Well its probably the next in the main series; Dragon Quest XI.
Apparently Square Enix is localising Dragon Quest games that are on Sony consoles, such as Dragon Quest Heroes for PS4, so if its on there it might come to the West. Dragon Quest Builders for PS4/Vita will also likely be localised. Unfortunately that still leaves those of us wanting the eight 3DS games (DQ 7, DQ 8, Monsters, Monsters 2, Joker 3, Rocket Slime 2, Theatrhythm and X) in the dark.
One small thing on the bright side is that DQ Monsters: Super Light is coming to the West on mobile devices, but it's practically an insult given we cant play the newest three actual releases in the series.
@Blast: They claim it was down to bad sales with the DS games. However, we're talking about the same company that localised Bravely Default, had it sell less than the DQ games, and still called it a success, so they're not quite making sense. They also considered Tomb Raider a failure after it sold 3.4 million copies.
It's because of this that they don't want to commit to translating the games (Pretty much the only main hurdle for localisation), despite the fact that quite a few of the games have very little text or already have English translations. They could also only release eShop versions to counteract the risk of a physical release, but, again, Square Enix is apparently a very stupid company. Either that or they just genuinely don't care at all about the West.
^in ragards to Tomb Raider it's budget was massive and were expecting massive sales, that's the problem with AAA games where selling alot just isn't enough.
@arronishere: That is true, but it once again highlights a level of stupidity in planning. Putting in a budget so high that they need over 15 million sales just to break even is a ridiculous expectation. Putting that much money into a AAA game is a choice, and was a mistake in this instance.
Tomb Raider cost $100mil, and a lot of that was probably engine development. Crystal Dynamics also pours heaps of money into character models and asset creation. It's a little... over-the-top. On top of that, it had a massive marketing campaign. The game is profitable though. Square Enix considers it a successful reboot of the brand.
Anyway, yes, SE has been announcing Dragon Quest stuff all month. Next up is either Dragon Quest Heroes 2 or Dragon Quest XI. Either way, it will probably be on PS4 and probably multiplat.

I have a feeling it'll be XI and it will be on the PS4 (and to make things even better for this still very salty DQ/3DS fan...they'll bring it Westward in 2017). The Wii U is dead (although it does well enough in Japan) so there are slim changes it'll hit the U. The 3DS is getting up there in age, meaning that it would (again) stay exclusive to Japan (like the other 10 bloody DQ games that they can't bother localizing....) Vita....I don't know. There is no western support (from Sony or Major 3rd Parties), but Cross-Buy with a PS4 game??? It would certainly sell a lot more in Japan with Vita support. So, looking at like that, the PS4 seems the most likely console for it to hit. The only really beneficial aspect to come out of a PS4 DQ XI is that it'll come westward (unlike all those bloody 3DS games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Ugh. SquareEnix why must you be so difficult???
Formally Square-enixFan, Neo-GeoFan. A lover of fine games and handheld systems!!!!!!!!!! The New 3DS XL is amazing, soon the NX will be upon us! Backloggery Check my Youtube channel out! http://www.youtube.com/user/Ha...
Neither Wii U or Vita is doing well in Japan. Just because they might be the 3rd/4th best selling devices, does not make them okay. The low amount of both machines means that even if a game became a relative success and sold to 10% of the user base, it wouldn't make money. Japanese devs can't really afford to make decisions based on the Japanese market anymore because it's far too small. They have to think globally.
Also, Tomb Raider made it's money back at the end of 2013. People misunderstand when publishers say games are a disappointment. When they spend 4 years and $100 million to develop a game, then obviously they're not going to be happy to just get that back. They may as well have put the $100 million in the bank and earned interest on it.
I think Tomb Raider's issue was less that and more the fact that Square Enix somehow assumed that 99% of Tomb Raider's sales would be in its first month. Which in the digital age makes no sense at all, unless your game is not very good.
Also they said Hitman Absolution was disappointing despite it being (or at least very clearly being on track) to being THE BEST SELLING GAME OF THAT ENTIRE FRANCHISE. They were dumb for that (at the very least for wording it that way), don't defend the company that made 3 FFXIII games.
That being said, Square Enix is probably in a better place than almost any other japanese gaming company right now. Now if only they decide to localize their own games.
Bandai Namco is doing great. It's the little studio that could. It floors me how much that studio actually gets done with only a fraction of the staff of other companies. And they almost never lose money on a project.
And while I wouldn't quite use the word "defend," I will say that 3 FFXIII games was justifiable. HD games are hella expensive. Recycling assets is a decent way to minimize cost... I mean, I can see why they did it, and I'm far enough removed from the whole thing that it doesn't offend me. Lightning Returns was total butts, but it was avoidable butts. Honestly, the development cycle of XV is more offensive to me. I think Nomura just came into work and played Tetris all day for 5 years.

@Geonjaha: I'm pretty sure Nintendo localized Bravely Default and Square was kicking themselves for it. Also when BD came out there was a user base of about 40 million but about 120million for DQ9.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.

I wish. He may as well have, considering how much of the actual work involved the digital equivalent of smashing your head against the wall until something breaks...
