Im really looking forward to this. Specially now.
The news of yesterday hit me really hard (if you know, you know, this ain't the place to elaborate), and I couls really use some levity, positivity, and having something to look forward to right now.

I enjoyed the first one and wa impressed by the demo. Was considering picking the his up later but the fact that its a true physical release (none of that key-card crap) made me wanna get it a launch.

All I can say is that I hope Totanic Scion doesn't get ignored like the first Daemon X Machina did

The first game was super underrated! really fun, but damn near nobody gave it any attention. I'm really excited to try this out!

@Mgalens that is annoying but I guess it could be worse? (I can sorta understand if it's an age-rating issue, like how Sakurai had to close Palutena's skirt due to Cero's restrictions in Smash bros).

my concern is that they're gonna try to done down some of the more raunchy humor like the "Bazongas" skits. or other stuff that isn't a matter of age rating, but ideology.

the "Some expressions have been tweaked." has me worried.

The Bandai Namco site says "Some expressions were changed from the original work in consideration of ethics", which to me sounds like they censored some dialog.

Xillia is my favorite Tales of game. I still have my PS3 Copy and I'd buy the remaster in a heartbeat, but censorship is a deal breaker for me.

@Vyacheslav333 doesnt really make a whole lot of sense. Not when its been only 2 arcs.

@IronMan30 it means the "physical" version is actually a digital version. The cartridge has no game data, all it has is a "key" that allows you to download the digital game and play it when the "key" is inserted. Basically, its a digital game pretending to be a physical one.

So, who else is getting the Switch 1 version to play on switch 2 cuz screw game-key cards?

2) is there an upgrade path for Kiwami 1?

@axelhander they dulled the colors, toned down the most over the top design elements of every character, dumbed down the combat, etc.

EVERYTHING about strive feels more sanitized compared to previous entries (put it next to Xrd and its night and day). And thats not even taking the Bridget drama into account. Everything about the esthetics of Strive is toned down to look more generic.

After the piece of sh*t that is Strive, there's no love lost from me.

Strive to me is the textbook example of "Japanese franchise that strips itself of its identity in order to appeal to westerners".

Managed to finally get the 1TB card last week.

Nice interview! I hope it's good. I really loved the first game and found the second game to be overall a step down (Ryuki and Mizuki are just not as interesting as Date as protagonists. I kinda liked Ryuki's dynamic with Tama as it felt like a reverse Date/Aiba, but Mizuki just wasn't that interesting as an MC. also the Twist in the latter half wasn't nearly as good as the first game's).

Are we gonna get an upgrade path? Vuz I own all these games and I just haven't started them yet. It'd be nice to get the best version of them.

I mean... anyone who wants to make things that will sell need to be aware of what they're making. Sure, games are art. but they're also projects that require a lot of manpower and hours, and if people won't buy it, fat chance you're making another, no matter how "artistic" you think you art.

So yeah, he's not wrong. Games are both really.

@Samalik not necessarily a false equivalent, as other people pointed out, speedtree has been a standard tool in the gaming industry for years, and what it does is procedurely generated foliage. The Ai use in this instance is no different from that.

Also the concept that Ai is entirely based on theft is a bit misguided: yes, Ai generates its content based on the references you input into, but I remember seeing something a while ago about a studio talking about creating a "closed" Ai model, where the database of samples would be created and owned by that them. In an instance like that, the theft argument goes away. Heck, I can see roguelike games (in which the whole purpose is having procedurely generated layouts)benefiting from this tech in the future if implemented with that kind of philosophy. And itd be perfectly ethical if it was done with a proprietary model that generates out of assets created by the team.

My take is, AI is gonna be implemented at some point. Its a tool and it depends on how its used. If its use is for limited things like "background" foliage, i dont see a problem with it. Everything else was hand-made by actual programmers.

Its like with Downloadable content. Some people will implement it ethically (with actual expansions and additional content), other will do it in a scummy way. (Like microtransactions, and lootboxes).

Its more productive to separate the ones that use it ethically from the ones thay don't, then swear off completely a technological advancement thats gonna be implemented regardless of how much you kick and scream about it.

@NotASockPuppet im pretty sure they do own them. That was part of the reason for them switching from Archie to idw (making sure every comic character was their property as to never have another ken penders situation)

@HammerGalladeBro thats kinda what I understood as well, base game with Sonic, free updates for Sega, dlc for licensed.

I didn't mind the concept of game key-cards until every other publisher started pushing them.
Its one thing for games like Street Fighter, that will keep getting updates over the year,but theres no reason why a game like Shadow Generations or bravely default

@KBuckley27 no, it's because of the game key-card. Cyberpunk is selling very well, and it's the only one of the third party games to be fully on the cartridge.

and you wait until NOW to tell me that?! (I got Guardians of Azuma day one with my Switch 2. it's my only Switch 2 physical game so far).

Furukawa went out of his way to state that Nintendo doesnt censor third parties and lets not forget Nintendo brought Bayonetta back.

Now Nintendo of AMERICA, that's a different story. Hopefully they wouldn't be allowed to as they've arbitrarily started blocking and censoring some japanese games. If this were to be confirmed, I'd hope NoJ would tighten the l3ash around NoA and make sure they wouldn't try anything funny.

@Sambuc I do. I'm a big game collector (I got over 300 games on the Switch 1), the majority being physical (and I've been working to get physical versions of my digital games).

After getting a 1TB microSD, I've enjoyed being able to just pick a game and play it. but now that card is useless on the Switch 2, and even if I get a microSD Express that's 1TB, Game Key-cards are gonna fill that up FAST.

I don't care how good this game is I HOPE it flops hard.

not because I don't like this series, but because people NEED to make a statement that not putting a flippin' 3DS game on a cartridge is completely unacceptable and inexcusable.
