I saw Ponyo today in a small independent theatre where a guy came out and announced the movie. It was awesome. They actually sell beer and popcorn, One Screen and its film instead of digital. Loved it.

Very nice. I recommend Ponyo to everyone. I just finished Samurai Champloo and liked it a lot. Now if only Disc 2 played all the episodes like it should.

I'm not sure anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if CN pulled it from Adult Swim. They like to make their channel as horrible as possible lately. Because a Cartoon Netwrk should have crappy live-action instead.

Earlier, on the TV, by chance I came across an episode of a series I haven't seen in a very long time. Beyblade.
I used to love that series when I was about 9-10. I still like it now, so I'm going to rewatch it after such a long time. I remember I stopped watching because I didn't like V-Force but I'm willing to try and watch that one again, along G Revolution and the new Metal Fusion. Feels great to watch it again after so long. Dragonball and Dragonball Z are the only anime series I watch, and the FUNimation dub is awesome. I have not even watched a subbed Japanese version of DB or DBZ yet, but I might watch one on Youtube to see the difference. As for Naruto, I do not care for it. I never watched it, and it does not appeal to me. I also watched Dragonball GT, and I did not care for it as much.
After listening to one of the opening on my iTouch today, I have a burning desire to go through Ghost in the Shell: SAC again.

I saw the latest trailer for Evangelion 1.0 "You are (not alone" yesterday. Can't wait to see it! (For those not in the know, its the first movie of a tetrology (sp?) that redoes the series, each coverign roughly 6 episodes.) 2.0 just came out in Japan.

Finished watching Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (season 1) and Kei (season 2) while waitring for the OVA (Rei, season3 in a manner of speaking) DVD. After watching those 50 episodes in a little over 4 days, what did I think? Season 1 was really good, though the middle was fairly slow and unexciting compared to the first and last story arcs. Season 2 starts off painfully slow and picks up around episode 11, but ultamately loses steam around episode16 (as in, I didn't like the last story arc.) Still, overall, I recommend it to anime fans, but for those who are new to anime, pick something simpler...

Got my ebayed copy of "Ninja Scroll" yesterday from Hawaii. Watched it last night, my second time seeing it. It really does have some great animation for a 1993 anime. (I am slightly biased against pre-1975 movies and pre-1998 anime.)

I just got done watching Perfect Blue, and I can't recommend it highly enough. You've got Satoshi Kon (Tokyo Godfathers, Memories, Paprika), Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira) and Madhouse Studios (Ninja Scroll and over a dozen other awesome works) behind this and the ENglish dub has Bridget Hoffman, Wendee Lee, and Steve Blum. The tale it tells is unconventional and might require a second viewing to follow the path of insanity that the characters tredge on. It's well-paced and, while it has it share of violence and nudity, is very accessible to people who aren't that familar with anime. If you get a chance, see this film. It is a little hard to find now, (I've been trying to eBay it for a while, with only recent success) but its worth the effort.

Because I can't get enough of Higurashi, I just imported Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Rei (the OVA that takes place after the second reason, Kei) from Malaysia. Its pretty good so far, at least as of the 4th episode out of 5. I also eBayed Area 88 and Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu recently. Impressions on those later.

I liked Death Note (watched the anime in 2 days) and really got into NGE until the last 2 episodes (pretty typical reaction from what I've heard, though the Death and Rebirth offer a slightly better ending and I can't wait to see 1.0). I just finished wathing Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, which was hilarious to the end. Now I'm on the last set of episodes for Area 88. I'll post with my thoughts when I watch them. Also, someone in the chat recommended Witchblade to me. Any seconds/thoughts?

Bleach did start out awesome and its got some great character design and dub, but it falls into a lot of the holes that Naruto and DBZ fall into. No, its not the pace (thank god), its that after hundreds of episodes, there's a minimal amount of character development. None of the main characters ever die (really, a necessity), its just a new round with a new bad guy who is totally going to lose...eventually.

Huh, I'm not familar with that one, I'll have to look into it. Its a shame that legitimate copes of Ghibli are so rare/expensive in the US, or I'd have more. (Working on it.) I can't wait until Earthsea is finally released in the US, we've been waiting for ages for that one because of the stupid Cy-Fy channel.
