I thought it was a good direct, especially for end of the year/early 2027. Will catch the JPN Direct later.

Nintendo is getting 3rd parties (and replacing cloud editions), which I will always root for. I’m so snagging Fatal Fury (so many fighting games between switch and switch 2, I love it!), excited that Torneko’s mystery dungeon is finally headed west and I am ready for Romancing SaGa 3.

A number of other games and surprises on my list but I am tapped out/annoyed after all the Zelda preorder madness. Still hoping stock will be plentiful around launch. It will take me years to work all these games down lol.

Gave me strong “been there, done that” vibes. Some decent titles, but nothing truly fresh or ambitious.

Just wanted to say that the Japanese Direct had several games not featured on the US stream.

I think there was Shin Megami Tensei on it, either that or another Persona. Sorry, I don't know them very well.

Also Xenoblade Chronicles Survivors is wild.

Edit: Also, I thought they would at least show 1 minute or 2 of the OoT Remake, for those who didn't tune in to yesterday's Direct.

I thought the direct was amazing. a bunch of third-party games I'll finally get to play when I get a switch 2.

Quite underwhelming, only Metroid excited me and Kirby looks promising.

Meh. Not the worst, sure, but barely a passing grade still.

Can't complain really. I think it was about halfway through when I said to myself that Nintendo needs to do more than just S2 versions and N64 remakes but then they announced Metroid and Kirby, so, yeah. Persona, RE, Stellar Blade, Monster Hunter and some interesting other stuff coming. Overall, thought it was pretty good.

In the end I thought it was a good direct.

Much like the previous Direct, I got precisely what I came for with the reveal of a new 3D Kirby in Kirby and the World Beyond. The new movement options from the copy abilities are really exciting. I feel like just a bit more info would have been nice, though.

The Mario Kart World update is nice but nothing major. Metroid Ravenous looks great but I don't really know when I'll get to it since I'm behind on Metroid games. There was a big 3rd-party focus in this show but none of it really did anything for me at all. Also, opening on an already announced 3rd-party port is a weak way to start.

Mostly because of Kirby, I am satisfied with this presentation.

Square still being Square though - charging full price for an upgrade of an upgrade 😂

3. Meccha Chameleon-Heard my friends like and glad I’ll be able to see what it’s all about.
2. Star Fox Adventures on NSO! Would’ve hoped to see another game maybe (Twilight Princess?) but I’m happy for now.
1. Kirby was so unexpected! Glad to see the pink puffball back in action in what appears to be an open world game.

Overall it was a great direct and I can’t wait for more to come!

5, it was fine but doubling up on Metroid, Kirby, and racing games early in the Switch 2's cycle isn't exciting for me, I'd like to see more depth.

Lots of games, but so many already available elsewhere or known about, so no big surprises. The rumors from earlier this week hyped me up, shame on me, and thus this Direct was a massive let down.

It’s was average to slightly above average for me. Of course you can’t beat that Zelda gameplay from yesterday.

I was wrong thinking Luigi mansion 4 would show.
I was correct calling a 3d Mario no show.

Lots of nice stuff overall, shame MKW was not adding 2 or 4 actual main cups.

But over the 2 directs enough to keep me more than happy. It’s all personal preference at the end of the day.

There were some really happy announcements- Metroid:Ravenous looks sublime. Kirby looks an absolute joy as well. Happy to have REmakes on the go.

If they had announced a Silent Hill game it would have been amazing, but I couldn't be more grateful and happy with what was announced today.

I got some news on 2D Metroid, an open-world Kirby, finally a new date for Layton, and a date for Danganronpa 2x2. Yeah, I'm happy. Very happy.

More people liked this outside of Nintendo channels than I expected. It was fine. Metroid Ravenous and Kirby look great. Finally, we're getting RER2-4 on Switch 2 and Crisis Core should be good (so glad I didn't bite on any of those games elsewhere). P4 and 6 were nice touches, even if the former launches later on NS2. Mega Man is looking excellent and confirmation of the MH expansion is great (even if expected). Says a lot I thought this was a 6 and I still want a lot of games from the show. Lol

Really weird when a direct has plenty of good announcements but I still come away feeling very underwhelmed

@Olliemar28 I know you always bring these trailers in the same order as they were shown in the Direct. But this has no extra benefit compared to watching the Direct by myself.

A real service would be to order them by release date. This would really help to get a better impression of what we can expect in the short, medium and far future.

It was a good direct. Nothing crazy but solid. Metroid Ravenous was a huge announcement and the new Kirby game looks really cool. Pikmin 4 Switch 2 edition as well!

There are some decent third party games, too. Especially that Stage Fright game! I’m sure that’ll be a great game for me and my gf to play together. Layton looks good too!

Ultimately it wasn’t a stellar show, but it was still solid and I’m excited for a few games now for early next year.

I give this direct a 7/10.

It was pretty boring in first half but got better in 2nd half.

The highlights for me:

1. RE 2, 3, 4 remakes

3. MK World free content update

4. Danganronpa 2*2.

5. Kirby and the World Beyond (idk if I will buy it or not but it looks pretty good)

It wasn’t the best direct imo but it wasn’t the worst. I do think it’s better than the State of Play at least.

Honestly, Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon Classic HD got me almost as excited as the new Kirby. My kids are going to flip when they see the new Kirby, though.

After sh2 remake and cronos it really seemed like bloober was knocking on the door of becoming a major player in horror. I was stoked for their Nintendo exclusive game, but onyx is quite a let down for me personally.

There were lot of good games shown but vast majority were already a known quantity or obvious ports.

I'm excited for Metroid. It looks awesome. It's a shame it got leaked.

Funnily enough, the other game that got a reaction out of me was the very first Mystery Dungeon game for SNES that they suddenly decided to bring back.

I gave it a 9 mostly for variety and third party support. Metroid and Kirby were my favorite announcements, and some solid ports are probably going into the wishlist as well.

Pretty good Direct. I got most of the games I wanted out of it. Metroid, Xenoblade3, Steller Blade Bayonetta outfit, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, Free stuff in MK World. Witcher, Kirby, and Fatal Fury.

I thought the Professor Layton game looked quite good.
But after seeing how good OOT looked visually, someone needs to hand out Switch 2 dev kits to the rest of the Nintendo studios asap!

I think prior to the Metroid announcement it was a smidgen predictable. Not as a complaint though. I'm glad we have definitive date announcements of confirmed games and confirmed releases of the previous "strongly rumoured" games (eg. Resi Evil Remake Trilogy 2 to 4) coming to Switch 2.

As well as those Switch 2 Editions (providing they're free or very low price upgrades). Then again, we have to be careful about Switch 2 Edition games being kind of potrayed by PR teams as new games. They aren't & their Switch 1 versions look better playing on the extra horsepower of the Switch 2 anyway. Still, as I said, gimmeh those free or low priced ,fully S2 versions, of the S1 games.

Kirby announcement and Persona announcements were my highlight

6, maybe 7 as a metroid, kirby, star fox fan. Also Persona 4 and 6 finally getting something big. I do feel now was the time for either Mario and Smash or at least one of their 6 golden bullets. I theorize that they weren't in because NIntendo was getting tired of their shows getting spoiled by hackers. This was about sticking it to leakers for breaching the shows. They will come. Though see how this bodes for the Switch 2 this holiday.

As someone not interested in Metroid and Kirby this direct was a bit disappointing. Eternal Anima looked really nice though. And I was happy about Layton and Starfox Adventures. Also maybe time to finally play the Resident Evil 2, 3, 4?

Thought it was very good. Wish I’d never played stellar blade before though!

There wasnt a ton of super exciting announcements (MHWilds release date, Metroid, and Kirby for me), but I always appreciate when these Directs have both quantity and variety.

The Sw2 upgrade announcements also continue to be a blessing and a curse, because either they're for a game sitting in my backlog, or I already rolled credits on and have little interest in a second playthrough.

I expected nothing and still came out disappointed.

Very happy about Metroid, but other than that, this direct was.... really boring imho.

Best Direct of the Switch 2 era and arguably a top 3 Direct of all time for me personally. I got MythraKid, Metroid, and Kirby, so I'm eating well.

Undoubtedly if today’s direct included yesterday’s ocarina at the end, it would’ve scored much higher but the truth is we did get ocarina yesterday so overall very good in my humble opinion.

Nintendo appears to be not interested in Switch 1 (owners) anymore, and it's a shame.
Anyway, I'm not interested in an action-focused Metroid, neither in that mandatory "green grass & blue sky" Kirby or that AI version of OoT.
I'm an old thing and should feel thankful for not having played "The minish cap" yet, and having a huge backlog.

Overall, it was pretty "meh" for me. A couple of games caught my attention, but nothing screamed "you must buy me!" this time.

I didn't expect to be interested in anything Kirby, but The World Beyond looked neat, if not a little contrived.

I (and possibly @anti-matter ) am very pleased there's a game strongly representing Malaysian culture in Ondeh Ondeh (I've just recently enjoyed Ondeh Ondeh Egg Custard Tarts.... yum!) and I've love kaya spread ever since I was a kid (Works perfectly with crunchy peanut butter!). The background music in the trailer is a famous traditional song across Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.

It was an ok direkt.
Good phasing, lots of stuff.

But really annoying when they do not mention the price, as for hyrule warriors e.g, if you own the game and dlc, what are you going to pay?

I want to be excited for the third parties, but they seem to be mostly digital-only. I want to be excited for Metroid, but Dread felt super sterile and linear. I want to be excited for Mario Kart, but they won't give us 200cc or regular grand prixs. I want to be excited for Ocarina of Time, but the character designs are pulling the 3D equivalent of that smiley face with unsettlingly detailed eyes. And I really want to be excited for anything Xenoblade-related, but for some reason they absolutely refuse to stop referencing Rex's harem. Why won't you let me love you Nintendo?

I voted 7, which is listed as “good”, and it was good I suppose.

For me personally probably more like a 5 but I’m a man of limited tastes.

Highlight of the show for me was Starfox Adventures. Just booted it up now. Weird seeing the square view on my big screen tv. Still looks good though for an SD game on a 4k tv.

Kirby not the forgotten lands 2 looks good, but will need to see more.

@Late Torneko Mystery Dungeon was my favorite announcement out of this direct. I thought it was a good bunch of games presented, but this modest little game is what got me excited. I've been wanting to play it for a very long time now, and bought it a few minutes after the direct.

So happy I won't have to buy it off of ebay now. Last I checked, for a ps1 copy, it was going for ~ 120usd. I'm glad they updated it, and hope they do a physical copy some day, or put it up on GoG.

As always I have 0 interest in ports and thats what the vast majority of this was so it was genuinely boring to watch. It also included a lot of games that already have multiple trailers. Some even with the same exact logo teaser as before cough persona. And a bunch of little updates or switch 2 edition which are just that: small. The last time MKW got updated, it was a tweet, it didn't need its own minute or so lol. They genuinely could've cut out half the fluff here and just added the Zelda direct at the end

I absolutely loved it, so many interesting games. I get satisfied with 3/4 games per direct that REALLY pick up my interest, so this one was overwhelming, even.
Romancing Saga 2 rmk became one of my favorite RPGs, so I'm especially pumped for the third entry. And another Metroid? And Fire Emblem and Zelda, god
The cadence of first party entries they keep pumping is truly astonishing in the current industry

Metroid looked great. Barely anything was new and the Persona 4 port is going to be 3 months later than other platforms

I havent watched the direct, but looking at the annoucements:

1. New Metroid - YESSSS
2. RE 2,3, and 4 Remakes before Halloween - Nice!
3. Pikmin 4 Switch 2 version - Yay

I'll catch up but those 3 announcements made me happy

Was decent- liked the amount of ports coming and newer games that are third party. Def Metroid was the biggest one for me aside from the resi collection of 2-4 which I hope comes on cart eventually not just digital.

Tired of years-old ports, or Switch 2 versions of Switch titles being the focus. Give us new titles. New Metroid looks good and 3D Kirby is certainly interesting. But every time I watch a Direct I feel like it's the same titles, same franchises. It was "okay" at best.

And once again, “leakers” (more like grifters) set unrealistic expectations for the event and now people feel disappointed for something that was never going to happen.

I don’t how I could feel disappointed with Fire Emblem, Switch Sports Resort, Pikmin 4 SW2, Ocarina of Time, plus a brand new 2D Metroid and 3D Kirby all coming in the next 6 months, a new 3D Mario will arrive in due time no matter when it’s announced.

Have to say I was disappointed. Not usually one to criticise Nintendo's release line up or Directs but it's pretty clear they don't have that much ready to show off. Way too many Switch 2 Editions, which I was fine with before but now it's reaaaaaally starting to get annoying how many games they're releasing and trying to make us excited for. When they ported Wii U's greatest hits it was understandable because so few people owned one. But...most of us owned a Switch 1, and bought these games lol

Bloated with 3rd party slop no one you know will be playing, as always. The only games featured I didn't already know about which I'm excited for was Metroid and Kirby. Oh well, I have a lot to catch up on so a light holiday release line up isn't the end of the world.

Blah, just like basically every direct the last 3 or 4 years. Do you absolutely love every nerd JRPG that could ever exist? Great, you'll be the happiest person in the world. For everyone else, too bad, maybe you get one game to be excited about every 5 or 6 months. Metroid should be good at least and Ocarina looks good.

Eh, not much for me but that doesn't mean it was bad. I'm somewhat interested in Metroid Dread: Cannibal Edition but I feel slightly burnt out on Metroid and Metroidvanias more generally. It would have to do something really different to draw me in. I don't want to collect the Super Missile for the 15th time. I'll wait to see what the eating people thing does.

Kirby looks nice but is not for me.

Basically nothing here got me terribly excited but it seems like there's a lot to chew on for fans of anime/JRPG-style games.

Ocarina of time and Kirby saved it abit other wise a weak direct.

Hopefully when resident evil trilogy releases , then requiem will go for a good sale. I want it so bad , but I always look for the sale first.

Obviously, Metroid Ravenous is the major announcement here, however, for me personally, it's the Mario Kart World update! Super Mario Kart has been my favorite Mario Kart game forever and, for years, I've been wanting a track pack remaking all of the original maps. While this isn't all of them it's half of them and it's completely Super Mario Kart focused. Absolutely wonderful news!

If they had advertised the direct as "a new 2D Metroid reveal, plus a rundown of some other games, but no 3D Mario, sorry" I would have been very happy with it.

I thought it was excellent.. Honestly there are lots of games to play - but it really depends on the type of gamer you are. I'm in my 40's, a Dad, and only have Nintendo Consoles. Nothing against the others - just simply can't afford more options.

Never played the remakes of RE2-4. Very excited for 2 and 4 in particular after loving RE9.

FFVII - Have the 2nd and the 3rd to look forward to

Mario Kart World free update - Heck yes.

Star Fox NSO - Never played it...nice to have access to it to try it out.

Fire Emblem - It's on my list ....but with me not finishing Engage or Three Houses yet I don't have the confidence to invest.

Professor Layton / Persona / Mega Man /Xenoblade SW2 Ed? - All very cool.
Kirby: Nice.

Dont forget Zelda OOT.. amazing - and Final Fantasy Resonance is honestly breaking the mold of what I thought a classic Final Fantasy game was all about. It's a great demo.

Metroid? I tried ..I really tried with Dread and couldn't get into it after a break. I'm happy that people are excited for it but that one is just not for me...

Those are the ones that hit me for those two directs.. Nothing to complain about here.

Among lots of common upcoming games Metroid Ravenous is a rare gem.

I mean, Metroid Ravenous was announced, so I did a 9. They could have took 2 minutes announced it and it alone, and it would be a 9. Not interested in any other game in the direct. No Mario. I count 23 upgrades, remakes, blah blah blah. Gee whiz, embrace the future! METROID RAVENOUS!!!!!!!

I know it’s not right to say that something as subjective as an opinion could be wrong. But to the 3% who voted this Direct as ‘Abysmal’… you are wrong, be better.

It was good. Kirby was the highlight for me with Persona and earlier shown stuff like Danganronpa and Stellar Blade. Metroid Ravenous looks cool but i haven't even played Dread yet so first i will try that.

I was genuinly suprised Fate Extra Record wasn't in the Sizzle Reel since they announced it was coming to Switch 2. GKC in EU and JP but US has physical on the cart for some asinine and annoying reason. The reason being different publishers in the regions. Yes i wrote this paragraph just to vent about that. For some reason Nintendolife hasn't reported on Fate Extra (yet).

Metroid brought this up from a C to a B. If the Resident Evil games were physical I would take it up to an A-, but alas I'm sure they are not. I'm not a Kirby fan, but I could see this one being good. I would try a demo.

Unfortunately, it was never going to live up to yesterdays OoT direct, that was 10/10, no notes (for me at least).

I mean metroid and kirby look amazing so the direct was good i dont agree with nintendo charging for switch 2 upgrade from switch 1 games especially if the frame rate is the only addition the rest of the show other than the 2 games mentioned was rubbish but ill say it was good overall for metroid and kirby

Between Metroid, Kirby, Resi ports and Persona 4/6 confirmed for Switch 2 (along with yesterday’s Zelda blowout) I’m very happy with what Nintendo showed. Scared for how much I’ll be spending over the next few months.

Already seen people like GVG whining about the Direct as a whole and just…ugh. I swear Nintendo fans are never happy.

Only for Metroid, the Resident Evil remakes and Kigndom Come Deliverance 2 is already a 10/10 presentation!
Also Kirby, Onyx, Guardians of the Galaxy, all those free updates, release dates for Stellar Blade and Layton... It was really good!

That was boring, but at least Metroid was there. Looks like I can still survive without a Switch 2 for the time being. I'm waiting for Animal Crossing, Mario, Splatoon 4, or even a cool new IP. In my defence, I'm a casual gamer who just wants my Nintendo Exclusives... and things to play that aren't repackaged 30 year old games. I'm sick of the nostalgia.

Fatal Fury is amazing but i play it on steam.

Metroid is Nice but too expensive. I paid $18 for second hand Dread and i think it was expensive for that game. I paid less for more rich-content games like Prince of Persia, Ori and Hollow knight.

I am Still thinking about buying switch 2 or not.

Recognising that many people expected or hoped for things like 3D Mario, Smash Bros, Animal Crossing and new MKW content, I scored it 8. While I thought all of that was practically zero chance, I secretly pined for something like F-Zero, Wave Race and even a fourth route in Star Fox. While all, again, were likely zero chance, I miss the excitement that surrounds such announcements. We watch Directs partly for that, right?

One minor surprise was the SNES courses available in Mario Kart World. Yes! We also got something for Star Fox with the addition of a split screen mode. Quadruple yes! In lieu of Nintendo's big hitters, I expected something from the lesser series. We got that with Metroid Ravenous (hell yeah) and Kirby World Beyond (no interest).

Objectively, if you balance realistic expectations, and note the slew of excellent third party games, this Direct delivered. Fans need to remember that Nintendo must pace their heavy hitters over another 5 years, at least. We simply won't get all these games in the first two years. The rest of 2026 was always solely about Zelda Ocarina. Watch for the first Direct of 2027 for one of big guns to be announced.

A new 2d Metroid is a win for me but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t let down a bit we didn’t see Smash Bros, at least maybe it’s in the works after the other leaks held some merit. Kirby and Layton were also nice to see.

Nearly everything was just meh to me. I really couldn't care less about 90% of the direct. I guess Nintendo games and their usual partners just aren't for me.

The only thing I cared about was the Witcher 3 and Tomb Raider. Maybe Metroid Ravenous, but actual Metroid games aren't my preferred metroidvania games despite being one of the creators of the genre.

Not as mind blowing as the summer one or the Zelda one (then again it is a tough act to follow). That said, still some great announcements—RE2-4, romancing saga 3, Metroid, and Star Fox content all were solid.

Had they not shown Zelda in a separate Direct, this would have gone down as a miss, but as an encore to yesterday's overwhelming win it's fine. Well played.

And they did show some great news! Metroid and Kirby alone are quite substantial. Mario was never going to appear I guess. Personally I'm a bit disappointed that there's no Paper Mario news.

Layton, Metroid and Kirby were my highlights, but honourable mention also to Ondeh Ondeh Kaya's Tasty Tale. Despite having a weird title I will forget immediately, the way it uses rhythm mechanics in an adventure game looks really cool and original.

Personally, I was kinda underwhelmed, only Metroid and kirby looked good, but let me say, Kirby looks SO GOOD!!! I love a massive open world to explore. Whoever thought they could keep kirby caged dropped out of kindergarten

Metroid and SNK carried that direct on its back tbh. Very excited for Mai’s classic outfit!

I think it says a lot that they announced the sequel to one of my favorite games at the very end of the show, and it was still like a 5/10 Direct. And what's really baffling about it to me is that it felt like most of what it announced would've generally been treated as Nintendo Today fodder (and I think that app is already compromising the quality of Directs because they've been using it for big announcements), and they just shoved it all in here. No wonder there weren't any pre-Direct leaks when one of the two new announcements already got leaked a while back. It's asinine that we don't even have any games with actual release dates after February. Especially when coming right off the heels of a console price increase, they absolutely did not reveal enough. The Pikmin 4 upgrade seems especially weak as well, and everything about how Age of Calamity's been handled is frankly unacceptable. Even the third-party announcements felt lacking. So many of the games they showed had noticeable framerate issues. I'm glad Fatal Fury finally showed up, but even it left a bad taste in my mouth because they had the audacity to say a physical's coming early next year and it's another damn Game-Key Card. Why even bother with releasing one of those late? Similar case for Professor Layton, where it's great it finally got a release date, but it's no longer a Switch 2 Edition and so it's also a Game-Key Card.

Thank goodness the scant first-party reveals we did get were especially exciting for me, but I'm genuinely not looking forward to the February Direct right now because I expect absolutely nothing from it.

Ive got plenty to see me through to 2027 and beyond. It was a good direct against a high bar set the previous day.

..... only thing missing for me was a few third party ports that I am still hopeful for with each Direct that lands. Red Dead 2, Mass Effect, Halo Collection, Forza and Black Flag. A bit of a wish list on my part perhaps.

Nintendo offers solid AA games to fill out the year, continual support and upgrades for old games to keep them relevant, while promising big AAA games like Ocarina of Time and Fortune's Weave, while showcasing huge third-party support with lots of big games to look forward to, and gamers still aren't happy!

This was a super solid Direct. Switch Sports Resort which actually looks really fun with the island exploration, Hyrule Warrios is finally getting the Switch 2 upgrade, with Kirby and Metroid being great first-party highlights.

Monster Hunter Wilds would have been a huge announcement this Direct if not for it being leaked months ago. That in and of itself would have been a huge deal right about now to pull off Wilds on the Switch 2 after gamers claiming for years that it wasn't possible. Leaks once again ruin the impact, and now everyone is left underwhelmed by our own chronic always-on doom scrolling.

@8bit-Man That's mostly been my experience of Switch 2. PC ports that I'll play on PC, remakes of games I played to death way back when, and the odd sequel. My 1st year of Switch 1 was far more exciting.

"Where the **** are Smash Bros., 3D Mario, that Mario Kart World DLC with Fox, Wario Land, that pixel-art remake of Super Metroid, that new Star Fox adventure game and Nintendogs?! The leakers said they would show up!"

Seriously, if you were expecting Smash Bros. to show up this soon after Kirby Air Riders, I don't really know what to tell you.
If you wanted Smash Bros. ready to be shown, they should've developed it along with Kirby Air Riders or start development while finishing it.

That aside, the highlights for me are Metroid, Kirby, Yo-Kai Watch, Star Fox Adventures (which is not "a new SF adventure game") and Fatal Fury.

Was a pretty good direct. Glad i did not go on my phone during work to see what got revealed. Kirby looked gorgeous , and plenty of games i never played before. Just sucks most are downloads as i need to find better memory cards

I loved Metroid Dread and Kirby And The Forgotten Land, so this Direct was right up my alley. Also, I never got to play StarFox Adventures on the GameCube originally so that was great to have it announced. Overall, really good Direct for me!

No Wario Land nor Golden Sun?? 0/10... Nah, jokes aside, I think it was a great Direct. I will get Metroid, Layton nad RE2 for sure. And so many third parties that are tempting to have on the Switch 2... But I have not the amount of time and money needed for them 🥲

@BrewsterTea How do you know it’s that? I think with Nintendo it’s different than with other platforms: The fans still primarily love first party games. And that has pretty much been the gauge for the success of a Direct for years. People are currently waiting for Mario, Smash, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Mario Maker etc.

That, and the same metric that applies to other presentations: If much of the games shown was already previously unveiled or is a minor addition, people are not going to be blown away, what do you expect?

But Nintendo is doing fine, no need to worry.

New Metroid game made me happy for a few seconds until melee counter got to the stage once more. Talk about feeling deflated... Proof of a hero and Persona 6 put me on high spirits again

Resident Evil 2 was another highlight for me

I thought it was a pretty good Direct. I was mostly interested in the first-party stuff, and it's nice to have a few small additions to Star Fox, Pikmin 4, and Mario Kart World. It'll be nice to have reasons to jump back into those down the line. But Metroid and Kirby alone elevated the whole Direct for me. Dread and Forgotten Land were among my favorite games on the original Switch and I'm glad they're finally getting follow-ups.

They’re really not giving anyone a reason to upgrade to the new system. Kirby is seriously the co-headliner of the fall direct? It would have been a great third- or fourth- best announcement. Also why are they still releasing games on the Switch 1 more than 1.5 years into the 2’s lifespan?

I came into this direct not rally knowing what to hope for (I'm not a big Mario fan and I've already got Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Pokemon, and Zelda coming, and I'm not expecting Animal Crossing anytime soon) EXCEPT for more Metroid and I got that!

I felt relieved to FINALLY get confirmation that we were getting Persona 4/6 coming to Switch, but 4 is coming 3 months later than elsewhere, so disappointment and relief are fighting each other on that one.

Other than that, there wasn't much new stuff for me. New Kirby looks cool, but I still haven't played much of Forgotten Land.

So overall, not that exciting (except for Metroid!), but I'm not sure what else they COULD have done to get me excited. I would have liked to have seen release dates/windows for Xenoblade Genesis and Pokemon Winds/Waves. I'm very curious what the release schedule for early next year after Metroid is going to look like. Right now, there is nothing in place for Feb/March before the next Direct.

I thought it was weird that Duskbloods was missing in action after the network test, but I'm not really interested in the game much after playing the test.

More StarFox and Metroid! Everything else was a bonus.

A LOT of 3rd party confirmations and just a bunch of free updates and switch 2 editions. Next to Metroid and Kirby of course which was great!

Amazing two days. First zelda now this. I am also glad they didnt show alot of fire emblem. And love to see the third party love! Amazing direct 8.5/10.

Even after this direct had 2 major Nintendo first party games announced several are still saying Nintendo has no new games. I can only take this to mean they want a new Nintendo IP revealed in each Nintendo Direct because there's no logical reason for that demand.

Things that look rad: Kirby and the World Beyond, Metal Slug Collection, how Proto Man plays with the Captain America tricks, Metroid Ravenous (which is likely Metroid 6), Eternal Anima.

Things that might be rad: Romancing SaGa 3 remake, classic tracks in MKW, Star Fox multiplayer stuff.

Things that I have no knowledge of such things about: Tokyo Revengers, so having them show up in CotW to fight Cristiano Ronaldo is cool I guess.

@Dogorilla ondeh ondeh is a popular Malaysian snack/treat and Kaya is a kinda coconut based sweet jam that's common in Malaysia (it's awesome in a peanut butter sandwich as another option instead of strawberry jam) I'm convinced it was developed (or led) by the Singaporean office of Bandai Namco but that's just pure speculation on my last.

Old Metroid is dead, dread has replaced it. I am sad.

Switch 2's Lineup for the next six months is insane, especially if Kirby makes it out in March.

OoT remake looks ugly but I know I will like it. Metroid has me bummed because it looks like more of Metroid Dread, which I was not keen on. I'm SUPER excited for the RE2-4 remakes, I was hoping they'd come along soon.

Good overall, slightly disappointed still no Clair Obscure. New Kirby and Persona 6 almost make up for it.

You know as much as I loved the Direct I can't really support Nintendo up charging and essentially instantly re-releasing all Switch titles. I spent years buying the Xenoblade trilogy only for them to release all 3 again as Switch 2 editions. Now Pikmin 4! C'mon! I loved the announcements but these ones, while nice for new buyers, makes me feel like a sucker for already investing hundreds into games they're just reskinning and up selling with minimal additions

As usual, I appreciate the trailer roundup. Overall I thought it was a great Direct. Definitely looking forward to:

As for Far cry 3 and LEGO Batman...

I am very interested in the remake of Portopia, including 5 new investigation files, produced by Yuji Horii (one of the creators of Dragon Quest). I do not know if it will be translated, but I can understand Japanese.

@Kilamanjaro At least they’re offering upgrades for a fair price on most of them and even if these versions are better it’s not like the originals weren’t great in their own right. Plus it’s not like they’re making them in lieu of new games…Xenoblade Genesis is on the way, there’s more than likely a new Pikmin in the works etc. I’m personally happy they’re going to back to update so many old games, gives a new lease of life to my library and is encouraging me to go back and replay/finish games I shelved ages ago (such as Pikmin 4).

Do we get to see another half second of P6 every direct? Good lord. Okay, just stop until you can show us more than a logo. Also, is Nintendo just leaning more into Kirby than Mario? We've had several Kirby games since the last mainstream Mario. Yeesh.

I got a few tiny happy surprises (Torneko! Yay!) but it was Kirby that stole the show. It looks like the Kirby game I thought Forgotten Kingdom would be.

I'm thinking like a 7/10? Nothing I'm like jumping up and down for but Ravenous, Resident Evil, Xenoblade, and Persona were all neat.

Of course third party developers are still going to want to sell games to the Switch 1's giant install base. It isn't their concern whether users move to Switch 2 or not.

@Aurumonado jep, and we can fill in quite some blank’s i’d say. We’ll get another mario sports or paper mario game next year (probably june), twilight princess on NSO in august (same as what happened to mario sunshine), i think 3d mario in september, and i think smash in december.

This Direct was better than the one a few months ago, but I am so tired of the feminine boys swinging oversized glowing swords at dragons while grunting.

Starfox and Mario Kart updates were kinda cool I guess. I'm excited for Lego Batman and Resorts. Kirby looked awesome but I'm tired of paying $70 for games that last 6 hours, so I hope it's a more robust and immersive open world style game.

To me, this direct feels like Nintendo switch 2 is just very quickly catching up to the other systems.

After monster hunter wilds and resident evil 2, 3 and 4 we now have, i think, all recent Capcom games on switch. Square Enix is also working hard on it, mainly FF XIV, XV and XVI and single rpg’s like visions of mana to go. Sega and Atlus have now also almost caught up after ReFantazio and Warhammer, just some Yakuza games I think.

Bandai Namco still has some work to do, for instance Dune, and Konami, with mainly Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid Delta. Also, where is the switch 2 version of castlevania: Belmont’s curse?

The ones absent are western developers and publishers: especially EA (mass effect, dragon age, star wars fallen order franchises), bethesda (doom, quake, ghostwire tokyo, deathloop, …quakecon did disappoint me) and rockstar (gta IV and V and rdr2). I think they received their dev kit later than Capcom and SE and just aren’t as skilled in general with handheld systems and their limitations compared to Japanese developers (i think 007 proves that a little) which is why we haven’t seen many of those ports yet, i think.

But the list of potential ports to switch 2 is rapidly getting smaller and smaller.

Some serious port bloat. I understand that there's a subsection of Nintendo's audience who's only ever owned Nintendo consoles, but they really ought to structure these so the rest of us aren't staring at 15 straight minutes of old games everyone's already played years ago.
What's the point of partner showcases if 95% of a normal direct is indistinguishable from them?

That being said, Metroid and Kirby look cool, Professor Layton finally has a release date, and they shadow dropped a remake of the very first Mystery Dungeon in a sizzle reel.

A ton of good stuff. I think everyone just really needs to turn down their expectations for these directs and remember that A, there are plenty of games to play, B, plenty are on the schedule, C, the big ones arrrre coming. So let’s nit be patient and enjoy what we got!

Come to think of it. This Direct has now given me reasons to get a Switch 2.

If you're familiar with my love-hate relationship with the Switch 1, you know that the games that made me glad I got one are Metroid Dread and Kirby and the Forgotten Land back when I got it specifically for Metroid Prime 4. Yes, I liked MP4 but the wait for it almost made me regret my Switch 1 purchase because somehow I wasn't enjoying its games that much. That was until I played those two games in 2022.

Now, less than 2 years onto the Switch 2 life cycle and about 5 years after those games, I'm getting sequels to those two specifically. If they can do what their predecessors did and reignite my passion for gaming, I'm more than ready to get a Switch 2 just for Metroid Ravenous and Kirby and the World Beyond, I just hope the word Beyond on the title doesn't doom it, like it did with Metroid Prime 4 or Dragon Quest XII.

@PikaPhantom It's interesting that you assume we'll get a February Direct. The last general Direct we got in February was in 2023. I guess we'll see if they announce anything else releasing after February beyond Kirby and Pokémon.

I’m so flipping excited to play Cairn on Switch 2… I KNEW I should’ve waited and not bought it for PS5… it’s (I know this can be and is said about every game) the perfect game for handheld/Switch 2. It’s so personal and methodical and contemplative.
Day one buy for me and that’s a double-dip!

Ironically, it's the Switch 2's third party success and power that is causing people to react to these showcases as "meh." With the underpowered Switch 1, news of getting a game like Doom (2016), Witcher 3, or Persona 5 Royal hit like Christmas magic. But now Switch 2 is becoming the console du jour with people souring on Sony, so these ports are expected.

Objectively, this was a great showcase. Whenthe timing gap between Switch 2 and other consoles closes, these can be really amazing again throughout. But currently, it's like when that one 9:00pm news channel would say, "at 9, it's news. At 10, it's history."

Where is persona 5 switch 2 upgrade? Going to milk that $$$ definitely not CD

To go with the theme of this direct, I think Nintendo should just re-release this same direct every few months. No need to create anything new anymore when we can just re-release the past

@LastFootnote I honestly forgot it's been that long. I don't really foresee them being able to scrape by on Nintendo Today drops for the subsequent months until June, though, especially because we know Winds and Waves were originally targeting this year and it's since been reported that the 2027 window they were given still means their usual November release timing. Even with Kirby being a confirmed spring game and Xenoblade potentially releasing in June (maybe May at the earliest, but the lack of a dub for the reveal trailer suggests it'll probably need to wait until a year or so after its announcement) that'd still leave 2 months without games for the first half of the year, not to mention that they'd likely want their July release confirmed by then. February is already borderline because it's relying on just a Switch 1 port. I suppose they could just date Kirby on its own and push the Direct into March, but last year in the middle of February, post-Mario Tennis, there were 6 already announced first-party games slated for 2026 plus Splatoon Raiders, which ended up being a 2026 game anyways, and the Switch 2 Edition of Mario Wonder. 8 releases, compared to 3 + one Switch 2 Edition equivalent in 2027. Even if The Duskbloods gets treated akin to a first-party game in the release schedule and gets delayed into 2027, there's still a need for a few more announcements to cover the first half of the year.

I gave the direct a solid 9 so much games to enjoy just hoping Capcom puts resident evil 2/3/4 in a gen pack form down the road and to those who believe in those ridiculous rumors/leaks that's on you if you felt disappointed even though the direct was great.... Reason why don't get over hyped.

9/10 for me. New Metroid, all the other Resi remakes, Monster Hunter Wilds, Kirby, Professor Layton. It was like that meme with the cakes. "What? Seven cakes?!" I'm a happy camper. Only thing that stood out for me was the total lack of any new Mario outing. It seems like his 40th anniversary was mid at best.

Absolutely amazing Nintendo Direct.

Metroid and Kirby were the highlights for me.

I'm also potentially interested in Professor Layton, and I really want the Metal Slug collection to have on the go.

I'll buy the Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 remakes on Switch 2 once they go on sale.

I didn't watch the Direct because I knew I will never like the majority of the games announced.
I never like AAA games.
I only have interest with Ondeh Ondeh, Yokai Watch 2, Switch 2 Sports., Mega Man Dual Override and new Kirby game.
That's it.
Overall, it was terrible Direct.

I'm so excited for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Kirby and the World Beyond, and Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United! This was one of the best directs I've seen in a long time!
