I'm deciding between Pilotwings, Ridge Racer, and Super Monkey Ball to get. I'm looking for a game with good
gameplay/controles, longevity, and enjoyment. As of right now, I'm leaning toward Ridge Racer. I need help on deciding! 0.o

I got Street Fighter 4 which is pretty much a safe bet launch title and I would recommend it as that. I usually put it in when people want to try out my 3DS, but the game thats pretty much in my system 98% of the time is Samurai Warriors Chronicles
...It has plenty of content, nice learning curve and some decent depth. The first missions you play are quiet shallow and thats what most of the negative reviews seem to be based on, however as you work further through the game the AI kicks in (Ive even had Allies completing missions without any of my interference) you aldo get to customise your character a whole lot more and it just develops into such a bigger game... ahem, anyway I would wholeheartdly reccomend to anyone willing to give it the time.

I own those 3 games + SSF4. I would say:

gameplay/controles: Pilotwings
longevity: Ridge Racer 4
enjoyment: Pilotwings

Super Monkey Ball is also good but I would say only get it if it's half-price.

The winner is Pilotwings.

This although passing up Ghost Recon is a big mistake. At least get it at some point if you like strategy games. Also if you want something that really shows off the 3D capabilities then Pilotwings is by far from what I have played the best demonstration.

I have SSFIV, Pilotwings, Ghost Recon, Pes 2011, Super Monkey Ball, and Dream Trigger. Retro on theGo i would reccommend Dream Trigger, i think Pilotwings is a close second, but Dream Trigger has that kind of new concept feel, something different altogether, and Samurai Warriors has been getting awful scores across the board. Oh, and Pilotwings lasts about three hours, whereas Dream Trigger could last up to sixty hours easily.

@Retro_on_theGo - I would recommend Samurai Warriors, not only is there plenty of content, good graphics and sound and easy pick up to play controls, and as an added bonus as of the 13th of May they are giving away free DLC every friday for the next 21 weeks!!! A lot of the bad reviews were obviously done before the reviewer got to the third chapter because a lot of the things the reviewers claim to be missing are within the game such as characer customisation and the AI kicks more into gear later in the game. Its even possible with good battle tactics for your AI controlled characters to complete the missions for you which on a handheld is a pretty good feat in itself... as far a Pilotwings is concerned Ive been playing it today and thought is was good but it didnt keep me motivated for long and it would probably be something I would use to show off the 3DS to people that doesnt own it, where as Samurai Warriors is in my system 90% of the time.

Anybody played Lego Pirates of the Caribbean for the 3DS? I'm getting a 3DS next week and no other games really make me want them. Though I loved Pilotwings 64 and the original Nintendogs, it doesn't seem like the 3DS versions are worth full price. For those two I might wait 'til a price drop if I get them at all.
I'm very interested in Lego PotC, and would really just like something I can enjoy until Ocarina of Time, so any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I got Dream Trigger yesterday and it's awesome. It's confusing for the first 10 minutes while you're figuring out how to play it and dying every few seconds, but it just grows on you once you start to figure it out, and it's actually not too hard at all once you've played it for a bit. I love the music and fast-paced action. The 3D is pretty cool when you have a moment to look at the backgrounds. I'm not too sure how far I am through it, but I played it for 4 hours and have only come across 2/5 boss stages, so it must definitely be longer than Pilotwings. It has a lot of achievements to complete, and it's the sort of game I can see myself replaying even after I complete it.

Ghost Recon Shadow Wars was excellent and it's not ugly at all. I showed plenty of people the 3D effect of the scenery and it is a nice touch. In some areas it's like a bottomless hole in a cave or off the side of a cliff.

Samurai Warriors is also a good game and some of the video cut scenes are great to show off over and over in 3d. It's no more repetitive then the dozens of first person shooters out there and has a lot of content. I'm not sure why carrying a gun makes a game a 9 versus a sword! Plus! you will be supporting a developer giving a free content update every week for half a year which should be standard practice to keep games fresh and off the used market instead of the pay to play online passes that many developers are going to.

@brawlmeele64guy The general reaction to Super Monkey Ball was higher than Rabbids, and it seems funner. I'd go with SMB.

I love Samurai Warriors honestly. Yes it is a button masher (some argue about this) but I really enjoy it. There is a lot to do and tons of re-playability as you work on friendship levels, get extra story and they just recently showed they are still updating the game via spotpass with extra levels and weapons. So far of the five games I own, SSFIV, Ghost Recon, Samurai Warriors, Pilotwings, and Steel Diver its the one I play the most. It also depends on how much you like hack n slashes.

I read the interview with the creator of Samurai Warriors and he said he wanted to make a game that a gamer with any gaming ability could play, so someone with little or no gaming ability could get through the game just mashing buttons or advanced gamers could learn combos and thus pull off some great cinematic moves and complete some of the more difficult in game missions. So yeah it can be played as a button masher but couldnt we say the same about Street Fighter and most other fighting games, sure you could spam a game to death and not get the full enjoyment out of it or you could take the time to play the game to its full potential.
I think a lot of people who mabey gave it bad reviews did just that and bashed their way through the earlier more straight forward levels and didnt take the time to enjoy it. And those who reccomend it like your goodself have taken your time to enjoy it... I bet you dont spam the same moves on Street Fighter like half of them do online as well
