Important Note! While it is possible to use SD standard or SDHC standard based cards, we cannot guarantee that products other than a licensed SD card will work.
Information: The Nintendo 3DS is compatible with SD cards up to 2GB in size, and SDHC cards of 4GB and larger.
MiniSD and MicroSD cards are compatible with the use of an SD Card Adapter.
There you have it. Nintendo doesn't recommend trying SD cards above 2GB in your systems. It looks like everyone who wishes to use larger cards should only consider SDHC cards.

That's a helluva lot. I think Toshiba is making a 64GB card. Would love to have that. Always liked these SD cards because the memory sticks are too expensive if you buy it from Sony (PSP Official), as I got a 4GB Memory Stick for $20 at walmart and $7 at Target on clearance- while the official PSP Sony cards are nearly $40.
I hear you. I'm wondering what the Vita will use. Probably a Sony mem stick. One really underrated bonus to Nintendo's products is they're not trying to screw you on the extras like Sony does with it's PSP.
I was looking for this information! The only thing i want to now is, how to get all your files from the old (2GB SD) to the new (4-32 SDHC) i suppose to use a card reader and cutt off all your files???
A 3DS is 100% fun! Now wait for the good games,
Kid Icarus: Uprising, 23 March (EU) Luigi`s Mansion 2, Q1 2012 Mario Tennis, May 2012 Paper Mario, Q2 2012 Animal crossing, Q3 2012 Super Smash Brawl 3DS (says, Masahiro Sakurais)
Just copy the files too your PC/Mac and then Copy them to the new SD card!
Wii U online games:
Injustice Gods Among Us, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razors Edge, Assassin's Creed III, Tekken Tag Team Tournament 2 Wii U Edition and Trine 2: Directors Cut

Windows 7 allows you to quite literally select just the drive letter, & click "copy", then "paste" the copy into a location. I make back-up copies of my Wii, & 3DS data, so when my cards finally go faulty, or even the consoles themselves, I have spare data back-ups.
& I'm glad I checked this thread. I was wondering about this, & gonna do online research here on the forums, & @ other sites. Now I know. Most of my higher-than-2gbs are SDHC variety.
