Round Up: Everything Announced At The February 2023 Pokémon Presents Showcase

The only thing that really got me to go ''well, that's kinda neat'', was the Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic thing. And even that I'm most likely not going to get.

This presentation was an absolute snorefest even outside of Pokémon Sleep.

What a boring event. The only notable thing was the Scarlet/Violet DLC which they barely showed anything of and isn’t coming out until fall. I went with low expectations and they somehow underdelivered on them lol.

If I can't get a new physical release of S & V with patches and DLC on cartridge, I just don't care.

It’s kinda lame they didn’t announce gen 1-3 Pokémon games for the Switch, this would have been the perfect timing to celebrate 27 years of Pokémon red & green being released.

I can't think of a more appropriate presentation for Pokémon Sleep to be showcased if you know what I mean.

Since they didn’t add any N64 games this month, today would have been perfect to add Pokémon Stadium. But since they didn’t announce Gen 1 or 2-3, do you guys think they will eventually add/ release them on Switch?

Did they fix the main game yet? I'm waiting to jump back in when they finally patch the games performance issues.

Estimated Release Date of Part 2 DLC being April 30th 2024 is telling something, they got a really dry year.

No new Pokemon game this year...Only good thing was the DLC's.

Sometimes I wonder if Pokemon Company remembers it’s supposed to release their games on Nintendo consoles…….this felt more like Pokemon Mobile Direct if anything 😑

Hope this direct being underwhelming means that they will start spending more time developing the games instead of rushing them out. Unlikely but I can only hope.

Boy that certainly left a lot to be desired...

It was still a fun presentation for a Pokemon fan! Alhough I personally was hoping for Mystery Dungeon due to the Spike Chunsoft mention in the website code, as well as a R/B/G shadow drop.

• LOVE the new Yokohama World Championship artwork!! The new Paldean Pokemon fit perfectly with the Japanese theme.
• Pokemon Sleep finally revealed?! Ironically enough, they're acting like using your smart device right next to your bed, right when you're trying to fall asleep, will help you sleep! Spoiler alert: using your smart device right before bed is TERRIBLE for your sleep, as well as the blue light from screens severely disrupting your natural melatonin production. Not exactly a great way to get good sleep, but perhaps enough phones will have nighttime lighting options, at the least.
• Pokemon Cafe Remix is so cute, and I wish the main Pokemon games would integrate more of these kind of cute lifestyle mini games into the main games, just like Kirby Forgotten Land.
• Scarlet/Violet DLC looks amazing! Can't wait for the Teal Mask, and I'm really happy that we travel back to a proper Japanese island in the Pokemon world.
• Hoping for a regional form Shiftry! That would be perfect for the theme. Also confirms that Sprigatito was the superior choice to take with you into the Teal Mask. Also hoping for a regional form Starmie/Milotic/Kingdra/etc for the Indigo Disk DLC2

All the heavy negativity is pretty revealing, honestly. You're always supposed to go into a Pokemon Presents with lower expectations. Pokemon is what it is, and it will operate on its own time, unburdened by lofty demands from jaded hardcore gamers.

Was really hoping for classic pokemon games on nso I think if the word is spreading around enough they should release them

This was a tragedy i wasted 20 min of my time for this bs.

this was the worst Pokemon Presents i watched, full of mobile crap and no intereting games, no even a mention of Detective Pikachu 2 or a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

I'm used to these Pokémon presentations focusing a lot on the mobile games so I didn't mind that. But I'm disappointed that there was no mention of classic games coming to NSO, I thought today was the perfect chance to announce that (if it's ever happening) with the eShop and thus the Virtual Console closing next month.

Other than that, the SV DLC seems pretty nice. Looking forward to it!

Overall I'm disappointed with this presentation. I already have a fit watch so Pokemon Sleep would be redundant and unnecessary. Pokemon Go Plus + is a stupid name for an accessory, and the DLC is underwhelming with no actual gameplay shown and no promise of the games being fixed anytime soon.

"yeah we know the game runs like hot garbage but what if we threw some more garbage on top and asked for another $35?"

Just for context, here are some highlights from previous years:

2018 Direct: Let’s Go reveal
2019 Direct: Sword/Shield reveal
2020 Presents (delayed til June most likely due to pandemic): New Pokemon Snap reveal + Sword/Shield DLC with gameplay and shadow drop
2021 Presents: Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl reveal + Legends Arceus reveal
2022 Presents: Free Legends DLC + Scarlet/Violet reveal
2023: Scarlet/Violet DLC (no gameplay)

We’re definitely getting another presents later this year closer to the dlc release but man… this current one felt lackluster.

All the people complaining about how bad this was (I don't know, I didn't watch), makes me laugh.

What a lousy...thing. I think the show was the only thing that stirred anything in me and that was weak too. Whoever is in charge of Pokemon right now is doing a terrible job.

WOW it was so bad I thought for a minute it was a Sony "state of play" presentation.

@Maulbert they've been really good in the past, and lets' face it Pokemon may be only 1 IP but its got several different types of games under its belt. Pokemon main line games, then spin offs like "lets go", legends, mystery dungeon, conquest, Pokemon channel, pinball, Detective Pikachu, puzzle games, mobile games, TV shows, movies both live action and animated, anime, card came, figures, ect.

Thats like saying a Mario direct would be a bad idea. You have 3d Mario 2d Mario, Mario kart. Mario sports, Mario RPGs, Mario movies, ect.

Man…I guess we cannot have a mind blowing Nintendo Direct and a mind-blowing Pokémon Presents in the same month. It would be so mind-blowing that reality as we know it would collapse into oblivion. At least there is going to at long last be a Pokémon game I can play simply by sleeping. That’s a good thing…I think…

@Magician You are never going to play this downloadable content anytime soon if you don't want to, well, download it. Sword and Shield don't have a cartridge with the DLC included, so Scarlet and Violet definitely won't, at least not before Sw/Sh do. I doubt there are ANY first party Switch games that have been re-released with DLC packaged in (not counting ports from an earlier system). Your insistence on everything you play being physical is only making you miss out on games now.

I understand the desire to ensure you'll always be able to access certain content no matter what happens, but unfortunately modern gaming is not going to go back to that style. Have fun with this DLC when Scarlet and Violet get remade in 15 years.

@Bizzyb Nope, and no word on the patch that rolled out recently or on the existence of future patches.

The card set looks amazing, and I'll be in Japan for the first ever PWC in the area, so ... pretty neat.

Not sure what people were expecting really. A DLC for Arceus would have been great, IMO, but I wasn't counting on it.

Actually, Sword and Shield received physical releases that included the DLC and patches on the cart, years ago. And surprisingly, in all regions at that.

For basically any major, commercially successful retail game, there WILL be a physical version with DLC and patches released, somewhere in the world. Breath of the Wild being another example that received such treatment.

Not interested in any of this stuff. Don't play mobile games, don't collect cards, skipped S/V. But a stop motion series... I love (And make!) stop motion so I'm looking forward to that. I still need to watch Wendell & Wild, and the Pinocchio movie.

I can't help but LMAO at all these expectations people had from watching Youtuber's clickbait "Leak" or "Prediction" videos. People put waaaaaay too much expectations into these things.

The DLC was still I have to think carefully.

I really didn’t expect any classic Poke games to be added to NSO. Regardless of the fact that we are paying for these subscriptions, it feels like Nintendo feels like they are “giving away” the games they provide to subscribers. But that said, why not just make the, available for purchase?

A remake of Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver complete with a new color Pokéwalker for switch would have blown away all of these piddly announcements combined. But no, don’t give the people what the people want. Give them junk in a special presentation to make it look nice. Sorry, it didn’t work. We should have expected they’d do this though, I mean look at the half baked effort Pokémon Scarlet/Violet is. 🤨

@Kiyata Why would they re-remake the 2nd generation instead of remaking the 5th generation?

The best thing about the presentation is that they showed how dedicated they are to shamelessly monetizing the Pokemon IP.
Hopefully this continues to help people wakeup and smell the roses that have long since wilted.
