@EaglyBird Ooooh! I like that one! Maybe it is worth it!
Also what the heck is going on! One second you’re going to the core, the next minute there are two gods fighting! Shulk was really dead all along! Dickson is living up to his name! Fiora is going to die? The people of bionis have to die? The manado is a god? What is going on! I did not expect all that! And I don’t even know how to feel about zanza from a moral standpoint, he is a bad guy! But is he a bad guy? This is crazy! Xenoblade 2 did this to me as well and just pulled the rug right from under me!
Sorry just had to get that out. Also I’m definitely going to wait to finish the napon quest as I’m under leveled by about 12 levels lol.

@TheJGG well honestly, this is speaking about social matters, and genocide driven war is not exception. There are many games condemning past conflicts, why should anyone refrain from speaking up when it actually matters? If one of the most important objectives is to prevent past atrocities from happening in the future, drawing water into one's mouth when the atrocity actually repeats is counterproductive. Nevertheless, the situation is pretty odd, since it's not the official statement.
Also, I don't think it could worsen the international or corporational relationships anymore, as russia's relationship with pretty much anyone is nonexistent. And it's not a good market to be on.
The problem is that they already commented on it. They apologized, said that it's not their statement etc. What they should have done would be - "mistakes in Ukrainian subs to be patched in the next release". And that's it.
I also don't think there is any ground to call it hate speech. It's not based on any factor other than the fact that they are absolutely terrible beings and are being called out as such. Let us call a criminal a criminal.
Can't say I agree too much with your approach in this case. Yes, the Ukraine war is bad, and yes, speaking out on an individual basis is morally correct but when an official translation of your most massive game has deliberate instances of anti-Russia, pro-Ukrainian rhetoric, you have an automatic ethical responsibility to remain politically neutral. On this very site there are rules banning accounts primarily for political expression, because they have no place in games, and there are debates (especially Gary Lineker and the BBC if you're interested in that) as to whether athletes are allowed to express their political views when they are seen as important figures.
The Qatar World Cup, which I was at, was another interesting event because it tested how far some teams were willing to go to politicise sports. The way the BBC handled it was atrocious, and under the pretence of human rights they bashed Qatar for just about everything, ignoring the quality of the football and the infrastructure they had built, which was among the best for a sporting event this big. Sport and politics shouldn't mix, and for that matter neither should gaming and politics, being entertainment industries first and foremost.
Let's turn it around and pretend that it is completely acceptable though. What if the French translation had references to Nazis? Not only is it murky ground content wise but the game's also totally removed from a timeless context, whereas it would be much easier to call someone an existing curse word. This is different from games like Wolfenstein though, because the entire game is about killing Nazis, but even then that game was subject to censorship (Nintendo ordered it for the SNES).
We're not gonna be totally right about everything but despite how morally correct it may be to criticise Russia, the invasion is not and should not be a carte blanche, if you will. This was a line crossed and they look to be fixing it... it's funny that we wouldn't even be discussing it if they did a quiet patch lol.
@Rambler Very true, though I was talking about things like transport, logistics and the possibility of attending multiple games. There was a lot of debate as to whether Qatar was realistically fit to host the World Cup but the truth is it probably had better infrastructure than any of the other tournaments before. Buses, underground railway, not too bad traffic… I’ve been to F1 races harder to access than this one. So while you’re absolutely right, I didn’t mean that area, only the pre-existing prejudice against Qatar shadowing their actual competence.
DISCLAMER First of all I would like to say that nothing in this post is discussing politics
@TheJGG why should there be an ethic responsibility for that? It's a product, its quality is determined by its value to customers. If russians don't like being called war criminals, they can just... not commit war crimes. Alas, given their history, this is highly unlikely. But I digress.
Firstly, it's not an official stance of CDPR but instead of apologizing to anyone, they should have just patched it out and not say a word about it. It happened, but apologizing is breaking neutrality.
Also, is it even political anymore? If a civilian shoots another civilian, it's not called politics. Why would that change only because the aggressor wears a uniform? Why should he be not criticized for doing a bad thing? You can shush any discussion by saying that it's politics, but the honest down to earth truth is that nothing is just politics.
So, should the people just ignore the fact that all this infrastructure was built basically on slavery? Should we focus on the past and mourn humanity's past mistake while turning the blind eye to the evil that happens before our eyes, leaving the next generations to mourn their past in turn, and learning nothing from it?
For the sake of game integrity, such things should be planned and consistent, of course. And I have no doubts that most of the Ukrainian freestyle translation should be axed, but only because it doesn't fit the game's context. Without apologizing. There is no guilt in bringing evil to light for humanity to judge. It's not politics, it's justice.
Yeah, my point exactly about silent patch. That would be neutrality.
@Rambler word up, arab countries have been doing it for a long time, and bringing it to light is a very good opportunity to talk about human rights violations. Again, it's not politics.
@EaglyBird It’s only crazy hat they pulled the same stunt with two and it worked just fine! I am actually surprised! I keep forgetting the games never give you all the answers up front!
I would if bana didn’t kick my butt lmao, I will go back when I’m level 71 or 70 and see if I can do it lol.
