Topic: Yay new eShop pickups!

@Eel Yeah wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be considering my systems were in storage for 3-4 years. Gotta do repairs on my gamepads though. Just snagging the japanese fire emblems and the rest of the taiko no tatsujin dlc I don’t have. Picked up the wii fatal frame game (not sure why as I don’t like the series but eh panic buy I guess) as well. I really did buy most of what I wanted during the WiiU’s life. Same with 3DS.

@Ryu_Niiyama oh my gamepad. Battery life? Ten minutes. Touch screen? 95% functional. Overall condition? Creaky.

I hope it still has a long life ahead of it, but anyone would think it comes from the early 2000’s.

@Eel Yeah I have to replace the batteries on both and one of my screens is yellowing despite being in the same box so I just ordered a replacement screen. I think I have spent more on repairs than anything. Nah, once I can finish buying the taiko dlc I am done.

One of the little guilty pleasure-ish purchases I made earlier this month that I didn’t bother mentioning is MyNotebook Green.

It’s one of those weird products of the DSi time, when little apps were something everyone would buy… and, while I still have the blue edition on my DSi, and tan edition on my XL, my green 2DS didn’t have one, and… well, it’s green!

So yes. The eShop closure made me buy an outdated note taking app.

I suppose it’s not double dipping if it’s different colors right…

Had to dump another 5000 yen at it but I finally have all the music dlc for all the taiko games, all the fire emblems and famicom wars and super famicom wars. I think I am done. Also got shovel knight. I have it physical but I have never seen treasure trove that cheap.

@Ryu_Niiyama Does the physical of Shovel Knight not unlock Treasure Trove?

I've just bought the BoxBoy games. Only had the first previously.

@gcunit yes the physical cartridge received Treasure Trove as an update.

I also got the digital copy despite having the cartridge because it was cheap 😅

@Eel Thanks. Just so happens that I inserted my physical cartridge for the first time last night (3D effect is simple but looks nice, worth triple dipping for) and I couldn't remember if it said anything about an update or not.

My 3DS is on cfw so I just rip my games to it anyway, but there were certainly a few tempting digital sales on that I'd have succumbed to otherwise.

Jeez tho. As much as I'm salty about these eshops closing, I'm not gonna miss certain aspects of the experience.

If you buy something, you get the option to download immediately, or wait for Sleep-mode. This Treasure Trove update didn't give me that option, and now I'm stuck with it downloading a sizeable update and I can't do anything else with it in the meantime. At least in sleep mode you choose when it happens, and you don't expend battery needlessly powering the screens.

@gcunit I couldn’t remember if it did or not. I’m still unpacking games so I wouldn’t have been able to locate it before the shop closed anyway.

@Ryu_Niiyama No biggie, I'm pretty confident updates like that will still be available anyway.

My 2DS is so full of demos I think the menu now takes a bit longer to load.

Oh. I was going back in for one more demo to fill in one square in the menu, and it’s down for maintenance….

Geez apparently I never redeemed any of the 3ds purchases I made in smash. Just spent 20 minutes putting in codes. But at least I didn’t lose the items I paid for.

@Ryu_Niiyama oh wow that was a close one then! Glad they decided to extend the time for that.

I considered buying a few characters on my 2DS to fill out the character select screen, but they were still rather pricy so I decided not to… I did get the retro stages though! Love having the extra songs.

@Eel yeah I had deleted the receipts(or at least couldn’t locate them on my phone) so I had to turn on the wiiu and pull receipts from 2016 and input the codes.
