When did we suddenly become allowed to copyright single words, anyways? I thought you had to have at least three consecutive words or a specific title to place copyright claims. I mean, how does a court even ALLOW that kind of poopydoodoocaca? Please watch the profanity — TBD

I replied to this in another thread, but here's the simple explanation: The word is not copyrighted or trademarked, the use of the word is.
Example:
1. Candy in the context of a company name is copyrighted, but another company can use it to describe a product because it's a different context.
2. Apple as a company name is copyrighted, but another company can use a product with the word apple in the title still as that is not copyrighted.

Context does not change the meaning of a word. Context is how the word is used, not what it means.
Example:
1. "I ran a mile."
2. "They ran for freedom."
Two different contexts, exact same meaning, for the word "ran."

So I guess at least all the women named Candy won't be exiled from the USA. That's a good point.
But seriously, nobody likes a bully. And what those guys are doing is beyond words. Not only their games are rip-offs of other ideas, their bussiness model is highly questionable (free to download yet money-centered markets disguised as simple skill games that require players paying their way through if one particular level has a pretty much impossible difficulty, frequently aimed for children just because they usually don't see the bigger, long term picture), that's their "bussiness" and nobody is forcing the addicts to hand over money for a more dozen levels of "fun".

I've got to agree, companies shouldn't be able to trademark words that were used in other products previously and common words like "candy" or "saga" should be 200% out of bounds
