At the Disney & Marvel 'D23 Expo' earlier today, Switch fans were treated to a special exclusive announcement.
Introducing Disney Illusion Island - a brand new 2D four-player co-op adventure starring "Mickey & Friends". In this new game, you'll go on an adventure with Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy as you run, swim, wing and jump your way through three "magical books" to save the world.
This will involve unlocking special abilities, solving puzzles, performing platforming feats and taking down some "epic" bosses.
So, when is this one coming out - for now, it's simply 'TBD 2023'. As can be seen in the tweet above, it's developed by the English developer Dlala Studios - best known in recent years for its work on Battletoads for Xbox and PC.

Easily the best thing from that dreadful showcase. This looks excellent, like Castle of Illusion mixed with Rayman.
At first I wasn't a fan of the art style but it grew on me. Looked pretty good. I'll keep an eye on it.
The Queen would've loved this.
Love me some Rayman, and this game looks like it. Hope to see more from it soon
I kinda wished they would have used the art style from The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse.
Looks solid actually.
Looks like a good Rayman Origins clone. Let's hope it turns out well.
Crazy as I was literally refreshing on the Illusion series earlier on.
This is a pleasant coincidence.
Oh! Cute! Probably going to buy. As an ex-owner of Castle of Illusion and Quackshot and World of Illusion
This looks nice
@strollin_stu The late, great Bill Hicks.
I hope Sora makes a cameo.
I love the current style Mickey cartoons, so this looks promising.
Not 100% sold on the art style, but this still looks fun. Nice to see another Mickey platformer. Would be really nice if Disney released the previous Mickey Illusion games on Switch in preparation for this one.
It looks like Rayman Legends... but waaaaaaaaaay s💩💩💩tier.
I wasn’t to thrilled with that new Battletoads game that came out recently but this Disney game does look fun. They should make this online play too.
@KJW90 Please post this on everything
That was the Disney game announced ?
Yikes. 😣
Wonder if this is a push to keep Mickey relevant in hopes of retaining a copyright.
The trailer is pretty cute! The classic Mickey games are mostly great, so hopefully this continues that trend.
Looks cute and fun but will say that it's crazy to me that this is the first side-scrolling console game starring Mickey since 2013 and the first completely original one since 1995.
We'll see where it goes. I like Mickey Mouse and platformers, if it gets a physical version not tied to any of those limited run companies, I'm on board.
Eh, it looks alright I guess, honestly I'll need to see more footage before deciding if I want to buy it or not.
I like the modern Mickey Mouse cartoons as well as good or decent Disney video games, so I’ll have to keep track of this one!
Nice.....if its $19 max!
Exclusive to the Switch? Sounds like Nintendo paid some extra money to Disney.
@GrailUK Late? He's still alive; he just changed his name.
Why do so many cartoons look like this now? Disney had a good thing going for 80 years and somehow ended up with this over the course of the last couple decades.
I've seen this art style on a few things hosted on Disney+ and I really can't stand it. It feels like the animators are actually mocking (sometimes called "subverting" these days) the original Mickey cartoons. I think this is evidenced by how they kinda/sorta use the really old art designs but then play with them in this absurd style.
Hate it.
Game play and mechanics look good though
Money hatting Nintendo (joking)
Didn’t they make the new battle toads
Missed opportunity to use more of the Cuphead style graphics, after all early Mickey Mouse is the type of cartoon that art style was based on.
That said game looks great!
What's TBD? I want TBD.
If its not like world of illusion, I am less interested
Looks decentish I suppose. Cool art. I'll need reviews though.
@Jiggies Hmmm? I hope he's still not alive, they buried him ages ago.
Sounds awesome.
Looks pretty good to me.
Looks terrible. I was hoping for cuphead, this looks much worse than a 10 year old Rayman.
Art style looks like a bad acid trip.
@Anachronism What’s wrong with this style? At least the visuals aren’t afraid to make a statement and I’m always overjoyed to see traditional 2D animation is still being made.
@PinderSchloss It's boring is what's wrong with it. The colors are flat. The shapes are overly geometric. The characters are practically stick figures. Compared to something really hand-crafted like Hollow Knight or Cuphead, this visual style looks like something that was pumped out as cheaply as possible, just like most recent 2D animation. It doesn't even come close to Disney's older TV shows, never mind their 2D movies, which they've completely abandoned at this point.
