@HobbitGamer I noticed you were still playing Switcher 3 before I went offline last night. I dipped into some SteamWorld Dig 2 for about an hour before bedtime. That was almost at 11:30 here.
@Heavyarms55 Yep, that's been interesting to say the least. A "zoo" is probably a better description. I sometimes wonder what we'd do if we had more than a two-party system like some other countries....

@Tyranexx It would actually be a representative republic like it's supposed to be...
But at the moment I'm much more worried that the fool might have pushed us toward another disastrous war. Once again, I am so glad I turned down that ROTC scholarship offer I had in high school. Could have had a full ride in university, all I had to do was sell my soul to the military. When my grandfather served, America fought in defense of itself and its allies. But these days America is always the aggressor.
War with Iran is especially terrifying since Iran has a pretty close relationship with Russia and China.
@Heavyarms55 I had a grandfather who was drafted to serve in Korea. He never talked about it much according to my dad, but we were able to hear some stories from an old army buddy of his before he passed away several years ago. Heavy stuff. Grandpa passed away when I was pretty young, so I barely remember him.
I also have a cousin who was a ranger in the US Army until a few years ago. A lot of what he experienced in the Middle East really messed him up. He's getting back on track, but it's been a tough road.
I have respect for a lot of those who serve/have served in the military. However, I also don't love war and do not appreciate any conflict outside of legit defense.

@Tyranexx Yep, I took the day off and played Switcher into the wee hours last night. Still getting the hang of combat. After playing AC games, close quarter combat in Switcher is a big departure that I’m struggling with.
@Heavyarms55 I’m the first generation in my family to not serve since WWII (medical). I’m also a huge history nerd and general geopolitical nerd. Despite what all the knee jerk reactions since last week say, the US is no closer to a war with Iran than it was when Ronald Reagan decided to sink a third of Iran’s naval forces. Iran’s relations with China and Iran are not only fleeting, but intrinsic on economic value. The Middle East has also always been a shifting board since the beginning of the Ottoman Empire, no matter what armaments are involved.
I’m sure I can’t really reassure you, because (like everyone right now) I don’t have more answers, but I hope you don’t lose any sleep over it.
@Tyranexx A big part of my anti-war position is because of my concern for the troops. People sign up to serve because they believe they are protecting their nation. That trust and loyalty should not be abused. My grandfather fought the Nazis and now sizable minorities of a major political group in America are neo-Nazis. It makes me somewhat glad my grandfather passed away before it became "normal". My college roommate did take an ROTC scholarship, he is in the army now and I fear for him.

And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
@Tyranexx It can't be avoided. It is in the human nature to wage wars and kill each other. This was proven many many many many many times and it will never change.
@Tyranexx Ma'am, I'll kindly ask you to step aside, and leave the making jokes about not being aware about developers, when they previously already stated that their next game might be of more interest to them, to the professionals who won't give away important clues like that...
@Eel What? He calls himself "first_amendment" now? How pathetic. He used to be called "LoveEmpath" a name that most definitely didn't fit him either, and he was infamously harassing both members and NLife crew about how European football wasn't really football...
@ogo79 You again? So, I guess that means no New Year's resolution about being a bit less tardy with your replies to prevent that no one knows what the heck you're talking about, huh?
Happy New Year to you too, by the way.
@Zuljaras Well, to put it more correctly and eloquently: it's in the human nature to always be in conflict, which is a bit more diverse than just war. Waging war is just one of the many ways of expressing states of conflict.
And in essence, being in conflict, and by extension waging war, is basically just people beating their chests, wanting to make statements and validating themselves. It's either a confidence or an insecurity issue. Or just plain stealing from others what you yourself don't have access to by any normal means...
@HobbitGamer The worst thing that's really going to happen, is that oil prices may take a steep climb, but other than that, and perhaps a lonely, deranged, revenge-seeking nut, nothing will come of this.
Our local and US-based America and Middle East experts are all in agreement over this. Iran has a big army, and while it also has many weapons, most of that army and its weapons is hopelessly outdated. The problem for them, according to the experts, is that they (the Iranian government) can't just sit back and do nothing, because the people won't stand for that, so they'd lose face, but they are also in no position to wage war with the US, so besides the odd incident, this will all just flare up a bit, with boisterous statements back and forth, and then it will probably slowly fizzle out over the coming months.

Guns and drones are for the weak. Every potentially violent impasse/disagreement on the world stage should be settled with a fighting tournament, Best of the Best style, where each country sends their five greatest fighters for a full contact tournament where winner takes all.
@ThanosReXXX - Please forgive MY tardiness! Yes, I was off with the kids for almost the entirety of their Christmas vacation, and I paid dearly for that yesterday; my first day back. I almost forgot how to drive during that stretch, so you can imagine my struggle trying to regain my pro form throughout the day. Still not sure I’m all the way back. Oh, and a belated thanks for thinking of me and alerting me to the free redemption code. Looks like I missed out on this one, but there’s another in the works. Is the game fun?
@bimmy-lee Yeah it is, although admittedly, I'm not very good at these kinds of games, where inertia and minute controls plays a big part, and aside from that, some tiny niggles concerning camera control, lack of some atmospheric music and some really bad in-game English texts and phrases, but all in all, still decent enough, nonetheless. And hey, it was a freebie, so...

@ThanosReXXX - I think that’s a nice bit of marketing strategy for a small developer with confidence in their game. Go to an appropriate fan site, drop 10 redemption codes in the forums, assume a large portion of those codes will be snatched up by more active members of the community. It’s unlikely a person will savage a freebie, so “it’s a decent little game” is essentially the ground floor impression that will be shared.
I’m not great at physics and inertia based games either. I have friends that are really good at games like Marble Madness and Super Monkey Ball, but I’ve always been poor at them. They’re inherently fun to play though. I always get invested in learning the physics, even if I never master them.
@Heavyarms55 Eventually even the frog figures out the stone is cold and rubs his butt raw before trying to create a makeshift cushion out of some leaves and moss. Buttons without tactile response will drive anyone mad eventually, even kids that grew up with them.
@Tyranexx I'd kill for a two party system. We have a one party system that pretends to be two, that are rubber stamps for corporate interests that are controlled by a handful of investment banks and funds, which are, increasingly directly controlled by the CCP.
@Heavyarms55 WWIII (Feat. P.R.O.C.) is inevitable no matter how you slice it. Maybe it happens now, maybe it happens in 50 years. But it'll happen because it can't not happen, and they're not exactly hiding that they're preparing for it, and not exactly hiding that they aren't interested in avoiding it. At the moment though, China's certainly not interested in biting the hand that's feeding it. The US is a beholden cash cow, and they're certainly not going to butcher the cow. Russia is in a position to almost always benefit from a fight right now, but only mild and proxy ones, nothing direct. China has too many plans in motion, it's not the time for them to jump into anything for a third party. Wake me when they make their full move through Senkaku into Taiwa..err...Taipei. They just have to finish up with Hong Kong first, and that's the easy one.
@Zuljaras I imagine, given your locale, the US/Western European views on the politics, systems, and history of the area are baffling and bewildering at times. To most in the US, everything East of the Rhine is the place that "used to be the Russians", and all of it is vaguely a "Communist police state" with little concept as to what any of it actually is or was
BTW, I'm still planning to look into the Ebay option on Sandshrew...haven't had time!
@NEStalgia Btw Bulgaria was a communist country up to 1990. We kind of hate the communist regime. there are still 10-20% Bulgarians that liked the communist regime because they are idiots.
The problem is that most people in Europe know American politics and American lifestyle better then the American themselves.
I saw a video that American people in LA do not know that Washington DC was named after George Washington … Yes on the street they say that they do not know. And an Italian tourists knew this when they were asked the same day.
A really like American culture. I love the movies, the innovation and some of the traditions. But the modern thinking of what I see on the news is very alarming.
Oh and great if you can look into that option. I do not know if I can send gifts but it would be fantastic if there is an option.
