Video: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Gets A Brand New Overview Trailer

I have this on the 3DS, but only remember playing maybe a third of it. Yeah, I'll double dip and get this. But first need to finish the one on the Switch. I'm stuck in a boss level — the one with the dinosaur. Played it a couple of times and just got frustrated with that boss and put it down.

Luigi's panic noises always make laugh

This is just like Donkey Country: Tropical Freeze. Was a Selects title on the previous console, now being sold "new" for more than double the price, AND now you have to pay for the online multiplayer too, when it was free before. It's a complete rip-off from Nintendo here.

Dunno why they are releasing it now when October is, like, another 4 months away

The Luigi's Mansion games lost any magic for me when all the ghost designs became totally bland and [no pun intended] soulless.

No local co-op for the main story means no-buy for me.

I really just don't even get the appeal of Dark Moon on a base level, much less on a console that already has 3 on it. I don't even think 3 holds a candle to the first game but at least it's kind of within spitting distance of it, 2 is basically just the same game as 3 but with a repetitive mission structure that utterly wrecks its pacing and not even a pretense of decent enemies. The whole endeavor feels like if tomorrow they announced they were porting the first Mario Maker, just, why even bother?

Doesn’t seem like there’s new content from this trailer, and usually it’s the overview trailer or before that confirms new content. Unless, of course, it’s late game new stuff they didn’t want to confirm beforehand.

Surprised it’s $60, this probably somewhat of a Skyward Sword situation where it probably should’ve been $40-50 since not much was really done with it and it was cheaper on the previous console. I’d understand the price if it was bundled with the 1st one or it was completely remade, but neither of those seem to be happening here.

I’m still excited for the game, as it looks pretty fun and I liked the other Luigi’s Mansion games. ScareScraper is fun so I’m excited for that as well!

Nintendo selects

The pricing for this game is insane. The 3DS version was 40 euros and this goes for 60... I'll wait for a discounted version once the stores need to dump their stock.

I could see me picking this up at the library if I see it, which is more than I can say for a lot of Switch games lately. Don't think I've played anything on it since Wonder last year.

Yeah, I played it on 3DS, and it’s fine, but I’m not getting it again when I can replay 3 with local co-op.

Any chance they will add more checkpoints in the levels in the HD release?

Anyone else here feel like the visual upgrade ain't that great? It has this weird textureless unfinished render look to it. Couple that with the boring enemy designs the HD version inherited and this looks quite bland. Unless ppl rave about the gameplay being unique in this version I think I'm gonna skip it.

@dcstud I had to look up a guide on the dinasaur. You have to let the dinosaur eat Goouigi in the second phase. I didn't realize this because he never seemed like he was trying to in the first phase when I was using Goouigi as a distraction. I think you also can't have a fallen egg ready in your poltergust, or the dino won't eat Goouigi. Like it doesn't trigger the event (there was something weird like that). It doesn't never happened for me until I let Goouigi sit there and I did nothing else.

Still can't believe that this got the Switch treatment and not the original Luigi's Mansion that's infinitely better

I feel like im in the minority here, but is anyone else not a fan of this game? It's way too linear, monotonous, and sometimes down right annoying. It feels like Luigi's Mansion got "New Super Mario Bros-ified".

@Lizuka 100 percent agree. LM2 tarnishes the first game and turned it into something that its not. Oddly enough I really did enjoy LM3, but still the first game just hit it out of the park. I get legit mad thinking we could have got the first Luigi's Mansion with the graphical fidelity of the 3rd game.

When will your review come out?

I like to imagine Nintendo is holding out on releasing the first game until the new console releases. Because of its structure Nintendo was able to make it an absolute showcase of the GameCube hardware early on and I could see them wanting to do the same for the next console. Or they are just weird and want to sell the remaining 3ds copies 😂

Never played 2, so def will get this... provided I can flip the Y axis.

@Dang_69 Thank you. Some time when I have a bit more patience and between other games I'll go back and try to get past that area. I'd really like to finish the game off sometime.

@dcstud I haven't finished the game either and need to, lol.I just remembered the solution because it was the last boss I remembered fighting.
