The latest Splatfest event is over and, after some valiant battling from all sides, it's 'Team Beach' that managed to come out on top this time around.

Until next time!
Update [Fri 12th Jul, 2024 14:00 BST]: Are you ready for the long summer nights this weekend? Because the next Splatfest is about to start!
Have you picked a place you'd reserve for the day? That's the question Nintendo asked leading up to the Splatfest, which begins on 13th July (or 12th July for those in North America). So you're either Team Palace, Team Theme Park, or Team Beach. And don't forget the customary new artwork to accompany the Splatfest.
Will you be joining in the fun this weekend? Let us know down below.
Original article [Fri 21st Jun, 2024 13:05 BST]: Summer Nights, the next seasonal event coming to Splatoon 3, was announced just under a month ago. And now Nintendo has revealed the details about the accompanying Splatfest.
As you'd expect from a summer-themed party, this Splatfest is asking fans to pick a place you'd reserve for a whole day. The options are a Palace, a Theme Park, or a Beach. Not the easiest decision, but we think we'd have to go for the Beach.
The Splatfest kicks off on 13th July at 1am BST and runs until 15th July 00:59am BST. Going by previous Splatfest times, we expect that the US equivalent will be on 12th July at 5pm PT to 14th July at 4:59pm PT.
The last Splatfest was back in May and was considerably less chipper than a Summer celebration. It wanted to know what you'd do at world's end. Bucket List won that one.
Don't forget, we've also got a guide on all previous and upcoming Splatfests, which we'll update with all the times for the July 2024 Splatfest.
Are you still hopping online to play Splatfests? Let us know in the comments.

This is the easiest one in a while. BEACH!
I appreciate that they announced this on Twitter instead of wasting time in the direct.
This might be the hardest decision yet! (for me personally, I'm finding it difficult to choose)
I can't see many choosing Palace, surely there was a better option than that. Me personally I find beaches very boring and when I go on holiday I'm usually the odd one out that just wants to explore whilst everyone else just wants to sunbathe. So I'm going for Team Theme Park, never been dissapointed on a day out at a theme park.
#BIGMANSWEEP (sorry Frye, they gave you the worst option again 😑 )
I’ll choose reserving a Palace. Beach is my second choice because I always love a good, relaxing beach vacation, but a palace would be different, I’ve never had a luxurious vacation, and I miss being on Shiver’s team. Big Man keeps winning all of these special Splatfests anyway.
Too bad this is only for one day. After reading a translated Japanese tweet, I thought it meant renting out a place for all summer. Must have been a bad translation. Reserving one day at a beach or theme park is normal. A palace is not!
On-topic: my initial reaction was to go Theme Park, but @Red_211’s comment reminded me that it’s Frye’s option, and idk why, I just don’t really like Frye? I’ll probably just go with whatever team the majority of my friends are on.
Off-topic:
Are Splatfests usually announced three weeks in advance?
Also, regarding the headline’s wording of, “Splatoon 3 Reveals…”, is that an SEO thing? Outside of that context, and at least for those of us “in the know”, the wording seems a bit strange.
Which is the hardest color to be spotted swimming around in this time around? That will be the winner and the team I will be in. 😂😂😂
These splatfest choices are getting worse and it seems after 3 games, Nintendo is finally running out of ideas. For the first time, Shiver herself has gotten the worst choice in a splatfest while Frye has at least some chance. Big Man however is the obvious choice (because summer = beach right?) 3 idols to vote for may have been a good idea on paper, but now Nintendo is just running out of fuel for the splatfest fire. (Who knows, Splatoon 4 might reinvent splatfest altogether...)
Beaches are kinda overrated tbh. I’ll be sticking with theme park for this one
@AccessibleDaydream Thanks for mentioning my comment. You're the first to do so here's a gold medal! 🥇
I can go to the beach whenever, reservation or not.
Not having to queue at the theme park would be novel, but having the entire place deserted because you’d booked it out would make it feel like the set of a horror movie.
Having free reign over an entire palace on the other hand sounds awesome! To be king for a day!
@Red_211 YEAAAAAH!!! Always love seeing a fellow big man supporter!
Never been a big fan of beaches. I’ve spent summers on a beachfront cottage as a child and I’d still spend my day playing Shadow the Hedgehog and Tetris DS.
Don’t really see the value of a palace. Its just a roomier house. I’m currently house sitting as it is and I feel like this place too big for me.
Reserving a theme park sounds like an excellent opportunity to stack a day’s worth of fun activities. Some of my favorite days of my own life already have been spent in theme parks, so to have that opportunity without waiting or reserving sounds too spectacular.
Awesome! Super close to my birthday too! I'm probably going to be team beach.
Theme park honestly, that would just be so much fun and the theme park here can be any time park! A palace doesn’t sound all that much fun and the beach is whenever.
Beach seemed like the obvious answer until I remember that Puroland and Harmonyland are theme parks.
The generic "a theme park" isn't thing appealing but once I started thinking about the particulars, it got a lot more exciting. If I had Harmonyland to myself for the day, I wonder if I could force them to lift their ban and let Gudetama in the park.
Theme Park for me! But it’s gotta be a true theme park like Disney or Nintendo, not one of those amusement parks like has a logo slapped on a rollercoaster. I don’t care about the rides as much as I do animatronics and fibre glass sculptures.
Not a fan of palaces or the sea. A lakeside campsite would be appealing though.
Man, I am so disinterested and checked right out of these lame Splatfests. It's time for folks to admit the truth that Splatfests were never good in this game.
Theme Park for me.
Beach man all the way. Cabbage Beach on Paradise Island. Dickinson Bay in Antigua. Palm Beach in Aruba. Prove me wrong.
Theme parking all the way, like Michael Jackson hiring out Disneyland for himself.
That hot depiction of Lemon-Lime Shiver makes me sweat…
I sadly don’t expect Palace to do well. Beach will likely win because of Big Man always winning these seasonal Splatfests and teams with a nautical theme do well in Splatoon because this is a game about squids and octopuses. Theme Park seems popular. Truth be told, I almost never expect to win Splatfest anyway. But there’s been times I thought it would go one way and it went completely the other. I just hope we get some Splatfest points instead of zero at the very least.
Spending a day in a modern palace would be amazing with the best facilities, services, food and utilities I can only imagine. You can rent a beach house if you have the time and money, and that’s typically for longer than a day.
I have a sneaking suspicion Team Theme Park is more like Team Amusement Park, and there’s a big difference. Amusement parks are the generic fairs, not something like Disneyland or Super Nintendo World. Even if it’s interchangeable, do people seriously believe they could do everything they want at a giant theme park without crowds in only one day? It’d be amazing for sure, but I’d be absolutely exhausted from hurrying everywhere and going on certain rides a dozen times. And I STILL couldn’t do everything I wanted in one day if it was any Disney park!
I don't know why I just can't get into Splatoon 3 as much as the first 2.
Team Beach FTW!
I'm going with team Theme Park!
@OctoCallie20 Step off of my Splatfests. I still get hyped for each one.
On team "I haven't been playing in a while".
This game died so hardly on me. It's been a long time I played. I'm still kinda disappointed about Splatoon 3, I even got the OLED model Splatoon 3 edition.
But even after a lot of updates, I'm not enjoying it, I liked online in Splatoon 1 and 2, but not here. Even the single player in 3 isn't that great in my opinion.
@RobTheIII same here mate.
Nintendo is pushing it with that Shiver art.
Woo! Team Theme Park! Nothing would be better than throwing a massive rager in an empty theme park and eating way too many fried snacks.
Man, I always forget splatoon 3 exists
Splatfest started. PEOPLE! GO
@Kyloctopus They're literally scraping the bottom of the barrel for these laughably awful themes for the Fests in this game, not to mention they decided to create a third idol in Big Man instead of making him a simple, easily-ignored in-game digital whatever mascot.
Theme park could include a palace, or beach themed area (or both), so it's the obvious choice!
@OctoCallie20 People love Big Man. Life is better with Big Man than without Big Man.
I think you take these themes too seriously. This game’s entire aesthetic is goofy and so are the themes. This one is supposed to emit summer vibes and it simply does the job, not to mention, they put the work into new music, new designs and setting decorations for a 2 day event. its still reinvigorating to plenty.
Surprise, surprise. Big Man still has a monopoly on seasonal Splatfests and nautical teams still pack a punch in Splatoon.
Team Beach won by racking up points in second place across the categories. If the game still had the old scoring system before the Version 7.0 update, Theme Park would’ve won. They got the popularity curse hard. No wonder I barely played against Beach. This is more proof the new system helps level the playing field for unpopular teams.
At least Team Palace wasn’t completely washed out. Don’t feel too bad, Palace Pals. Now to see if Final Fest is August or early September for the game’s anniversary like I would originally expect. If it’s the latter, then there could just be regional fests in August, but it’s too unclear right now.
Team Theme Park were robbed. Robbed I tell ye!
Completely forgot about this Splatfest tbh. I've actually gone back to playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe online again along with Pokèmon Sword and Shield.
I was on Team Beach. The fact we won this Splatfest is a complete 100% shock to me! I have never been assigned so many unbalanced teams, and participated with so many dysfunctional and listless teams over a Splatfest weekend, than this one. So many teammates just wander off to go visit Kanas, while the rest of us were getting slaughtered. I use so much profanity this weekend yelling at my TV, I am sure my neighbors were concerned. I played a session early on Saturday 12:30-1:30AM, every team I was assigned, was absolutely slaughtered. Match after match after match, we just kept getting destroyed, we couldn't come up for air. One player Foxoo racked up a KDR of 16:2.
This Splatfest weekend was the worst examples of unbalanced teams I have experience since participating in Splatfest.
We did it! Nice going Team Beach!
Great Splatfest!
The next time someone argues about the sanitation and de-sexualization of Nintendo's IPs, I'm going to point to Callie's decision to go commando for her performance, and the fact that we know this because of the bizarrely pronounced G-string tan-lines they included on her model for ... reasons?
It made me chuckle. I just pictured the graphic designer being given that task.
-Oh man, great outfit. Could you add some panty tan lines so that it's more clear to everyone that skirt is riding as low as possible?
-Ummm ... SIr? This is a fictional squid character, there really isn't any reason for that level of detail ..
-YOU HEARD ME DANM IT
-Right. Yes Sir. Right away Sir.
The team I'm on always seems to win when I personally don't do well haha (Positive win rate, but lost four 10x).
I had fun for the little time I played! It just such a shame I’m always sorta missing these I just forget. Gg
@Jack_Goetz I was team beach, played for about 4 hrs on Friday and didn't play a single Palace team. Not once. Not sure what that means but was incredibly odd
@CammyUnofficial Outside of Tricolor battles, I don’t remember seeing any matches with Palace either. I did have a LOT of matches with Theme Park though.
Also, as @beaus27 mentioned, I had so many matches where the game wasn’t even close, in addition to losing streaks a plenty. Now, I’m not going to sit here and say it was entirely or even mostly the game’s fault, because lately my performance in normal ranked modes has been inconsistent and less than stellar (relative to my all-time performance), but it does seem like something is going on with the matchmaking, in some way, on some level, and I can’t quite put my finger on it, except to say that I never really had any of these issues in Splatoon 2 (that I remember).
@AccessibleDaydream When I played COD I noticed the speed at which the opposing team was running around my team, day and night difference. I often wonder if it has to do with gamers on the West Coast being in closer proximity to the game servers in California, Silicon Valley or Redmond, wherever they are, compared to my not proximity to the game servers way over here in Florida.
@beaus27 I’m on the east coast as well (Maryland, specifically), and like you, I think it might be server/P2P issues, unfortunately.
@AccessibleDaydream that's peculiar. I didn't do any Tri colors myself, but i also think I didn't have (m)any mirror matches. It was comical at some point playing against Theme Parks that many times in a row. Ah well, hope you had fun anyway, I def did
@CammyUnofficial I tried to, at least! In the end Team Beach pulled through (by some magic I don’t understand, I was sure Theme Park would win), and I only had two total mirror matches: one in open battles and another in tri-color. The tri color one especially was interesting, since the colors were purple, orange, and green for some reason.
...Ok? Whatever, these Fests just get worse and worse, especially with 85% of the Big Man fandom being "stans" and toxic mantoddlers in the Splatoon community. And this is why I strongly denounce Big Meme and his stans. This game would have been absolute perfection if he weren't an idol and more of an in-game throw-away mascot and stuck to the "two-idol" formula of the first two games. But no, they just had to desperately and aggressively shoehorn Big Meme in and turn the Fests into pure dogwater concentrate.
