Been waiting for Ever Crisis. Hope they release a PC version. If not I'll have to buy an IPad or something.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that DQ X Offline will never be ported to the west…
Ah man, I hope they show off a new Tomb Raider, Dues Ex, or Marvel game.
OH WAIT!
@MathGeekDave DQXI's localization wasn't announced until the day the game launched in Japan. I'm anticipating a similar situation for DQX Offline personally.
@HotGoomba In fairness they would likely been hot garbage from modern SE if they didn't sell them off for NFT funding.
Speaking of NFTs, we going to see their first project? Or still a little too early?
@ReaperMelia @MathGeekDave It was odd we never got DQX over here in general when MMOs were the super hot thing and FF14 remake was doing gangbusters. But alas SE have a love-hate relationship with Dragon Quest and the West.
Today I found out Power Wash Simulator is published by Square Enix.
@XenoShaun My understanding is that DQ just wasn't big enough in the west to support it at the time. Given that it's an MMO that's supported by subscription fees, you'd need a sizable playerbase to be paying to make up for all the localization and server costs. Enix was pretty terrible at marketing the series in the west up until Nintendo showed them how to do it with DQXIS, so it probably would've flopped at the time unfortunately. Not to mention that it came a couple years after FFXIV 1.0's massive flop and before A Realm Reborn redeemed the game, so they probably would've been wary about localizing another MMO at the time, especially for a series that was much less well-known outside Japan. There'd be a lot of expansions to translate by now too if they tried to localize the Online version, which is why I only expect the Offline version to get a worldwide release personally.
Also, on the NFT subject, their first project is a Cloud figure that comes with an NFT... that's a picture of the exact same figure. Even by NFT standards, it's pretty pointless.
Odd how Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent isn't there. Usually Square Enix would want people to know about their latest mobile garbage too.
Regarding Power Wash Simulator, revisionist history will rank Mario Sunshine higher based on the burgeoning "cleaning" genre that it pioneered. After Rockstar makes a critically-acclaimed big budget open world entry in the genre someday.
Power Wash Simulator?? Um.
@XenoShaun We didn't get FF XII either though. I think they first wanted to test the waters with their first MMO-games.
@MathGeekDave I keep hoping that Square will see the light of reason and release both (online and offline) to the West but i will not hold my breath. Same for a decent port or remake of DQ 3-9.
Man, I forgot about the Adventure of Dai. Sad to see that it turned into a mobile game. If I recall correctly, it was originally a console title, wasn’t it?
But seriously Square’s making me want to tune into TGS.
@ktej75 DQ 3 remake has already been announced
