Haha. Whenever classic Mega man springs up in a conversation we always wind up trashing 4-6.
6 felt completely uneccessary and was probably even duller than 5, with practically zero challenge, the stages themselves were so detailed that MM's unchanged sprite itself looked completely out of place. 5 was so bland it hurt, but somehow more consistently enjoyable than 4 was and it had the 2nd best NA Mega Man box art on NES(with 2 taking the crown), and i really liked some of it's Robot Masters including Gravity Man.
4 was when i got hit with Mega-fatigue. Like you, it's when i felt burn out on the series, back in the earlier 90's. It was still the last 8-bit MM sequel that to have some of the prior games essense in tact, because 5&6 felt like they were completely outsourced to a different lesser company all together.
Even MM3 as good as it is, failed to carry over the spirit & magic of both MM2 & 1. It's darker grittier tone and less colorful stages and sound, at times left me feeling glum. What sucks about blasting back to the NES MM games is that they're plagued to the brim with sprite flicker and even slow down, with 3 being the biggest culpret.
MM9 & MM10 don't have either obviously because they were 8-bit games running on Wii hardware which was like a maxed out, overlocked original XBOX.
I've really come to appreciate 7 these days too. It doesn't have the best controls(Probably due to MM's larger sprite maybe), but the next gen 16-bit visuals & Audio, Art style, choice of colours and just overall presentation felt like a beath of fresh air coming from 6 8-bit MM titles. Mega Man & Bass(SNES) is really good too, and 8 is worth checking out if you can get past it's weird elevator japanesey' spa music and lousy voice acting. 2, 9, 7, MM&B and 1 are still my favourites. With 10 being my least. It has such a depressing and sad tone to most of the experience. Lacks the spark, fun and adventurous vibe that made 9 so great.
And it's crazy, I'm finally going to sit down and get through MM11 in December. I've put that one off for years now. Can't believe it's been out since 2018. I have the PS4 version & Switch port. It's a double edged sword. PS4 version has anti-aliazing, zero frame rate issues and looks ever so slightly better in terms of character armor reflections and whatever. But I just hate using the DualSense's D-pad to play it.
Switch version has the occasional frame rate stuttering, looks jaggier and a pinch duller with certain visuals, but it's just so much more fun and natural to play using the Pro/Pro 2 controllers more traditionally styled d-pad. 7 & 11 are the only two I have yet to finish in the classic series. Meanwhile, MM11 came out 7 years ago. Why hasn't there been a MM12? Capcom's neglect for the Blue Bomber is getting really annoying. But at least Resident Evil is on fire, has been since 7.
Pretty good. It didn't rival the experience i had trudging through Castlevania 1 & 3 on the Wii's Virtual Console(On my trusty 32" Sony WEGA CRT) back in 2009/2010, but it's definitly more polished and doesn't suffer from the limitations from old hardware, or a controller with a limited amount of buttons.
No slow down, no sprite flicker, faster staircase walking(Thank he-man), faster door opening, Widescreen, HD Rumble and you can press X to use your sub-weapon instead of pressing UP + B. I mean really, after playing through this, going back to both C1&3 feels a bit dated and cumbersome.
1&3 offer more challenge(That is until you unlock Nightmare Mode on COTM, but you have to finish the main game on normal to get it), and the bosses themselves were more memorable in design, and you just felt more on your toes, had your blood pumping and felt more exhilirating than COTM simply because check points didn't exist in either game after you lost your lives. You had far more to lose, consequences for your mistakes actually felt like consequences.
COTM falls victom to most modern games, where you don't start all the way back from whatever stage your at after you lose lets say 4 lives. You just start back at an earlier check point. lol This really tarnishes the intensitiy and suspense and dumbs down the difficulty. Castlevania 1&3 weren't playing around, so props for that. After beating CI and especially 3, you really felt that sense of reward. You mastered enemy placement & boss patterns after losing and losing, and you'd gradually get better each time you got back up and gave it another shot. COTM kind of prevents this, because you start half way through the stage once your lives have been depleted(Or maybe its when all 4 characters die)
Also, juggling 4 different characters with multiple sub-weapons(Each character i think has around 3 with the exception of that Allucard wanabee who just turns into a bat) can feel a little overwhelming at times as well. Gameplay & difficulty aside, there are some legit amazing bangers in the OST, and the game looks great overall aside from a few lackluster boss designs. None of which harken back to the monsters you see in Castlevania. They're more fantasy/anime based. Also there's multiple branching paths so you'll never see what the entire game offers with one playthrough for better or worse.
It's a good time, and Classic Castlevania fans will be in for a treat. But i don't know, I just don't like Castlevania as much I used to. Contra is just so much more satisfying(Super Cyborg was so awesome)And this game in particular isn't doing enough new things to truly make it stand out. It's a QOL'd up the ying yang modernized take on CIII: Dracula's Curse. Overall, I'd smack it with a low 8/10. If the checkpoint system was gonzo after losing all of your lives, or 4 characters dying, it would of left a stronger impression.
Favourite Castlevania bare none will forever be....Rondo of Blood.
Edit: Using both the joy-cons, de-tached Wii-style in each hand when playing docked, amps up the HD Rumble effect. With the joy-cons the HD Rumble feels more detailed, prominant and explosive vs how it feels in the Pro Controller. Problem is, holding them in each hand gets uncomfortable pretty quick. I almost wish i would of just played it with the DogPaddle Controller shell grip(Which would of solved the comfort issue) to nearly maintain the better HD Rumble effect vs the Pro Controller.
@WaveBoy I remember my dad taking me to Toys R Us with my allowance, birthday money thay I was saving up for awhile to get some games.
Ah Toys R Us now that was an experience buying games. From taking the game ticket from it's sleeve and going up to the cashier. Then taking your receipt to the pick up area giving it to the attendant where they would disappear into a little room and come back with your game. Such an awesome experience for a kid truly made shopping fun.
Anyway, I got Mega Man 4 and TMNT 3 that day and seriously I only played MM4 for maybe an hour or two at the most when I got home. I was so disappointed with it. There was nothing that made it seem new or improved except for the enemies take more hits from the normal arm cannon because they wanted you to use the charge shots. I dont think I ever played that copy again. After that 5 and 6 were just weekend rentals.

I just beat (Yakuza Kiwami) and would give it a 8.5 out of 10. I really liked Yakuza Kiwami and would recommend it to anyone who likes action or beat'em'ups. It took me 20.5 hours to beat so it wasn't to short or to long it was just about right.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes on the Metroid Prime Trilogy on wii.
I do like this game, but man does it have it's flaws, and can definitely be a slog at points. Now on to Prime 3 Corruption which I only played through once back during the Wii days.
@StewdaMegaManNerd Remarks like that just remind me why I dont go to Reddit. I know alot of people praise MM4 and to be honest out of that last 3 NES games its probably my favorite once I get around the bullet sponge enemies. I will say that it does have on of my favorite Robot Master level songs in the series, Dust Man's but other then that its mostly forgetable.

I found Prime 2's maze like structure alternating between Light and Dark Aether to be very confusing to put it mildly but by the time I got to my third Playthrough getting around became second nature to me. The final boss the Ing Emperor fight is still my favourite and it's made even better when you obtain the Sonic Boom, Samus's most powerful weapon.
Absolutely loved it. The battle system was different and interesting. I Spent a solid 40 hours on it and even got the platinum trophy (I got 100% trophies, but I still didn't 100% the actual game). I recommend it for anyone who likes action JRPGs, or just JRPGs in general. Unfortunately, the PS4 version is slightly censored (I knew about this before playing and only accepted it because it was just a little bit, but this is a nitpick of mine), so I recommend the uncensored Switch, Steam, or GOG versions more.
The overall verdict: actual game 10/10, PS4 version 8/10
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons

@Nep-Nep-Freak Bit harsh dropping a point for each of the CG scenes that was changed on the PS4 version. I get that some people are against censorship, but it literally made no difference to the game, and would you have even noticed if you hadn't known about it beforehand?
Re:4 on gamecube.
Great game. Final boss was a bit underwhelming and around the end it kinda felt like I was playing call of duty due to how the island started looking more like a battlefield (I've never played a call of duty game before). Still a good game though.

Totally agree. Ratings are suppose to be non-bias meaning you dont knock of points for personal views. I mean mentioning it is one thing like this version censored stuff and if you don't like it then there is this version. But knocking of points because you dont like censorship is wrong as it doesnt affect gameplay or anything its just personal.

Beat Tales of Vesperia after sitting on the last fourth of the story for so long, thus being my 3rd Tales game completed(along with Symphonia and Abyss). For how how popular it is, it sorta just.....ends? Like the heroes save the day and beat the villain, but after ToS and TotA I was sorta expecting something a little more, you know? Even an significant epilogue like those two games.
Not saying I don't like it, far from it. The story is still good, the cast is fantastic, probably my second? Maybe 3rd favorite cast in the series(along with Symphonia and Berseria), Yuri himself is one of my favorite protagonists. Still definitely worth recommending
Finished the Guns Love and Tentacles DLC for Borderlands 3. Another solid DLC, seriously I am enjoying the DLC stories for Borderlands 3 alot more then the main story. I loved the Lovecraftian theme of this DLC. Next up will be Krieg's DLC which is the one I have been looking forward to the most.

Terror of Hemasaurus
Twenty stages, a little over a couple hours from start to finish. This nod to Rampage is short and sweet. The sarcasm in the story is appreciated. Perhaps not an award-winner, but toppling physics-based high rises for the sake of clearing stages feels just right.
Recommended.

Finally went ahead and finished Luigi’s Mansion after it came out on NSO. It always grinded my gears that people would put down the newer games in favor of this one, so I was almost preparing myself to dislike it out of spite, but unfortunately just about everything people says about it is correct. The atmosphere is far better than the other games, with the game straddling the line perfectly between charming and kind of spooky, the final boss fight genuinely being a bit unsettling. The gameplay, while not quite as satisfying as the other two, has a much better difficulty balance that had me dying a few times and would have had me die a few more if I didn’t put a suspend point right before bosses. These two things put this game above Dark Moon for me, as well as my disdain for that game’s mission structure. However, I still like 3 slightly more due to its stellar graphics, fun slam mechanic, and the fact that I had to walk through the courtyard one or two too many times. I also prefer 3’s bosses slightly to the original’s, with so many being a case of just solving this puzzle and then the boss dies, and some even making you do the puzzle again if you don’t get the ghost in one go. However, I still thoroughly enjoyed the game. It stands as a neat 8/10 between 3’s 8.5/10 and Dark Moon’s 7.5/10.

Finished Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake earlier this week, and with this I completed the Dragon Quest I+II HD-2D Remake games. Dragon Quest II is a polished jrpg grinder, with noble characters and dialogue. The music is nice and the scenery is beautiful.
