Good, should have been sooner. As much as the Wii is a great console, it simply cannot share the same market as the Wii U and for the Wii U to succeed. For almost every month the Wii has been outselling the Wii U, and that's simply horrible for Nintendo. With the Wii finally gone, the Wii U will have more room to prosper.
I expect nothing new to be announced, just updates and gameplay of games already announced for this year. Most likely a few new X/Y Pokemon, some Mega Evolutions, and if we're really lucky, a new SSB character.
I would rather have multiplayer than $10 extra to be honest, but I guess this is a decent compromise for some people. If I ever get the game it'll be for PS3 though...
From the demo which I played on the 3DS, it was just really arkward to play compared to the console versions, and to be honest I think Legends would suffer even more on the 3DS than Origins did because there is more happening on the screen at once. There are already plenty of places to play Legends without the 3DS.
Still, a brand new Rayman game specifically made and optimised for the 3DS would be something I would be extremely interested in.
@Squashy I'm all up for Paper Mario, he can have a very unique moveset completely different from Mario's. But three different versions of Link? To be honest two is already pushing it a bit. I would rather have a unique character from a different series than another Link, even a Majora's Mask one.
Well that kills my hope for a Majora's Mask themed Young Link with a mask-based moveset... Toon Link was one of my favourite characters to play as in Brawl, but I can't help feeling a bit disappointed. No Fierce Deity Final Smash...
Hiroshi Yamauchi was one of the great minds who molded the whole of the video game industry to what it is today, and through that a huge part of millions of people's lifes, including mine. RIP
Started a new file on Xenoblade a week ago, up to the Ether Mine. I'll be playing that, along with finishing InFamous. Maybe I'll finally get around to do the last chapter of FE Awakening which I have sinfully had to one side for weeks now...
@HugoSmits If he left in 1978, then he hasn't been a major part of video games in over 35 years. He is completely out of touch with gaming and why anyone is listening to him I have no idea.
Before I was limited to transferring six Pokemon at a time by playing frankly a boring minigame. And in gen 4 I could only transfer six a day. Now I can just transfer what I want, when I want. For an extra £5, I don't see the problem.
I'll try to watch it, but my laptop died a couple of days ago and I don't know if my tablet will be able to play it live. I'm hoping to find out the evolutions of the starters and their types.
I would pre-order, but I'm saving up money for the Zelda Wii U. Still, this was a great idea and I hope smaller publishers do stuff like this in the future. To be honest, I didn't think they were going to make it. But I'm very happy by the result
I have friends coming around tomorrow for the weekend and my friend's bringing his Wii U, so there's going to be a lot of Nintendo Land (mostly Mario Chase), Mario Party 9, Mario Kart Wii and Brawl. Most likely a few other games, but those 4 are going to take up probably 90% of the time.
Maybe some BioShock Infinite or Fire Emblem while I wait for them to get here.
[EDIT] Oh yes, and 007 Nightfire. That game has amazing multiplayer.
Sony's handhelds have essentially been portable home consoles. Nintendo's offer a completely different experience to what you would get on a home console. Both have advantages, both have disadvantages. And both have different target audiences.
Made my votes, put in some for a few Nintendo games, but my GOTY has to be BioShock Infinite. Started playing it two days ago, and a freaking love everything about it.
Fire Emblem for handheld game though, obviously hands down.
OK then... This is the most pointless thing since the Wii Mini, and will fail just as hard. This is just using up a manufacturing line, and you can just turn the 3D off on the regular 3DS. Why sell a stripped down 3DS for less when people are happy buying the regular which is already cheap enough? Why make something which is going to cause even more product confusion then what Nintendo already has? This is a terrible thing for Nintendo to do...
@Arcamenel And how well did your friends do? How long could they actually practise the metagame?
You cannot compare hacking Pokemon and athletes taking steroids. Steroids push the athlete past the best possible physical condition that their bodies can naturally handle. Hacking Pokemon to an acceptable level is within the possible realms of the game.
Plus, even with max stats, you cannot possibly win without a thorough knowledge of the metagame. Without a good strategy, a player with max IVs can easily loose. If you are an athlete using steroids, the majority of the time you will win because you are simply unfairly faster, or stronger, or have a higher reaction time than the competition.
"1558 cheaters took part in Pokémon's 2013 Global Showdown" is inaccurate. The title should really say "1558 cheaters were not careful enough to not get caught in Pokémon's 2013 Global Showdown". Those 1558 people simply did not create their Pokemon so that they could be undetectable as being hacked. The actual number of people who hacked their Pokemon would be much higher, perhaps even more than a third of the competition. And I honestly bet the top players did hack.
In my honest opinion, if the Pokemon are genuinely able to have those stats and moves, even if it would take the player 1000 times or even more to get the result they wanted, I see no reason why they shouldn't. Why spend hundreds of hours getting the Pokemon you wanted when you could spend that time practising the metagame?
If you have a Spiritomb with illegal moves and Wonder Guard, yes that is wrong and you are an idiot if you think you can get a way with it. But if you have hacked a Pokemon which has a perfectly legal moveset, ability and stats, but have practised and experimented with it so you can have what you think is the best possible team within the realms of the actual game, I have no problem.
If there isn't a discount like they have for some of the retail downloads, I'm just going to stick to the eShop because its more convenient for me. This is still a good move though, since it will inevitably will raise sales and awareness to people.
But if I ever pass by a GAME, I might buy Splash or Crash with some loose change
I'm going to be finally beating the last chapter of Fire Emblem Awakening for the first time after I do the side missions I haven't done yet, and maybe some Boom/Fortune Street which I got in the post today.
But no one except core gamers who knew the concept of Smash would of watched EVO, or most of the time even heard of it. Those 125000 people knew exactly what they were watching. If Nintendo is that worried about the series's image, they have a serious problem advertising Smash 4.
Gen 6 is getting crazier by the day... Mega Kangaskhan will be Uber for sure, along with most of the mega evolutions. They even might need to make Uber+ for Mega Mewtwo.
