Got the Mario Kart bundle back when the Switch 2 first came out so not much use for me, but glad the option's back for folks.

Funny story on that, my roommate and I both bought them day one and mine arrived first. Mine didn't actually have Mario Kart tied to the console and instead just included a download code, so there was some initial confusion when his arrived as to where his code was before we noticed the box art between the two of them was different.

Do you get a game with these bundles? 🤓

I know that we get a Mario Kart bundle every holiday season, but I wonder if Nintendo noticed that MKW wasn't selling outside of the bundle? The sales numbers fell off a cliff as soon as the bundle was discontinued in January.

Ocarina of Time Remakemastered is still supposed to be coming out this holiday, correct? Feels awfully quiet on that front.

I’m sure it wouldn’t be out until November or December but it still seems quiet. I know we just had that article about 10 days for the controller and Switch 2 but that was a leak, not a real Nintendo announcement. And the article a month before that was about the ESRB rating someone found online, also not an official announcement.

I suppose they’re saving it all for the big holiday blowout September Direct. What say thee @Grumblevolcano ?

Cool, the OoT bundle/system (if it is real) should be about the price of the MKW bundle. At least I know how much to put aside now.

I like the way the bundle boxes are designed. They seem very capable to draw eyes.

These are nice for those who want them. Personally, I'm still holding out for a Zelda themed Switch 2. Though I MAY be persuaded by a great deal over the next few days.

More than anything though, I wish there were different pack-in joycon colors to choose from than the default neon red + blue.

@rjejr Either a Zelda 40th anniversary Direct or a Zelda 40th anniversary segment in a general Direct. If Nintendo sticks with the pattern they'd had since September 2023 (alternating between general Direct and Partner Showcase), September would have 1 week be Zelda 40th anniversary Direct and a different week being a Partner Showcase (perhaps bundled with Indie World like August 2024) while the next general Direct appears in February 2027.

I can't see the point of this. Banaza, Tomadachi, even FE... But not this one.

@Tyranexx I definitely don't like the red and blue. I don't like being reminded of politics every time I pick up a system to try and ignore politics.

@rjejr It's a bad idea to market Zelda before Fire Emblem is released. Besides, they know OoT is going to sell stupid numbers. They don't have to market it at all in reality. YouTube will do that for them.

@Misima You underestimate the power of nostalgia. I teared up just seeing the plane fly towards Wuhu in the last direct. Wii Sports Resort was one of my core childhood games.
Not that this will live up to it but still.
It’s going to sell like crazy. Very accessible and much more attractive to the masses than Mario Tennis I think

Oh how I wish I could go to Toys R Us and see these lined up on the shelves around the holiday season.

I saw absolutely zero reason why switch 2 won't last at least as long as the OG switch did the way it's currently running games. Love mine to bits

@Misima Fair point lol. Red and blue are actually two of my favorite colors, but IMO I think this joycon color scheme is getting kinda stale. At least the regular Switch allowed us to choose between the neon or grey joycon. Though I suppose the joycon 2 design makes this less important.

Still, I'm a consumer. I like at least some variety and options lol.

@AussieMcBucket Yes but only a digital copy, the code came with the console. You just had to redeem it as soon as you install it. With these new bundle you can play Mario Kart World online as well as get 3-months of NSO membership so in addition to the digital copy of Mario Kart World, you can also play all games that were release so far for the Game Boy/Game Boy Color, NES, and Super NES NSO. The only five systems you can't play any games from are Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, GameCube, and Virtual Boy games since those required the NSO Expansion Pack upgrade.

It's nice that they're throwing in a few months of Online. They'll definitely sweeten the deal when it comes to these two games.

I believe this is FALSE. The launch bundle did not include the 3 months of NSO. This difference should be factored into the savings change.

Is the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time coming out this year? It is nearly September and I am not seeing it on the upcoming section on any online stores.

I just wish they would announce the next 3D Mario game.

Decent way to entice ppl to buy these.

@BaldB3lper78 - I’m pretty impressed with how well third party games hold up against their PS5 counterparts, the quality of the ports are much better than they were at this phase of the Switch 1 lifecycle. I agree with you that as long as developers continue putting in efforts to provide a great port, the Switch 2 is going to dominate the PS6.

@Olderion yeah Nintendo Switch Sports has sold over 18 million units, it's a massive sleeper success, and just another example of "hardcore" gamers completely underestimating and patronising the wider market.

Maybe we could just have one system with a game of your own choice included?

@DollyrotsFan1 2026 is just the stock date, they hadn't announce a release date yet, heck they had not even fully reveal the game yet. All we saw during the June direct was a teaser trailer and nothing else. It's likely we may see something about the game in September, as far as I know Nintendo want this game released before the launch of The Legend of Zelda live action movie.

At my side, i got the Canada Mario Kart bundle, when the NintendoSwitch2 first came out.

P.S. For the 2027 battery change by the user version. Did it will have the name, "NewNintendoSwitch2", or it will change the carton retail box color/size, like blue or white color retail carton box?

@Robot99 Eh MKW been consistently selling over 500-600k per quarter without the bundle and its quite literally been Nintendo's top selling game between both Switch 1 & 2 in each quarter report barring new releases.

Yeah it's not selling to 75% of new Switch 2 owners like when there was a bundle but to say its not selling outside the bundle is absurd.

Sheesh, $550 seems like a brave new world for Nintendo. Really hoping they can continue sales momentum with $500+ console prices over the next year. A more affordable Switch 2 Mini can't come soon enough!

@Lizuka Reminds me of what happened to me and a friend of mine. I pre-ordered my Switch 2 MKW bundle from GameStop to be delivered on launch day. My friend just so happened to be working at Wal-Mart during the midnight launch. He picked up the MKW bundle and came over to my house after work.

He had to go to work in the morning, so I talked him into letting me keep his system. And give him mine in return. Once it was delivered. Anyways, the system I ordered was delivered the next day and I noticed it didn't have a code inside the box or a sticker covering the opening tab, so I assume someone stole the code. I finally realized the bundle boxes were a bit different, and after a quick Google search found out some MKW bundles come with a code in the box and others have the game pre-loaded on the system.

@Teksette It's quite an improvement. Mario Kart and Switch Sports aren't the kinds of games you beat in a few days and put away. When you want to play a quick 5 minute game of Tennis, most people aren't going to want to swap the cartridges.

@Tyranexx My switch had Goku colors due to the dpad being only available in Dark blue so I got the Orange to go with it.

@Olderion That's fine, but my nostalgia was basically dead by time Wii Sports happened. I played that at college parties.

And regardless of that, we can all agree Nintendo isn't really bringing anything new with this sports game. I am not buying it, and that's not a judgement of it's value, but Zelda and Mario are games everyone buys. If they go all out with Sports and bring back everything from the older games and enough truly new so everyone is interested, then yeah that would be a good pack in game. But I just don't see anyone choosing free sports over free kart.

@Misima Well it’s a good thing FEFW comes out in about 3 weeks so they can tell us more about Zelda then. I’ve never played any of the previous versions and my Switch 2 needs something to do. Not into FE and I returned Splatoon Raiders. So I guess it’s OoT by default.

Too bad Nintendo is such a small indie company that they can only focus on 1 game at a time, meanwhile companies like Capcom seem to have like 5 games going on at once. 😩

Your opinion is valid! We used to play games sitting on the floor with a pile of cartridges, but these days we’re planted pretty firmly on the couch and expect a hundred games or more playable at the push of a button. And Kart and Sports Resort probably fit best with short play sessions.

Even so, in general I still think a download code is relatively lame. You can’t admire it on the shelf, or lend it out to friends, or sell it off should the desire arise. You can’t romanticize it, it won’t trigger fond memories, it’s not living here in the physical world with us. Sometimes the coupon codes even have expiration dates (hello Capcom). And though Nintendo has behaved when it comes to DRM, regimes change. I trust a cartridge in hand way more than the bean counters who increasingly seem to be calling all the shots in the shrinkflation era games industry.

Ultimately it all boils down to one’s perceived sense of value, which varies a lot, person to person. ✌️

The Sports Resort bundle is reminiscent of the Wii Sports pack-in back in the day (albeit without a physical copy... sigh...), but I'm still holding out hope for a themed bundle (which will likely be a Zelda OOT one).

@Tyranexx Yeah, it's a shame that the sequel is just black and blue and red.

While I like the black just fine, I really wish the inner part was something that meshed better. I would have even been happier with black and white on the internals. I think it would have been awesome if they did Green and Blue for Luigi like the switch 2 was player 2. Which could let them do Peach and Toad be the colors for 3 and 4 as an inside joke for Super Mario Bros 2 USA. And 5 could have been Yoshi colors. Lol

@rjejr That's fair. You're not required to like everything. I think MKW wasn't worth the money and if I had the power of foresight I'd have not gotten it. So I get it. 3 Houses was IMO the second best game on the Switch that wasn't an indie game. If the only thing you're interested in is OoT, that's you're right as regards to taste.

Also, I am probably not going to get OoT remake because I already own it on 64 and GameCube and I haven't played it in like 25 years. Unless it's a truly new game, I don't see the point. But I do think it is in their best interest at Nintendo to focus on getting people to buy Fire Emblem before showing off Zelda. Regardless if a large percentage of the people already made up their mind. Because people are impatient, people are bad with their money, people have FOMO, and YouTube/twitch are the best marketing in existence for these things.

You might even watch someone you like play the new game and change your mind. And if you don't, you can always wait two months for the one game you want. Unless you die you're still going to give them the money I'm sure. but if they hype the games out of order they are suggesting on some level that they are in competition when they want you to think of every Nintendo product as complimentary.

@Misima I don't mind the overall black color scheme of the Switch 2 either, just wish the joycons had more variety out there lol. I do agree the black on white would look more striking/mesh better together and honestly half expected it after the Switch OLED. I suspect more colors will come in time, just...likely as separate purchases. Unfortunately.

@Tyranexx I honestly don't know if they're going to do different colors just because I don't think the demand will be there as much. I think they're going to do designs instead. The Zelda Switch seems to imply that's the route. Honestly, I don't care much about the colors, I am just not happy with the red and blue. But I don't care that much because I never look at the controller anyway.

@Misima You say LoZ and Mario are games everyone buys. But 18 million people bought Switch Sports. That's more than Super Mario Bros Wonder.

It has its audience, it isn't me or you. But I think the fact it can have that scale of audience without appeal to hardcore players means that it will bring players that Zelda or even Mario can't reach.

Tbh if every game Nintendo made was one that could make one specific fan happy every time. Then they'd probably have a much smaller userbase as they'd be failing to cater to a wide range of tastes.

If they have Switch Sports Resort and Ocarina of Time Remake bundles during this holiday season. then even with the price rise I think they're probably going to do better than 2025 where the only holiday season exclusives not also on Switch 1 were Kirby Air Riders and Hyrule Warriors.

Any word if it's the battery replaceable version or is it the final push to get rid of that non-compliant stock?

@Misima It's hard telling what Nintendo will do sometimes lol. But I do agree they may lean more on designs instead of full color swaps, at least in the near future. One of several reasons I'd like to get the rumored Zelda Switch 2 since it looks very different. I like the design, plus I'm a huge Zelda fan.
