At the Xbox Games Showcase, Atlus announced two new Persona games. Just days later they were confirmed for multiple other platforms. A Switch version of Persona 5 Tactica was included in this reveal, but at the time there was no mention of Persona 3 Reload for the hybrid platform.
Fortunately, there still might be a chance. After a placeholder box art for a Switch was discovered last weekend, it seems another listing for Nintendo's hybrid platform has now popped up, this time via the online retailer Playasia - with an image of a "preliminary picture". This was highlighted by a fan via the Nintendo Switch subreddit:

Of course, this does not officially confirm anything and may not necessarily lead to an announcement. At the same time though, it has seemingly given some fans hope that a Nintendo Switch release for Persona 3 Reload might still be a possibility, with some users in the same subreddit speculating this could be a future "Nintendo Direct" announcement.
At a glance, this remake does not look beyond the capabilities of the Switch, especially when you consider some of the impossible port jobs in the past. Atlus has also previously released Persona 3, Persona 4, Persona 5, and a number of spin-off titles on Nintendo's latest system.
This minor development once again follows the confirmation of Persona 5 Tactica for the Switch earlier this week. The new tactical RPG spin-off will be released later this year on 17th November 2023. Persona 3 Reload is also scheduled to arrive in "early 2024".
Do you think we will eventually see Persona 3 Reload on a Nintendo platform? Would you be interested in this upcoming release yourself? Comment below.

I don't see any sense in that remake if it including only original game.
@AnVold
I agree. They should’ve went in to this project to make a definitive version of the game with content from all three releases. I’ve heard “the answer” was not well implemented and was grindy but they could’ve just reworked it in the main game. Let’s not also forget they are also not having the female protagonist or her social links.
@GameOtaku yeah, that's why it's better to play P3P because it have much more content for now. But I hope they gonna include other content in remake as DLC and make something like a definitive edition. Then it'll be worth for buying.
I think it’s possible. The trailer didn’t look like anything that couldn’t run on Switch to me.
Persona 3 Portable is already a perfect game. I’m not really sure what the point of this is, especially when P3P has only just been rereleased. If it was still stuck on the PSP and Persona 3 on the PS2, then this would be amazing news. Now it just seems like wasted development resources.
If anyone has held off playing Persona 3 because they want a slightly prettier version, then, er, good for you. I hope Atlus makes its money back. But I fear the audience will be small.
If this is true, I hope this will be a good conversion to the Switch. Even though Persona 5 ran very well on Nintendo’s handheld console, the rendering resolution disappointed me for a PS3 game.
Yeah, I'd still rather wait for Atlus or Nintendo to make an official announcement. Just because there's a listing doesn't mean it's 100% confirmed.
Neat if true, but with the reports of Reload somehow missing FES and the female protagonist route, the already ported P3P sounds like it may remain the definitive version regardless.😅 Honestly, I hope this and the original Etrian Odysseys coming to Gen 9 without Untold campaigns doesn't form any kind of pattern.
The pattern now seems to be (derived from Prrsona and maybe Etrian)
First, rerelease the original as a "remaster"
Second, remake the game but leave out additional content from prior remakes
Third, sell an extended version of the remake with the oft requested additional content (as dlc or a "Royal/Golden" version)
Thereby selling the game thrice to fans and early adopters...
Worked with FF7 as well (rerelease, Remake, Integrate)
Company/Shareholders need the money 💰💰💰💰💰
Why are so many people saying that it’s better to play an older version of this game when so little is known about improvements that may have been made ?.
It’s a knee jerk reaction at the very least. Dungeons may have been improved to fall into line with P5, the translation may be superior and the graphics and UI definitely look much better the load times might be quicker. I think it’s a big problem with the world today that people don’t do enough research before they state opinions like they are facts. It’s way to early to write this game off given we know very little about it.
Why Atlus can’t just be up front about whether or not their games are coming to certain platforms is beyond me.
I mean, everything except a solid confirmation from Atlus, points to P3R coming to the Switch. But then it was also thought that Soul Hackers 2 was coming to the Switch at some point too.
Despite the lack of FES and Portable exclusive content (but to what extent? For example we already know that there will be actual exploration so it has something that FES has from what I've heard that Portable doesn't have), I'd like to see this version also on Switch to give people more choice, fingers crossed it will be announced later for it just like last year other than the box art and these listings suggesting it!
@locky-mavo Sometimes it's solely about Nintendo. Like last year, P5R/P4G/P3P could've been announced for Switch at the same time as the PS4 version but instead Nintendo saved the reveal for their Partner Showcase 2 weeks later.
So one way of interpreting the Reload situation is that Nintendo's going to do a Direct of some sort sometime in the next few weeks.
@gazamataz We know that Reload will be stripped of content added in later iterations, one being already available on Switch
Regarding your translation point, doubtful. A lead of the localization came out on social media when the game was officially announced and revealed their involvement. This individual is a fan of butchering translations, to fit a political agenda. Defending people translating things completely incorrectly and changing intent behind the entire premise of manga authors works, just a bunch of bad decisions that were personally motivated instead of just doing their job. Big red flag.
It seems unlikely, but I'd like to be proven wrong.
I can't see them confirming P5 Tactica and then saving Reload for another time. Even if Tactica is technically "a smaller game", they would never treat it that way with their announcements and marketing.
So here's what I'm seeing so far... People are fine playing the "visual novel" version of Persona 3 (P3P) and still consider it to be the definitive version, while there are others who complained that P3P is outdated for modern standards and would much prefer something along the lines of the original or P3FES?
Nintendo direct?
@AlexanderDaniels it’s not being stripped of content. The game is just based on the original version of the game. You might be right and it might be an inferior game . I have hope that it might be a superior more focused game with improvements.
I appreciate that You have researched all there is to know about the game there just isn’t enough information known to make any sort of rational judgement. Persona games are usually pretty good 👍🏻.
I love being sold the same games over and over again.
@Krull Nah, Persona 3 Fes with mods was still better than Portable. After they release the remake, it will become the better version available and the more definitive way of experience the game.
@AnVold Well you can’t really play FES viably in any legal means unless you really held on to your old copy and P3P was stripped down way too much [doesn’t even have proper city overworld for starters unlike FES/Reload/or any proper modern Persona game really] just to run on a PSP so that isn’t ideal way to play Persona 3 either so really Reload is the only realistic way to play a “proper” Persona game version of Persona 3 even if it doesn’t have Answer/F.MC
Reload ironically is still gonna be the definitive edition to play if you never liked Answer [which there are people that don’t] or never cared about Female MC [again there are people that don’t]
What does gonna suck for those that enjoyed the P3 ENG dub is the whole cast is getting recasted in Reload. P3 Eng Dub was full of VA dub veterans so maybe they couldn’t afford them this time around hence why they got more novice/cheaper/lesser known VAs.
@GameOtaku
It's honestly disappointing that Atlus doesn't want to include the female protagonist in this remake. It's not a deal breaker but if they were going to remake it from the ground up they might as well include the option. More options to the player is always a good thing.
Yes I know it requires more resources to include all the social links etc but come on we all know Atlus could include all of this if they wanted but chose not to.
Watching the trailer, there's no way that platform listing is complete. No way would they release this only on Microsoft consoles and PC. Persona has always been primarily a Sony franchise until recently when it expanded.
@Arawn93 but I can, because I have a original copy of P3 FES for PS2.

I don't own a physical P3P copy because it's very rare, but I enjoyed playing it on portable console. Especially a new F.MC story and Margaret boss fight. And P3P is great, because it give you an option to fully control your allies.
So, Reload can't be a definitive edition for me and I gonna buy it only if it'll include all content in one disc/cartridge. Only then I can enjoy a truly definitive experience of P3.
If you don't like Answer/F.MC, you can play just original story, but I need a full game. Oh, and I always play in jrpgs with original japanese voices if I can do it. So I don't care much about Eng dub. Subs is pretty fine for me.
I think that all but confirms that it’s coming to Switch. One of my favorite ps2 era RPGs, yes pleaseZ
Not having the FMC isn't a deal breaker for me, but I would have loved if it was in there. The fact that what I have read says they aren't going to add the Fes content, instead of just not having the Answer portion does worry me. I'll miss the VA of the old cast. I'll have to see more before I even think of getting it.
This like the 3rd or 4th retailer to leak a Switch version, it's definitely coming over. Probably just reserved for an upcoming Direct, it's weird, but same thing happened with the Persona ports last year.
@Krull
I don't get that opinion at all.
Especially the Portable version I really don't like because compared to FES it lacks the immersion of actually running around places, which is important to me for the way the entire game feels. Not to mention the graphics in general...
But even if I go with FES, the game could really use a remake.
I did play Persona 3 FES in the past and loved it, but I will immediately buy the Remake and play that version again. It's that big of an upgrade to me.
I would love to see the rest of the tensei games on the switch. Maybe a tensei collection with all the nes and snes games? If not at least the persona 1 and two persona 2 games along with persona q
I dare not hope. Lol
