As we reported just last week, Toby Fox has once again reiterated that no new chapters of Deltarune will be launching this year. We're very sad, of course.
However... new screens and music have been showcased via a more substantial development update to tide us over. The update comes via the official Deltarune website (be sure to check out the full post for a listen to the new music!), in which Toby Fox states that "the development of the game is only going to get smoother and smoother".
Here's what he had to say in full:
As stated last time, we've been simultaneously working on Chapters 3, 4 and 5 of DELTARUNE. A few more people are helping out, and the pace of the game creation is definitely improved from last time. The intention was to work on all three chapters simultaneously, but so far we've mostly just gotten work done on Chapter 3 and 4.
Between 3, 4, and 5, we've already exceeded a chapter's worth of bullets, cutscenes, and gimmicks. Not only that, but the next chapters had certain aspects that took a while to set up, and now that those things are in place, the development of the game is only going to get smoother and smoother!
As always, I want this thing to come out the most out of anyone on the planet, so we'll be doing our best to get it done.
As for the new screens? Well, we have them right here for you:
Last but not least, the final image teases an environment, with the blog asking "where could this possibly be?!". Well..? Where do you think, dear readers?
To close out, Fox announces that a 'SPAMTON SWEEPSTAKES' prize / charity auction will take place on Saturday 12PM PDT on the official Deltarune site, so be sure to check that out if you're interested.
What do you make of this new development update from Toby Fox? Looking forward to Chapters 3, 4, and 5? Let us know in the comments!

I developed an attachment to the world of Deltarune much moreso than I ever did for Undertale. I'm happy to wait for as long as we need to, but I am so eager to see more.
The wait will be worth it.

Question for you guys...
I've downloaded Deltarune chapters 1&2, but within those chapters is their a complete story? Is each chapter a sequel of sorts? I don't want to start the game if I can't even play all the way through and have to wait years to pick up where I left off.
@Zulzar
The two chapters each can be enjoyed on their own merits.
They take place inside different "worlds" to each other, and the story within each world is a self-contained story.
But the story surrounding the worlds is still not fully told yet. They definitely are two smaller parts of a much larger whole. Playing just chapters 1 and 2 does not feel like a fully cohesive game experience - we still need the rest of the game!
No giant toilet in the middle of the street this time?
@Zulzar going off on Earthbound boy. The self contained stories are way bigger than I first thought though. Haven't finished the 2nd chapter, but chapter 1 felt as big as Undertale itself! I
But yhea, there's a lot of bigger mysteries we don't know the answers to yet!
(It's a bit like a crime show. There's always some bigger story that spans multiple seasons! )
So? I am jus thankful that he gave us a little update at least.
