Now sure how it happened, but now my 3ds charger isn't working for me. I tried to plug it into different outlets, and still no success. I wiggled the cable which connects to the 3ds, and I'll occasionally get a flickering orange light indicating the charge. I looked inside the port.. and it seems like the internal port on the 3ds itself shifted in an upward position.
I tried to fix it with some tweasers, no luck as it returns into that position.
Is there anything I can do about this, or just simply purchase a new 3ds XL? This is the standard blue chrome model I had since the 3DS originally released.
Meanwhile I'm going to be leaving the power off so I can do a system transfer or get any last minute tweaking done on it before it's totally crashed down.
Didn't work unforunately. (and yes the cable to the serge protector is plugged into an outlet. It's the same outlet that runs a 30 gallon saltwater system so it's fully functional..)
the upward position is normal. my 3ds always had that
Then I better not mess with it anymore. I never had a problem until actually yesterday.. it was acting up a bit, and today it just completely stopped working for me. Don't know what happened considering I spent the whole week doing nothing but soft reseting in ORAS. Nobody else touched it.
So it's your 3DS that's the problem? If so, do you still have the Charging Cradle that (I think) came with the system? Perhaps you can use that for charging the system until you get a replacement.
My 3DS also has its internal port going upwards like that; it might be normal. My 3DS is also having trouble charging so I use the charging cradle which came in the box. If you're not having any luck you should buy a charging cradle or a new system.
I've also had this problem. I tend to jiggle about the wire a bit and it eventually works. I have 2 different chargers that I use and I find it to be less of a problem with one of them although that may be because of the location I use them.
Try another charger. You can get an official one for like $10 or a cheap-y one just to test for under $5.
The money spent testing for a broken charger beats the time waiting after sending your 3DS out for repairs.
Yep, it was the charger the whole time, tested out a new charger and all is good now! I did buy a N3ds anyway just because it was due time for me to upgrade anyway (only to make a second trip to gamestop realizing it didn't have a charger...)
So.... guess problem solved!
(One other minor thing though... if I do a system transfer, does all my pokebank data transfer over as well? Even if currently my pass is expired? Or do I have to renew my pass, put my pokemon into my cartirage, redownload it, then put them all back in? Says data will be erased when I do a system transfer but doesn't specifiy..)

I don't know how it would work with Pokebank, but when I transferred to my New XL, it transferred everything. It was like it was the same system internally. Across my 50+ downloaded games, Streetpass data, and DLC for various games, absolutely nothing was deleted.
I can't guarantee you'll be safe, but I'm 95% sure you are.

When I upgraded to my New 3DS, all of my PokéBank data transfered. PokéBank is linked to your Nintendo Network ID which is moved onto the target system of a system transfer. You might want to buy a new pass soon though; I remember reading somewhere that if you don't buy a new pass after it expires your Pokémon could eventually be erased.
