "KO this character who vaguely resembles the spirit character to win". And as I'd said before, the spirits were a big deal in terms of smash on the whole. And idk what they'll bring back or do for another entry.
Honestly, a big universe series done right could actually be good. One anime series I have previously enjoyed, even if the third seasons were just too messed up, is the Toaru series. Originally just being A Certain Magical Index, it eventually gained a bunch of spinoffs focusing on other characters and groups. And yeah. That might be why Sonic 1 wasn't as good. Sonic 2, while it was weird seeing the human characters take center stage, it did have its merits. Like G.U.N. being introduced. Sonic X and Sonic 06 pretty much soured a lot of people on the presence of human characters in the franchise. 06 because of the romance plot, and X because the main Sonic cast legitimately could not do anything for the first two seasons without help, or approval from the humans. As for Knuckles, I only saw the first couple episodes. I would like to finish it sometime.
Oh, Xbox had that happen? Yikes. Yeah. That's the kind of thing I'm afraid of. While, to be fair, games have apparently only ever being you purchasing a license since at least Gamecube era, back then at least, it seemed more to appease the pretense of "you do not own this IP or product. However, you do own the right to use this product."
The fact our games could just vanish at any time is scary. Those things are expensive!
Eh, honestly, I don't think I can manage a full on break. I don't exactly have much I can do offline. And sometimes, I have pretty bad anxiety, and just need to wind down while staying comfy in my bed. Which is where I put my laptop when it's out. Honestly, if I take it easy, I might really lose out. Thanks though.
