Look at the cartridge sticker.
If you see :
1. JAP = Japan
2. USA = USA / North America
3. PAL = Europe
4. ASI = Asia
Australia version use same PAL version.
@Anti-Matter There's far more regions than that.
Portables such as 3DS don't have NTSC or PAL because they don't need a TV.

are the main ones, but each has several variations (for USA, there is also CAN region, probably more for Latin America. Likewise for Europe, there probably are country-specific codes like UKV, FRA, ESP, ITA...)

Let's not cause confusion by mentioning specific countries as that point is moot. The fact remains that European/Australian consoles will play "PAL region" cartridges across the board.
Likewise, Australian cartridges for first-party games are coded as AUS, as were first-party Switch games for the first year or so (now we just get the EUR cartridges instead).
