There was some news yesterday that Sonic Frontiers could be getting some DLC, and now the official Sonic the Hedgehog social media account has shared a new image of the upcoming release - teasing fans with the following line:
"The answers are waiting just around the corner"
It's a desert environment featuring a giant that appears to be a giant enemy:
While this line is obviously open to interpretation, Gamescom is taking place next week and Sonic Frontiers has already been confirmed for the event. Geoff Keighley and the official Sonic account have previously confirmed Frontiers will be making its "world premiere" at Opening Night Live on the 23rd August:
The way Sega is hyping things up at the moment, this may just be the first proper reveal of the anticipated "open-zone" Sonic game. According to a recent promotional listing, Sonic Frontiers could be arriving as soon as November and is currently scheduled for "holiday 2022".
In related news, Sonic Frontiers has also received a new Japanese commercial:

Yay! Where going to see more environments!
I hope you can run from one place to the next! I’m So hyped!
that's just an inlustration, it doesn't reflect the game really
This might just end up being that great 3D Sonic game everyone has been waiting for.
@Jiggies Even if it was a 10/10 game that was praised like Breath of the Wild, I guarantee Sonic fans would be the most divisive on it, and that's speaking as one.
I'm just looking forward to seeing what progress has been made. Cause those gameplay videos a few months back were a bit dull and bare bones, in my opinion.
It is commendable how Sega keeps pretending their game is highly awaited
Sonic in the world of Xenoblade 🙈🙈🙈
@misery6,
With the power of consoles these days the line between artwork and actual graphics is getting smaller all the time, pretty sure this will look pretty decent.
I don't care what anyone says--this is one of my most anticipated upcoming releases.
For something apparently supposed to be out this year, that they started hyping up a year and a half ago, it does kind of feel like Sega's desperately trying to stall actually showing anything of substance about the game. Think the most we've gotten is that few minutes of Sonic running around a giant field with seemingly nothing in it.
@Not_Soos nice to see someone who thinks the same. I’m getting this day one no matter what!
I wonder how big the corner is?
The artwork reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus. Actually, this game reminds me a lot of other games, except for Sonic. Breath of the Wild, Shadow of the Colossus, Xenoblade, but not really Sonic. Anyway, Sonic fans will be happy with it.
@Not_Soos,
Same here, the game looks awesome.
don't think a lot has changed, it's gonna feel empty and soulless, but with beauuuuuutiful scenery 😴
Green Hill's looking a lot more like Sand Hill right now!
They need to start sharing more gameplay and story details not pointless cryptic pictures like this one.
I rather see more actual gameplay than this im still not hyped for this.
I'm in the minority and I liked what's been shown of Sonic Frontiers so far. I mean it basically looks like BOTW but with Sonic as the playable character and that's fine for me. I've never been a fan of other Sonic games to begin with.
@KayFiOS It's been looking like that since the first level of Sonic Forces.
I really hope the game ends up being as good as the artwork they've been showing.
Maybe we can buy the artwork as a dlc unlockable. By 'we' I mean 'you'. Sega blows.
@Nua I think you're right. Some people can be really unfair when it comes to 3D Sonic games.
@misery6 do you really think the game will only comprise of grassy plains
@Lolcat, not really but a couple of illustrations and a mini-video does not end up convincing me how varied the biomes are
@misery6 In an interview iizuka was very tight lipped on the amount of islands. They want to keep it a mystery which is why they're only showing the tutorial island
@johnvboy yes, but good graphics do not necessarily mean good game, mario tennis aces will look good but it is a video game that disappointed me or that such sonic forces, I was also disappointed and expected it to be a good game and it was not, bad controls, terrible story, short scenarios, I hope you understand. P.D my native language is spanish not english, i apologize for how it is written.
I haven't really been following the coverage on this game tightly, but the message I'm seeing is this game has not indicated to people the story arc and gameplay flow effectively enough. From what I've seen, it "seems" to be BOTW with Sonic, which is not a bad thing for my tastes. But I too find myself wondering how well concept will meet execution. I will keep an open mind, but it's time to start showing more, SEGA.
@misery6,
No issues, I am hoping the game plays as good as it looks, so far the 3D Sonic games of late have not been that good, hopefully this will turn things around.
@Alpha008
The “corner” is a few days, there’s a “world premier” trailer at Gamescom this Tuesday.
