Re: Forget The Lawsuit, Pocketpair Says Palworld On Switch 2 Is "100% Worth Considering"

@Real_Obsi I'm not going to give you a detailed response, because it's pretty clear that unlike @Bolt_Strike, you clearly aren't interested in having a level-headed discussion about this. (I could tell that just by reading your last like 5 comments.) I highly doubt you read very much of what I had to say, but I ask that you do. Please try to learn and expand your clearly narrow worldview. Trust me, it's more interesting that way. I'm not responding to any replies you post.

@Bolt_Strike https://x.com/MetalDragonKid/status/1748952701071655171
He was talking about Buzzfeed using AI, not he himself using it. And it makes sense why that would be on his mind, considering his company was working on a very Pokemon-like game. And if you scroll through the replies of the tweet there's a lot of people making good points about how Palworld certainly didn't use AI. One of the most compelling reasons is them not disclosing on the Steam page for the game, which I believe is required for games that use AI. And yeah you could say they're lying, but I would be shocked if Valve didn't do their research when this controversy started. And yet the game remains up, showing Valve didn't have any solid evidence either. I'm gonna quote your comment really quick for clarity, but I don't KNOW how to use the quote feature.

"It was a few months after Palworld's announcement, but close enough to be believable that he used the same process for the official designs. His comments on supporting AI, this tweet showing he's done AI-generated Pokemon, and the official designs including elements of Pokemon should be enough evidence for a copyright infringement claim."

Then why haven't they? Nintendo and Pokemon have one of the most skilled legal teams out there. So, if they had even the slightest case to make they would have. I'll tell you why they haven't, because there's no proof. So unless we're using a guilty based off of no evidence until proven innocent justice system, there is no question here.

@Bolt_Strike That's funny because I've clicked through probably a dozen sources and none of them have any evidence to support the claim ai was used. Yes, the CEO is a fan of generative AI, but that is not real evidence for its use. In addition, the game was in development and character designs were shown off before generative AI was much of a thing, and definitely before AI would have been good enough to generate the creatures in the game. And also, if there was real evidence for this, Nintendo would definitely sue for that instead of patent infringement (since patent lawsuits can take forever to play out.) From what I've seen, the only people who say the creature designs were created with AI are Pokemon fanboys trying to find a reason to hate the game. Also, here's an actual source of this claim being denied by people at Pocketpair in case you are curious.

Re: Rumour: Switch 2 3D Dock Mock-Up Surfaces Online

Bigmanfan

@Real_Obsi Yeah, honestly I got so tired of those people. Basically any YouTuber with "Switch" in their name was claiming the Switch OLED dock would have a graphical upgrade, which was hilariously dumb. I agree though, ruins the fun for everyone, especially the people who don't know any better and get caught up in believing it's true.

Re: Rumour: Switch 2 3D Dock Mock-Up Surfaces Online

@Zequio I mean it would be interesting I suppose but it's not remotely realistic. I'm sorry if I sound annoyed, but I've been reading these theories about "enhanced docks" since like 2021 (mainly from YouTubers who have no idea what they're talking about.) But it's just an incredibly silly idea that would be very expensive and reap little benefit. Also of course they have a patent, they literally have a patent for every possible idea relating to the Switch. I do think it would be kinda fun, but it would never actually be effective or make sense really.

Edit: I also am probably misreading, but the Switch does not have separate chips for handheld and docked. That would be incorrect. I assume I'm misreading tho

Re: Rumour: Switch 2 3D Dock Mock-Up Surfaces Online

Bigmanfan

@Zequio Cause it doesn't make sense tech-wise at all. Having an additional chip would be extremely cumbersome and just probably make development for the console harder than it needs to be. I assume by chip you mean GPU correct? (It's what most people mean when they say chip) So it's going to have two of the most expensive component for basically no gain? I'm just saying, there's a reason no one builds PCs with two graphics cards, and a reason you wouldn't put two in a console. That just doesn't help.

That being said, it will almost certainly perform better in docked mode, because it'll likely be underclocked in handheld to conserve battery life.

Re: Rumour: Another Xbox Game Could Be Racing Onto Switch 2, It's Claimed

Bigmanfan

@anoyonmus I don't think Mariokart style tilt controls would help much then, considering the problem revolves around your acceleration amount being determined by how far the triggers are held down. I do think the concept of linking Xbox controllers to Switch is fascinating though, and feels like it would be an obvious next step for Microsoft. They already have the most popular controller for PC, so maybe they could just become "king of the controller market" or something by making PS5 and Switch compatible contollers.

Re: Rumour: Another Xbox Game Could Be Racing Onto Switch 2, It's Claimed

Bigmanfan

@anoyonmus I don't really know how tilt controls would fix the problem (I'm not really familiar with Asphalt 9). I feel like they'd have to come up with some solution though, right? I mean, is there anything stopping third-party companies from producing controllers with analogue triggers? Otherwise I don't know if it's a fixable issue, cause the game is VERY heavily built around them. I know I definitely wouldn't play it without the triggers, that's for sure.

Re: Mailbox: Switch 2 Caution, Unpopular Opinions, Easy Games - Nintendo Life Letters

Bigmanfan

This whole mentality of "Switch 2 needs to be different" personally annoys me to no end. Nintendo's cramming in of unnecessary gimmicks has gotten on my nerves for a long time. It is legitimately hard to go back and play the wii and DS (even with the nostalgia I have for them) because it feels like every game has some shoehorned motion or touchscreen gimmick. Not to mention, their "fearless ambition" as some refer to it has often alienated third party developers (The GameCube and N64 had rather lackluster third party support because with cartridges and mini discs, Nintendo decided to be different just for the sake of being different). And I think judging a console based on its "charmingness" is kinda stupid.

@SilentBluntman It's okay, I can disagree with more than one person. It's not offensive. In fact, I find your actions to be the more offensive. As someone who is physically disabled, it's incredibly annoying when people throw the term ableism at everything. It actively devalues the term. Save your outrage for something or someone that actually deserves it. Trust me, there's a lot worse out there.

Re: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Has Been Nominated For Another Award

@Bumb_Ditch Well made? I dunno man. Terrible frame rate, boring dungeon design, very passive and uninteresting combat are all things I don't associate with "well made" games. Also, not really comparable to the CDI games. Those were bad, this one's just average. You can't honestly tell me if this was some random indie game it would be anywhere near this GOTY conversation.
