@Karakato Hugo tweeted this: "Awesome Flipper 2 action... http://instagr.am/p/jeQ2/" Also, again from his Twitter feed, pianos may play a role in Flipper 2 bonus levels. Or something.
@Odnetnin: haha.. cool to see people actually check my twitter
thanks to everyone for the kind words! Hopefully I get to share some more information about the game very soon!
@Karakato_001: I would start with Java. Because it's seems easier to start with on a PC, everything is basically free and it has alot of libraries with cool functions to get you started right away.
The best language for developing games depends on which platform you want it to run,etc but mostly it will be C/C++. However, this doesn't really matter at the beginning (since you don't need the full speed for simple games). And Java is pretty similar to C/C++ syntax. So it would probably is not going to be a big deal for you to switch to C/C++ once you know Java!
Visual Basic is very nice aswell, but only for writing tools (I make my level editors and other tools in VB). However it's not fast and there for not good for developing games.
Hugo, about how much can you make being a game designer? I've been becoming more and more interested in making my crazy ideas come to life as games and it would be cool to know. Also I'm really excited for flipper 2. I got 500 points already set aside for the game!
between 0 dollars and a million dollars. It all depends on the games you create.
Best advice would be to learn something next to game designer. Game designers aren't paid very well (expect if you are a big fish like miyamoto) and there aren't too many 'game designer' jobs out there.
So it's handy to be a programmer or artist on the side. It's also easier to get a job in the industry this way.
It's interesting to see you take such a different direction with the sequel, from the 3d-iso sort of puzzle style to a platformer...and a one-button controlled platformer at that! Definitely piqued my curiosity in the game. Always inspiring to see a 'little fish' living the dream:)
PS, just noticed that the stained glass in the background from Odnetnin's screenshots is of Flush's owner, nice touch!
