Re: Review: Pokémon Link: Battle! (3DS eShop)

Good stuff, I'm not usually the biggest fan of puzzle games but this looks pretty cool. I remember seeing the adverts for the original when I was younger and being interested, but never got it. I'll probably wait for some sort of sale to come up (still have a bunch of games to play which I haven't even touched), but this is definitley on my watch list.

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th March (Europe)

I might get SpeedX 3D, I remember the original being ok as far as mobile games go. Tappingo also looks pretty cool.

Just to make 100% sure, can the download version of New Super Luigi U be played without New Super Mario Bros U? I don't really want to pay the £30 it costs for the original game, but I'd happily pay £13.50 for some quality 2D Mario goodness at a higher difficulty level.

I caught the end just as I woke up, only got to see Rhydon and Blastoise go down (Blue's last two Pokemon), but it was magical. The full successful Elite Four and Champion run should be up on YouTube, so I'll watch it soon. ALL HAIL HELIX!

Re: Nintendo Switching Off Wi-Fi Connection Service On Wii And DS

This is sad... I mean REALLY sad... I know servers have to go down eventually, but its usually one or two games at a time, not entire platforms all at once. Online play wasn't a big part of Nintendo last generation, but I still play Mario Kart Wii once in a while these days, and that game is still insanely popular online. Guess I'll have to fulfill my dream of having over 9000 VR rank before then...

Re: Diddy Kong Confirmed as the Latest New Challenger for Super Smash Bros.

Diddy being back is cool and all, but my question is what Samus is doing in the eighth screenshot. Looks like a new move to me.

@BAGBOY If in the very unlikely event Yoshi doesn't come back, I will dress up as a Yoshi and stick my tounge out at people all day. They're saving him for the Yarn Yoshi annoucement, trust me. They're not going to get rid of one of the original Smash 64 characters who is still extremely relevent.

Re: Watch_Dogs Delayed Again on Wii U, Will Arrive on the System After Other Platforms

Seriously, do third parties WANT the Wii U to fail? The target audience for the Wii U version was already small enough, and now when/if they do release the Wii U version, that audience will be almost non-existant. And then Ubisoft will complain that the Wii U version did not sell well, so they will not give the console more support in the future, when its their fault as it is Nintendo's. Third parties are just as much to blame for the Wii U's poor software sales as Nintendo is.

RIP Wii U third party support, 2012-2014

I swear Ubisoft pissed off Nintendo fans this time last year as well... AHEMMraymanlegendsAHEMM

Re: Sakurai Re-iterates That There'll Be No Subspace Emissary-Style Story in Super Smash Bros.

SubBronze

I'm OK with Smash 4 not having a story mode (SSE was OK, but I could live without it), but the reason that Sakurai gives makes no sense at all to me. Every cutscene in every game gets uploaded to the Interent, and if everyone followed his thought process, what would be the point of even having cutscenes in any game? I simply don't understand him on this.

But as long as we get Classic, Event and All Star modes, and a Melee-style Adventure mode, it should be fine.

In terms of the stage, I'm actaully thinking the All-Star mode hub area. The background looks similar to Brawls, and those platforms would make good places to have the Heart Containers.

Its kinda amazing how something that is extremely easy to do wasn't discovered until just under 14 years since the game came out, and how new stuff is being discovered in games years, sometimes decades, after they first released. The AGDQ stream really made be interested in speed-running, so this actually pretty exciting more me.

Re: Talking Point: Claims of Wii U Third-Party Development Troubles Shouldn't Be Dismissed Lightly

SubBronze

@Kroisos Because Nintendo takes a share of the profits for every game sold for their hardware from third parties. If you take away that support, that is a lot of money down the drain. And without third party games, many people simply won't buy the console, which reduces the overall software sales for the console more. Just like how third parties rely on the console manufacturers to offer a platform to develop for, console developers rely on third parties to sell the hardware.

Re: Talking Point: Claims of Wii U Third-Party Development Troubles Shouldn't Be Dismissed Lightly

Nintendo completely screwed up when designing the Wii U. By making the architecture so different to the Xbox One and PS4 (and even the 360 and PS3) and making it so comparatively weaker to the other eighth gen systems, they have alienated thrid parties in terms of multiplatform games, which frequently are the most profitable games for them. Third parties simply do not want to develop multiplats for the Wii U, and when they do the games are poorly optimized and sell the worst of all platforms by a long shot in most instances.

Nintendo are not doomed, and the Wii U is still completely worth buying for many people for Nintendo exclusive titles alone. But to be honest, with every bad article that comes out, I see the the chances of the Wii U being Nintendo's last home console go up more and more.

The 3DS though, is doing absolutely amazingly and Nintendo are doing a fine job with it.

Re: Nintendo Left Online Out Of Super Mario 3D World To Deliver The "NES" Experience

SubBronze

It is completey fine to have local multiplayer in games, in fact I think games that have online multiplayer but not local multiplayer are just stupid.

But, we are now in 2014, decades after online multiplayer was introduced. There is absolutley no excuse not to have online in your games now. How would having online ruin the living room experience? People who just want to play locally can just ignore the online aspects, and it would only please people who play online. I would of gotten a Wii U much earlier if I could play Mario with friends who live hours away, instead of having to wait sometimes months to see them in person.

Nintendo needs to get into the 21st centuary, this is unaccpetable.
