Now, I'm not a massive fan of Amiibo. However I will admit that I own two Amiibo figures. I own a Retro Mario (in original colours) and a Duck Hunt Amiibo. The thing that kinda bothers me is that IMO the quality of Retro Mario Amiibo is much better than my Duck Hunt Amiibo.
Seeing as the Zelda 30th Anniversary is this year, including the Metroid 30th, I was hoping to see a Retro Link Amiibo in similar vein to the Retro Mario Amiibo. Instead there's the Wolf Link Amiibo, which I'll admit I love the look of, but I just love the 3D block pixels on the Retro Mario Amiibo, and would love to see the 8 Bit Link sprite as an Amiibo. but seeing as it's Metroid's 30th Anniversary in August, I would love to see a Retro Samus or an 8 bit Metroid Amiibo too.
Though in all honesty, I'm a little worried that Nintendo is passing up on these anniversaries seeing as the Zelda one was in February. I was hoping to see a Zelda Maker, or a remake of the original Zelda game. But seeing as there's so many Zelda ports on the WiiU, that might be the reason why there wasn't that much fanfare compared with Mario's last year. I'm hoping that Nintendo does something with Metroid, maybe a 3DS remake of Metroid 2 maybe? Hopefully a Retro Samus?
This year, we got Twilight Princes HD, Zelda U, and Metroid Prime: Federation Force to celebrate anniversaries. I wouldn't mind a new line-up of amiibo for one of these anniversaries but if it did happen then it would probably only be Zelda. We are getting a Kirby line this year and I am not sure if they would want to launch another line in the fall but maybe.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
I feel like Nintendo has reached a point where every year is a special anniversary for a series lol
Very true, but I see Mario, Zelda and Metroid as Nintendo's Flagship franchises. IMO they nailed it with Mario Maker, and I'm just not seeing it with Zelda and Metroid.

I see it with Zelda, not Metroid as much. But Zelda is getting a big release, a HD port, and Tri-Force Heroes content. Plus we still don't know what is happening The second half of the year (outside of Zelda U)

Which is a shame seeing as I love the franchise! It's the one Nintendo franchise where I have beaten all the games including Pinball!
Plus, I'm in the minority who thought that Other M wasn't that bad.
Metroid is a smaller series for Nintendo. I kinda consider it a well funded indie series. Normally it isn't a series that explodes like Mario or Zelda in sales. It did well during the Prime Trilogy but a lot of articles were comparing it to Halo and Killzone at the time, which helped with its popularity. I would like to see something done but it won't get a big game this year like Zelda is, but maybe we will see a Metroid 2 remake or a HD of all 2D Metroid games or something. We still ahve half a year with nothing really announced.

You're not the only one, I have it on good authority that @Bezerker99 thinks it's the best Game in the franchise.
I wouldn't say that personally. Super Metroid is still the best Metroid game IMO. I just want to see a remake of Metroid 2 in similar vein to how Zero Mission improved the NES game.
For me it was the Prime games, especially the first. Wii motion controls worked well with the ports of 1 and 2 in Trilogy though Splatoon controls would probably do it even more justice so kind of a shame Trilogy came out in the Wii era instead of say 2016 for example.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force is doing a good job at trying to be the best Metroid game ever.....but it's going to be hard to topple the greatness that is Other M.
