I'm not bothered about new flashy graphics, I have my PC for that with better specs than both PS4/Xbone. I love Nintendo games , they give us something different to other consoles, PC etc. The Wii U is an excellent piece of hardware, the gamepad is a positive invention and if the games start to come out, it will sell. I just hope it's not too late.
This isn't good. The difference between the Wii U and the 3DS is that 3DS wasn't fighting against 2 new consoles. This could be the final nail in the coffin. I really hope I'm wrong.
If this game came out this year Nintendo would shift millions more consoles. I can't wait for it's release, MK has been my favourite game series ever and it looks like it will be for many years to come. Let's hope Mario 3D, Wonderful 101 etc are enough to shift consoles so Nintendo can make enough money to keep producing great games.
I don't care for Fifa, Madden etc but in Europe & North America these games sell as many consoles as COD. Even if you don't like EA games such as Crysis 3, Sims and the rest you need to understand that if Wii U is to survive in this competitive market, it needs EA, Activision and other big publishers. The only other way for Wii U to grab some new users is to bring out some new IP's. Losing EA is a financial bomb, let's hope they change their mind or this could be a very bad year for our new console. Xbox One and PS4 will have the biggest selling games franchises at launch including COD Ghosts, Battlefield 4 and Fifa/Madden, these games sell consoles and lots of them at that. I hope Reggie and the boys bring some big, big guns with them tomorrow to help sell the U.
I really hope to god this is fake because if it's not, the Wii U will not be around after Christmas 2013. I'm 99.9% sure this is fake but there is a chance that this is why Ninty are not hitting the big stage this year. A presentation with 4 games would be a bit embarrassing. There's a rumour circulating that Sony and M$ are going to announcing over 10 1st party exclusives for launch day, including a number of new IP's @ E3, so I hope Nintendo have more up there sleeves.
Oooh can't wait for the Xbox Two game, Call Of Duty Zombies, Luigi's Mansion map! Why can't developers leave Nintendo alone. If Xbox or Playstation owners wanted to play good games, they would buy a Nintendo console.
Why oh why have Nintendo not been pushing the Wii U? Unless you followed it on Nintendo's website, Youtube or in the mags, there was virtually no coverage at all. Since launch Nintendo haven't been bothered to do anything about it either. I know there has been the Nintendo Direct but they haven't exactly been explosive have they? Now E3 is next week and Nintendo won't be taking the big stage by storm. So unless you follow Nintendo, you will probably miss their Direct broadcast. Whereas Sony and MS will have coverage on the E3 site, the news, all over Youtube and in many multiformat magazines. Either Nintendo has something big up their sleeves or they don't seem to have much confidence in their new console.
I know PES hasn't been any good for a long long time and I know most people don't play football games on Nintendo machines but this is yet another game that won't be coming to Wii U. At this rate by the end of the year Nintendo will be the only developers of games for our console. It's getting a bit worrying to be honest. I bought the Wii U to play Ninty games but I also thought that given the power under the hood, I'd be able to play some great 3rd party titles as well. So far all of the ports have been average and the planned 3rd party games are also coming out on other consoles as well. Couple that with the Wii U Games being dearer than 360 and PS3 and, putting your love for the big N to one side for a moment, you must admit the future isn't looking great. I would buy a 360 or PS3 as well but I don't have enough time to play on my Wii U never mind another console as well.
This guy has obviously never tried to play anything but a puzzle game on a touchscreen. Games on phones/tablets are horroble. Why would anybody play a game on a mobile over a TV screen? Our 14 year old daugher is always on her tablet watching TV or on Facebook etc and she has just been told that she needs glasses. Coincidence?
This is a big issue for me and could be a game changer when the other consoles are released. I don't get enough time to play on one console never mind two so I buy one console per generation. This time it is the Wii U. I made my mind up from the first rumours about all of the next gen machines. When I buy a game that I really like, I play it to death. I then buy the DLC to get more out of the game I've enjoyed playing so much. Most new games are now priced at £39.99 - £49.99. When I spend that much money on a game that lasts about 20-50 hours, which isn't a long time, I feel a bit cheated. It's a lot of money to spend on something that you can complete in a week. DLC helps soften the blow. I know you pay more money to expand your missions, weapons etc but if you love that game, you want to keep it going. Batman Arkham City had some of the DLC on the disc, but it had already been out for a decent amount of time on the other consoles, so charging would have been a bit cheeky. If the Wii U misses out on DLC for major titles, then the games won't sell as many copies. I won't buy Ghosts if there is not DLC Maps to follow. I'm Bored of Black Ops 2 already because of the small amount of maps. DLC is essential nowadays and if the Wii U misses out, it says to me that developers and publishers aren't taking the console seriously and are treating it as a stop gap to the Xbox One and PS4. I love my Wii U but the games aren't coming and it looks as though we will be missing DLC. I hope this gets sorted once and for all.
@Wober2. I agree there have been some great games but not enough and with the lack of entertainment features beyond games, my Wii U is not getting used.
@MadAdam81 those days were the golden age of gaming but now it's become a more mainstream type of entertainment and it's all about getting the most money for the least amount of work. I recently read that a director of a small games company said that if they had to develope games for the PS3 and Wii as well as the Xbox 360 they would have to charge £60 per game to cover man hours and the hiring of extra staff. Xbox One and PS4 are very similar in basic spec so it's going to be even easier for developers to port their games. Will the Wii U miss out?
Don't forget that the consoles he is comparing the WII U's GPU architecture to are over 7 years old!! I've replaced my PC Graphics card 9 times in the last 7 years. The Wii U Graphics card tech is about 3 to 4 years old. I know that doesn't count for much but if you base your console on older tech, it will struggle in the next 3 to 4 years. Graphics are cool but gameplay is where it's at and at the moment, the Wii U doesn't have the games. How long do we have to wait for exclusives?
I've had a Wii U for 6 months now and it's a great bit of tech but today I've been toying with trading it in for a PS3. The reason? It's nearly 8 months since launch and having beaten Mario U & Zombi U, what else is there for me to play? I've already hammered ME3, Need for Speed, FIFA13 (erm...12) and Batman. So my options are Nintendoland and a load of NES games on eshop. Some indie games are ok, such as Runner 2 but that's also on other consoles. I also walked in to Game on our High St and they said I'd get £13 for Mario U! £13?? What the hell. Their reason.....we have sold 10 Wii U games in the last 2 weeks. HMV Don't do trade ins anymore and Tesco have 2, yes 2 Wii U games on their shelves. Add this to the lack of TVii, the bugs, small storage and drops in frame rate and despite the article above, I'm very disallusioned. I love Mario Kart and Zelda but I'm expecting HD remakes. Playing games off TV is cool but Zombi U, Lego City, don't have this option. At this moment, I can't think of a reason to keep my Wii U and I think I'm going to trade it before the trade in value falls too much. I've always been a Nintendo fan and I've had every console since the NES but I'm not happy with this latest console right now.
Wii U has Mario, Zelda etc but those games don't appeal to a lot of younger kids and teens. Our kids don't play them. Our 14 year old daughter plays Little Big Planet and our 13 year old son and all of his mates play COD, Battlefield, Halo, Killzone, FIFA etc. I really hope Wii U does well and it will for the next couple of years but after that I'm not sure.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Wii U and all Nintendo games & consoles but without the "Big" franchises like Battlefied 4, COD etc (I didn't say they were good, just big sellers), it won't pull the punters like PS4 and Xbox One. I know the Wii sold like hot cakes but the Wii U doesn't have the "Give your gran" ago appeal that the Wii did with the Wii-Mote.
Haywired, it's just a bit of fun. We all know that Wii U will be a very close third in the next couple of years. Personally I think the PS4 and Xbox One will not take off until Xmas 2014 or even 2015. People have huge collections of 360 or PS3 games and without backwards compatibility, they won't be happy to lose them all. Come launch day the PS3 and 360 games and consoles will be worth nothing on eBay, so this will hold people back. Plus there are a lot of games still planned for 2014 for both current gen consoles.
Developers and publishers will not fully support the next gen until they have a wide user base. It's not just the Wii U that will be affected.
I love how M$ said the Xbox One will be the only box under your TV and then removed backwards compatibility, so you need an Xbox 360 to play your old games.
Wii U should have a good Xmas this year but will struggle in 2014 unless Ninty are going to release games all year long.
The Wii U price cut is good for business and if people are holding off buying a Next Gen until a price drop, why wouldn't this happen to Xbox One and PS4?
I've got a 360 and have a lot of friends with one. We had a chat and none of us is going to buy one at launch of even within the first 18 months.
From another source.... The Nintendo Wii U failed to attract an audience when it was released late last year. It seems as if UK gamers were waiting for all three consoles to be revealed before making their purchase.
"A report from Player Essence says that sales of the Wii U console jumped a whopping 875% immediately following the Xbox One reveal. Before the reveal, the Wii U console was placed at #390 on the sales chart. This week however, the console placed as high as #40.
This is good news for Nintendo if this type of trend happens around the world and at other retail stores too. This isn’t good news for Microsoft considering the cold reception the Xbox One has been receiving…"
Xbox One and PS4 will probably cost at least £299 each at launch, the Premium Wii U will be £199 - £249 with a great catalogue of games, free online, pre-owned games and looks good under a TV. TVii in Europe will be up and running by Christmas, it's looking like a great time for Ninty to get a lead on the others. I will get a PS4 or Xbox One in the long run, but after falling foul of the last gens faulty release units (gone through 3 x 360's and 2 x PS3's), I won't be buying until at least a year in. That's unless something comes out and grabs me by the short and curlies.
EA ANNOUNCE FIFA 2014, BATTLEFIELD 4 AND MORE FOR WII U!
Wii U may even win this generation. It looks as though people don't want Kinect or another Xbox with better graphics! Having the best games may have just swung it for Nintendo. Let's hope that Ninty don't blow it now and have a lot to show on Direct from E3!
I cannot wait for Mario Kart U. If there's a Mario 3D and SSB in the same Direct I'll explode!! Looking good for this year. Got NSMBU and Runner 2 to keep me happy at the mo, but nothing much after finishing those, so role on a busy release schedule. Would be nice to get a big release during the summer and not all together in the busy Christmas period.
@Sean_Aaron Some good points there. I love my gamepad, I can watch Netflix without the Mrs missing Corrie and download a game in the background. The off TV play for me is the biggest development this gen. Mario U off TV is a lifesaver, no more moaning about me hogging the TV. The other big development and this is a biggie is for the first time we don't have to pause games to make selections, scan an area or even check a map. Wii U is a big jump in how we play games, well done Nintendo, now go sell some consoles!
For me, the Xbox One will sell. The reason? People have huge friends lists on Xbox Live, and up until M$ made it a huge advertising space, it was THE social hub for gamers. There's a massive amount of brand loyalty in gaming and it will continue. PS4 looks good, lots of good games and some great specs but will better graphics alone help it sell? I'm not sure. According to console sales charts, 2009 saw the highest console sales since 2004. This was 3 to 4 years into the the last gen's lifespan. So in theory, it will be 2015/2016 before we see console sales grow. The problem with the Wii U is that the gamepad doesn't have the same "give gran a go" appeal as the Wii-mote did. I know you can still use Wii-motes but people still own Wii's. In reality the Xbox One will sell more than Wii U and PS4, if the prices of all 3 consoles are close. That doesn't mean that it's the best consoles, Xbox owners are happy to pay silly prices for DLC and Live, so a new console without a strong pre-owned market won't put them off. The thing that worries me is M$ may have shrunk the games market. Without trade in, I can budget for about 12 full price games a year, without the Mrs cutting up my cards!! We may see a collapse in smaller publishers and a smaller number of titles coming out this year. I think 1st party games will play a bigger role this gen, and who does them best? Ninty of course!
My point all along has been that 3rd Party developers are ditching the Wii U and let's think this through. The Wii U will not survive without them. The sales are bad and we don't even know what Microsoft has planned for their next console. What happens to Wii U if MS launch with a gamepad similar to Nintendo's? I bought a Wii U for Mario, Zelda and all the other exclusives but I like a lot of games on other consoles. So will Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers etc be enough to keep the console alive if MS run with the same tech? I don't like having to pay for Xbox Live and all the day one DLC but at least it will have the 3rd party games and I'm not just talking about EA.
Here's your answer... "We right now don't have support for the Wii U in the Frostbite engine. The reason for that is it takes development time. What should we focus on to create the best possible Battlefield experience? We are now focused on PC and the current-gen platforms, and then there might be other platforms in the future that we can't talk about," DICE executive producer Patrick Bach told Eurogamer at GDC.
"[Frostbite 3] has never been running on WiiU. We did some tests with not too promising results with [Frostbite 2] and chose not to go down that path," tweeted DICE technical director Johan Andersson in response to a fan's tweet.
To say I'm not happy with Nintendo is an understatement. They have botched another launch and now 3rd party support is slipping. So far all the 3rd party games we have seen on the barren shelves are ports. I am finally coming to realise that Wii U is not as powerful as we hoped it would be! I know that power doesn't matter with Nintendo products and it's all about the games, I love Mario, Zelda, SSB etc but I don't want to buy a PS4 or Next Box just to play the next Star Wars or Battlefield game. I love my Wii U, I think the Gamepad is revolutionary, but publishers aren't making the most of it, and example being the map and inventory for Resident Evil Revelations. At this rate I can see the Wii U dying before the end of the year. I really hope it doesn't but when you walk into HMV, Tesco or Game and see a few games on the bottom shelf, it doesn't look good.

But without 3rd party support, Wii U won't sell as well.
Re: Ubisoft Scaling Back Support For Wii U, Expects Price Cut To Bolster Sales
I hope you're right Brandon but PS3 has a list of over 30 3rd party backers. Wii U has about 4 at the moment, if you don't count indie labels.
Re: Ubisoft Scaling Back Support For Wii U, Expects Price Cut To Bolster Sales
I'm not bothered about new flashy graphics, I have my PC for that with better specs than both PS4/Xbone. I love Nintendo games , they give us something different to other consoles, PC etc. The Wii U is an excellent piece of hardware, the gamepad is a positive invention and if the games start to come out, it will sell. I just hope it's not too late.
Re: Ubisoft Scaling Back Support For Wii U, Expects Price Cut To Bolster Sales
How are Nintendo going to sell consoles if all the 3rd party support drops out? Sales are bad at the moment and that's without the PS4 or Xbox One.
Re: Ubisoft Scaling Back Support For Wii U, Expects Price Cut To Bolster Sales
This isn't good. The difference between the Wii U and the 3DS is that 3DS wasn't fighting against 2 new consoles. This could be the final nail in the coffin. I really hope I'm wrong.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's Next-Gen Challenge Starts to Take Shape
Re: EA Developing Frostbite Engine For Mobile, But Not Wii U
Interesting video. 48 games coming out on 360, PS3 and or PC that are not coming out on Wii u. 48!!!

Re: EA Developing Frostbite Engine For Mobile, But Not Wii U
Re: EA Developing Frostbite Engine For Mobile, But Not Wii U
Battlefield and Star Wars? 12? Do you play Mario? Zelda?
Re: EA Developing Frostbite Engine For Mobile, But Not Wii U
Re: EA Developing Frostbite Engine For Mobile, But Not Wii U
