Earlier this week, Nintendo revealed it would be rolling out the first free update for Mario Strikers: Battle League.
This update adds two new characters - Daisy and Shy Guy, a new gear set 'Knight' and one additional stadium known as 'Desert Ruin'. It's now officially gone live, and as part of this, Nintendo has shared the patch notes over on its support page.
Version 1.1.0 includes additional content, added features and general changes, adjustements and fixes:
Ver. 1.1.0 (Released July 21, 2022)
Additional Content
- Added “Daisy” as a playable character.
- Added “Shy Guy” as a playable character.
- Added the “Desert Ruin” stadium.
- Added the “Knight” gear set.
Added Features
- Increased how many items can be displayed in the Notifications ticker in Strikers Club.
- When choosing "Random" on the Character Selection screen, the geared version of the Character will be selected (if one exists).
General
- Reduced the probability of scoring on a weak shot from far away.
- Reduced the probability of Stars appearing when you are losing by a 1 or 2 point difference.
- Revised the CPU behavior and opposing team composition in Cup Battles.
- Added visible trail to the ball when it’s not in active possession, making it easier to see.
- Made player numbers easier to see when playing online.
- Fixed an issue when playing as Waluigi and using a hyper strike in which the ball could hit a goal post and not go in.
- Made several other adjustments to game balance and fixed several other issues to improve the gameplay experience.

So glad they added Shy Guy and nobody else.
"Reduced the probability of scoring on a weak shot from far away."
About freaking time! Some online players scoring with a half-@$$ed shot from the middle of the field got boring.
@HotGoomba “Hi Im shy guy!”
I’ll try it out to see how Daisy is.
What is this "Daisy" that everyone's talking about? The flower? The Disney character? Daisy cottage cheese and sour cream? Why is everyone making a big deal about Daisies?
I love these detailed patch notes! Definitely fixed some issues I’ve been facing.
Wait what am I talking about? Shy Guy is the only thing that matters in my life. His lose animation is SO GOOD, I love how he just stares into the camera
I do like this game, Tis fun and frustrating…
But I wish there was some other incentive to keep me playing… it is light on content.
Play football against cpus, play football online for no real incentives other than making your club which nobody joined have a slightly different goalpost.
I’m not being unfair, am I?
@Alpha008 No I’m with you. There’s just not much of a reason to play solo. Fortunately I have some friends to play with which makes it a lot more fun, but yeah, I agree
@Alpha008 - Yeah. It’s pretty lacking in extras.
Trail sounds good
id be excited but at this point im just numb and tired at nintendo's 3rd mario sports game where they slowly bring back typical content throughout the year
ill give them props for giving shyguy shorts though, thats good game design
Despite Daisy now being in the game, I'm still on the fence on whether or not to get this. I play games mostly offline and by myself and this doesn't seem to have much to offer a player of my demographic.
Ohh I hoped for the new music theme. Can’t stand the og tune, which is very wild for a Nintendo title…
@calbeau don’t. I regret it a lot. First Nintendo game that I regret buying actually.
Admittedly, just them having made it so the ball is more visible now makes me want to try it again because that was a highly frustrating aspect for me.
I'll still probably wait for at least the next two updates though.
How about allowing us to invite people to our clubs? How about a transfer market? Make the stats which are already tracked public. You could offer top players coins to join your club, set a once a month switch or something to stop people abusing it. Wouldn't that be great? I'm not a developer, you'd think they could've come up with some cool features for the game...
No 4v4, no go. Also what was the point of choosing the characters for the club? Never felt more sorry about buying a game
Let me know when we actually get new stages, not skins. Maybe then I'll buy the game.
@strollin_stu it’s hollow.
@Friscobay Thanks. Maybe I'll hold out for a possible definitive edition with all the updates included. It may be better then, if that ever happens.
@Alpha008 It's a lot more fun when you join a club with active players! You should join mine!
@SonOfVon Choosing the character allows anyone in your club to use that character. You need different people in your club to make different characters so that you have a variety of options.
I gotta say, I’m a little conflicted about these updates. On the one hand, it’s hard not to feel like both these characters, especially Daisy, should’ve been included day one. But I have to admit, this did get me to play again just to try out the new characters. So it is fun to have content added, but still. I’m hoping one of these updates gives us a little more substantial single player mode, but for now I’ll just enjoy Daisy and Shy Guy!
@Alpha008 not unfair at all, I agree. I really wish there were a few more things to unlock or do on the single player side. Because the gameplay is great, there just isn’t much of a “reason” to play it over and over, Yknow?
@Alpha008
Not at all. This is a 60$ game.. for this price the content is very underwhelming. For me this game is still overpriced and a rip off.
Simply the best Sports game on Switch? With 9/10 rating? That's very misleading for your readers NL. I can't trust your rating anymore..
@calbeau Nintendo never had a definitive edition of a sport game. The game is hollow, it is not about the the lack of content, it’s a new normal for this type of games. The problem is the price. 59€ for this is a no way.
@Friscobay Yeah, it's the price compared to content that turns me off it too. It would be nice to get it during a hefty sale, but as a Mario game I know that's never going to happen.
@Miu same. It was hugely overhyped, especially here. I regret the purchase a lot.
@Miu
They are Nintendo Ambassadors so what do you expect?
As for me maybe I will get it after a year when it becomes a full game and not an early access 60$ game.
