@DarthNocturnal I hate time limits usually, I don't see the reason why they put them in Mario games for example. But I don't think I could love a Pikmin game without the timer. It works for me in Pikmin games.
@Tsurii That's awesome! Even more of a reason to get MHXX on the Switch! I'll do multiplayer sometimes, but sp is my preference, and a lot of the G rank hunts in MH4U were annoying to do solo.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@DarthNocturnal I agree! Two is the best one in my book. The cave systems were so fun and could get pretty brutal. Though they did make combat alot easier for the second game. It was not that hard to go the whole game without losing many pikmin, where the first and third games were less merciful on pikmin lives.
@IceClimbers I saw that on Gematsu. Good, I say. Actually make Kojima work on something to show off. I can't stand Death Stranding and all the hype it's getting right now. If it weren't for kojima's name attached to it, it wouldn't be as publicized, I believe.
@Taurii Ah, ok. It must have been early when I watched the trailer this morning. I rewatched it and it doesn't look like a Musou game lol. Kinda threw me off.
Nah man, pikmin 2 is by far the best one. I hope the fourth does away with the timer unless it's as strict as the first. The thirds might ad well have not been there with how generous it was.
@MarcelRguez They made sense story wise, which is why the second game was so great. You were there just to pick up cool treasures. I wouldn't have minded a timer, but like I said, only if it was like the first. The third game might as well have not had it.
I wouldn't care if the 4th game has it, but they need to come up with something better than "crash landed, lets collect fruit".
Which brings me to another point, the third game was pretty, but it was lame in resource collecting. Not as cool as ship parts or name brand treasures. They need to bring that back.
Is there even a possibility that we see a third party shocker from a western publisher on Switch? This is going to be such an interesting E3. Nintendo has a console out that is selling well and they can't keep in Stock and no western publisher is willing to put their heavy hitter on the console.
@Qwertyninty I'm optimistic that Nintendo still have some major announcements up their sleeves My main cause for optimism is because, when I look at their marketing strategy for 2017, it's been pretty flawless up to this point.
This year in gaming has been all about Nintendo - from the Switch reveal presentation, to the launch (& Zelda hype) and all of the strategic drip-feeding of content and reveals since - they've created major momentum, they're riding the crest of the wave & I feel like we're in the midst of the next phase of their 2017 masterplan: dominating E3! ..the headlines in the run up to the event have, again, been dominated by Nintendo - they've ensured that there are talking points before, during and after the event - which suggests, to me, that they've been planning for this period for a while...and it's no accident, this year has been carefully choreographed from start to finish.
I'm not saying that they'll totally blow us away at E3 - but I'm sure that they've held enough back to create enough extra buzz so that they can continue riding this wave through to Christmas...at the launch presentation, Skyrim and FIFA were revealed to create enough of a buzz to see them through for a while - I'd imagine that E3 will at least have a couple of similar surprises to help them maintain momentum ..maybe a couple of AAA's?
I'm more concerned about Microsoft and, in particular (as a PS4 owner), Sony, to be honest...with Scorpio - as impressive as its specs are - I can't see it becoming anything more than a niche product aimed at those chasing the very highest-end experience...as for Sony, well, I'm not even sure why they're bothering at this point! :/
@MarcelRguez Yep that's a great line up there. Tiger Woods 09 came out on Wii that year too which was a really fantastic golf game. They even bettered it the next year with added motion plus controls. Grandslam Tennis also arrived in 09 and that has to be one of the greatest sports games I've ever played. With the improved motion in the Joy-con, they could improve those games even further but sadly I doubt either will happen.
That was an amazing year from EA. To either end of that there was also Dragon Age: Origins, The Saboteur and another gem or two. That was the last gasp of EA as a real publisher. After that they started shutting down and taking over almost every related company and realigning entirely around their sports franchises. Not many games to their name these days but they sure sell a lot of those.
