Nintendo has finally confirmed that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass Wave 2 will be launching on August 4th, 2022.
After weeks (or maybe even months) of speculation, we now know exactly which courses will be featured in the next release. These include Kalimari Desert, Waluigi Pinball, Mushroom Gorge, and debut track Sky-High Sundae.
Here's the full track list:
- Turnip Cup
- Tour New York Minute (Mario Kart Tour)
- SNES Mario Circuit 3 (Super Mario Kart)
- N64 Kalimari Desert (Mario Kart 64)
- DS Waluigi Pinball (Mario Kart DS)
- Propeller Cup
- Tour Sydney Sprint (Mario Kart Tour)
- GBA Snow Land (Mario Kart: Super Circuit)
- Wii Mushroom Gorge (Mario Kart Wii)
- Sky-High Sundae
These eight new tracks join the tracks from Wave 1 — read our review of the first wave right here — and will be available to download from next Thursday.
Of course, you can access Wave 2 of the Booster Course Pass if you have access to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass, or you can purchase the additional DLC separately.

Nice selection of tracks.
Sky High Sundae and GBA Snow Land are both surprise inclusions. They must be coming to Tour in the future. They look like Tour tracks in their style so it's all but certain.
This also marries up perfectly with the data mined course console list - whereby Sky High Sundae was one of the blanks. Which means, Kalamari Desert looks set to be the last N64 course...! That's a shame - especially since N64 was overlooked in the original MK8 DLC too!
Odd they spent so little of the trailer on GBA Snow Land when all the other "new" tracks got longer - The two Tour Cities and Sky High Sundae. It's as if they forgot that GBA Snow Land has never featured previously?! That track is by far the biggest surprise for me. We kinda knew something new was coming from Tour due to the blank, but everyone assumed GBA would be a previously featured course, like Rainbow Road.
Looks like a marked improvement over wave 1.
WALUIGI PINBALL! YES
Best Mario Kart track ever
Also interesting that the wave includes a brand new track despite them having said that the DLCs will only include retro tracks
-insert "it's been 10,000 years" meme-
Excited for Waluigi Pinball and Mushroom Gorge!
I am SO happy that Mushroom Gorge, Kalimari Desert, and Waluigi Pinball are making their way over. I can't wait to see this game's rendition of the music.
Kalimari Desert? Excellent!
We got Waluigi Pinball. That’s all I wanted so now they can do whatever they want..
These look so good, now I'm even more annoyed that I can't get it because I have mk8 on Wii u
I am so hyped about this!!!!
Some great looking tracks, very excited to give them a try next week.
Didn't think this trailer showcased them especially well, it was a bit of a flat presentation, but the fun is in the racing and I can't wait.
Sky high Sundae looks like it's from the new Kirby game that's coming out. I could be wrong but it has a definite fallguys look about it.
Excellent selection! Also a nice surprise to see a completely new track (Sky-High Sundae) included - it is a very nice touch.
As a side note, is it just me, or the textures are MUCH improved compared to the wave 1 courses?
It might just be me, but the graphics look a lot better than wave one. Just me?
Whoo more ugly grass.
I'll hold off on judgement until I play them.
About time and some great tracks too
Looking forward to it!
Sky high sundae a brand new track!
With a new track along with the retro courses, basically anything goes now.
Mushroom Gorge > Waluigi Pinball.
Nice selection of tracks!
Also watch people still complain about the grass of all things.
Yeah, Waluigi Pinball is a really fun one! I like how they are including some new courses too - the Ninja Hideaway track from the first wave is one of the best MK tracks ever! I hope Skyhigh Sundae lives up to that.
@BrianJL It's a Booster Course pack, ofcourse there aren't any characters in it.
Yayyyyyy, finally!!!! I can't wait!
YOU BETTER BELIEVE I'M BELTING THIS TO MUSHROOM KINGDOM COME.
This looks incredible. Multiple Tour tracks (a brand new one that's about to be added to Tour at that!), banging music AND ******* WALUIGI PINBALL AND MUSHROOM GORGE AAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Mushroom gorge!!
Can’t wait! They look amazing! Side note - 5 months in between waves? That doesn’t add up to “by end of 2023” for the next 4 waves
Did I see some anti-grav in there?!!
This is where the fun begins.
Still waiting for N64 Wario Stadium
New York Minute looks kinda strange. What have they done to the poor thing in its 3 year captivity?
Anyway FINALLY!
@The_Pixel_King you did!!!!
@Supertiefighter If you really want you can just get a bunch of custom stages/characters for Mario Kart wii and wii u.
Good selection of tracks, Kalimari desert is my favourite from N64 Mario Kart, Waluigi pinball is amazing too (Can't wait to see it in HD, the 3DS screen is a bit... lacking), the Sydney and New York tracks look fun too, i love tracks in cities.
All in all well worth the wait.
The remastered music for Waluigi Pinball is SO GOOD! I'm really loving the attention they gave to that track, so excited to play it again!
Also excited for Kalamari Desert, and the rest look pretty good to alright.
Good set of tracks (though I'm kinda disappointed that they're not going with SNES Mario Circuit 2, as I always liked the little jump at the end of it). Really excited to try out New York Minute.
Whoop whoop……massive hype…..EIGHT tracks to master instead of the 4 they gave out last time
My week is now racing toward 4th August
Happy to see my finger wagging paid off. You're welcome, folks!
I'm just here for Waluigi Pinball~
seriously why did this take so long when all of these tracks were datemined ages ago
Yessss Waluigi Pinball let's go
I've come to the conclusion that Wave 2 is not late... it was that Wave 1 was early!
Wave 2 Aug 22
Wave 3 Dec 22
Wave 4 Apr 23
Wave 5 Aug 23
Wave 6 Dec 23
Ergo, Wave 1 should have been April 22 !
So Sky-High Sundae will technically be the first new track on Switch?
YASSS WALUIGI PINBALL!
@KBuckley27 At six waves through 2023, I'd expect 4-month gaps between releases in general..
@mariomaster96
When did they say, the Booster Pack will only contain retro courses?
It would be very fitting for me to buy Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which was released on the release of the Switch, at the end of the Switch’s life cycle.
I’m probably buying it finally. These new booster tracks are enticing and just what the game needed.
@MichaelP On the official Nintendo site: "A total of 48 remastered courses from throughout the Mario Kart™ series are racing to the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game as paid DLC."
Very good lineup. Not a stinker in the bunch, imo.
I wonder if the extra time was to make the tracks look better? I know many players were mix on the tracks appearance and aesthetics.
Personal, the tracks look fine. I'm just happy to see more tracks coming to the game. ^^
@MichaelP The announcement trailer in February said "Remastered courses from the Mario Kart series are coming"
@RR529 as a kid I LOVED Mario Circuit 2.
My favorite thing to do was plant a banana or shell in the exact path the CPU would go just before the ramp, and watch the bottom screen with glee as the CPU character hit the item and botched the ramp. And even more happy when the same character kept failing every time after for some odd reason even without the sabotage
The MK Tour tracks look a little graphically deficient. I remember Paris and Tokyo getting a bit of criticism for the low quality visuals, so I am sure that'll be the case here. But my gosh, Waluigi Pinball looked fantastic.
I am not a stickler for graphics, so I'll take it!
Might be high time to jump on this. I do not have a spreadsheet or anything like that to prove my observations but I lost interest in playing this game a while ago because I only play online and I swear it would be the same 10ish tracks I'd have to race over and over again.
Waluigi pinball was my top pick for tracks i wanted so i am very happy right now
Still no Double Dash love? Boo. Dino Dino Jungle and DK Mountain!
Otherwise, I'm happy.
Looks like Zero G / Hover racing is back where you bump into each other for a boost, I don't think that was in the first 8 right? Yay!
Looks amazing. I'm excited to race on Sky-High Sundae, Waluigi Pinball, and Mushroom Gorge the most.
The sundae one is unique, excited to try it out and hope it also comes to tour
@sanderev I didn't mention characters.
It's already felt stale for me as waiting for something like this was not something that made me get hyped. 🙁
I have decided to keep busy with my backlogs or other games to entertain me.
Excuse me, i'm playing Youtubers Life PS4 right now....
@Picton123 What do you mean, they released 8 tracks last time. Each wave is 8 tracks.
Now i will buy the expansion. Will have 16 fresh tracks to play with the fam. Good price on cdkeys too.
@CapitalQ
You're right. So Nintendo basically lied to us? 😆
I looked back at the trailer again and Sky-High Sundae has anti-gravity! I'm glad the feature is being used in Wave 2!
Can't help but feel the number of courses from each past game is becoming less balanced.
Also
OMG MUSHROOM GORGE WALUIGI PINBALL A NEW COURSE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
This wave looks insane. The visual quality of the tracks looks a lot nicer than wave 1 and the track selection is just way nicer. I’m excited to try these all out!
Sky-High Sundae looks like another track from the Sweet Sweet Canyon area or the Sweet Sweet Kingdom battle arena. Maybe a frozen region of those tracks.
I really don't like mushroom gorge and waluigi pinball, but I'm happy for all of you because everyone's been wanting this for SO LONG!
Sidney is my least favorite tour track...but also A LOT of people who loved that one!
Add a snes track and we've got a very "meh" set for me, but a really amazing set for the rest of the crowd. So they've done a great job with these so far!! (I love that tour players also get something new and exciting to play every time! ) ❤️
The voice over actress even said "Waluigi Pinball" like she knew the masses have been waiting for this announcement.
Kalimari Desert and Mushroom George are releasing as DLC on my Birthday!?
(what's with Nintendo releasing Free Updates and DLC on my Birthday recently. )
I'll defiantly will get these after August though. (as i've already plan to get Soul Hackers 2 pre-order on my birthday.)
But, i am very happy to see two of my favorite tracks are coming to Mario Kart 8.
Good selection of courses though disappointed about no Double Dash. Most excited for Snow Land as Super Circuit generally gets avoided when it comes to retro tracks (e.g. only 2 in MKWii, only 1 in MK7, only 1 in MK8 Wii U before April 2015 DLC). It looks very much like the original track which is very good (Sky Garden's massive simplification was disappointing).
@chapu2006 It's somewhat more, somewhat less balanced. The current totals are:
So the biggest unbalance is that there hasn't been any Double Dash courses since April 2015.
@Grumblevolcano At the very least, it's likely we'll get Daisy Cruiser and Dino Dino Jungle eventually based on what's in Tour. They're both popular tracks, so I doubt Nintendo would pass on including either.
@Jevarel That’s exactly what I thought!
Ha!!!! I told you all it was going to be an August release to reset the calendar so that it ended in December 2023. Ha!
@FoxyDude Would you like to listen to it early?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdaX5iX0ZaU
(I remember feeling a major sense of deja vu listening to it in the trailer, trying to remember where I had heard it before and, lo and behold, the answer had been staring me in the face these past 8 years and I just never made the connection XD)
The release interval on these is far longer than I expected. I hope this 2nd wave is better than the 1st. I didn't think the tracks were as bad as some of the reviews, but they weren't great either. If this wave is also lackluster, then it's evident this is meant to be just a cash grab and not a true continuation of the current game. I think we're all assuming they're putting the A team on MK9 instead.
Hype hype hype. Can't wait for these. Some awesome retro course in this pack.
Very happy to see Waluigi Pinball, obviously!
Also it's nice to see one of the OG Mario Kart tracks in there, in higher def.
@Ade117 I think it may be to do with gradual difficulty, much like wave 1 most of these tracks are Mushroom/Flower and we already have Baby Park and Dry Dry Desert. If wave 3 moves to Flower/Star maybe we end up with something like Daisy Cruiser + Waluigi Stadium in that wave to bring GCN up to 6.
@Grumblevolcano You're right. I believe that aside from Waluigi Stadium, either Mushroom Bridge or Mushroom City was datamined. Maybe the Double Dash enthusiast in me is being irrational, but I can see one Double Dash track per wave in the remaining waves.
MUSHROM GORGE!
As always I am most interested in the tour tracks since I have never played those. Should be a fun time!
@Grumblevolcano That's it. The DD courses. It's such a small thing but it really bothers me for some reason.
Who cares about ugly grass!?! It's Mario Kart, not Lawnmower Simulator
I hope that Kalimari Desert 2 is built into Kalimari Desert in at least one of the laps.
After meticulously coming through the footage and screenshots like a madman, I have to say...THIS LOOKS LIKE A MAJOR VISUAL GLOW-UP FROM THE FIRST WAVE!! A lot of these tracks look as good as if they were in the base game! They actually have TEXTURES! Hallelujah! Kalamari Desert in particular looks indistinguishable to me from the rest of the pack. I expected some very basic orange sand with few to no textures, but it looks like a real desert! I'm so pleased!! Not getting my hopes up, but it'd be nice if they updated the courses from the first wave. Maybe the extra polish is why we had to wait so much longer than expected. Next Thursday can't get here fast enough!!!!!
Ugh another repulsive sweets themed course, though thankfully doesn't seem quite as vomit inducing as Sweet sweet canyon.
Kalimari Desert, Mushroom Gorge and Waluigi Pinball are all nice to have, the first two especially so, love those stages.
@Grumblevolcano The whole time I thought Moo Moo Meadows was a remake of the N64 track. I completely forgot about Mario Kart Wii.
Oh yeah! Waluigi time!!!
Neat, I'm actually disappointed by the lack of 'thanks, I hate it' remarks in the comment sections. People seem to be actually grateful.
@Grumblevolcano I was a bit taken aback by "Melody Motorway," lol. So that's what you call Music Park in Europe? It's a bit of a tongue-twister, but it's a much cooler name. I kinda wish they named it that over here as well.
Hyped for Waluigi Pinball! Easily the GOAT of all Mario Kart tracks. I hope they add Wario Stadium or Bowsers Castle from 64 next.
Hmmm I've never seen sky high sundae or walugi pinball before.
@sikthvash Except the textures look waaaaay better in this pack! You can tell they put a lot of extra polish in these! I was a little disappointed with the visuals in the first pack, but I have nothing to complain about this time around. Looks gorgeous!
Warrio Colosseum. Please.
@Fizza omg I totally forgot they just reused the same song lol. I guess the stage in combination with the music this time just really set off my nostalgia moreso than just the song itself
Waluigi Pinball is easily in the top 5 GOAT MK tracks. Can't wait!
A much better selection of tracks this time around, and the Sydney track might just spur me to bite the bullet on the DLC, though I still strongly resent it.
But this wave's sole original track may just be the best one of all.
sigh How I wish they had saved all of these for Mario Kart 9.
A nice happy birthday surprise for me.
anti-grav? Damn . That and underwater bring down the experience a bit for me in mk8. Nintendo doesn't always need a gimmick, but they think they do.
Still, looks amazing and happy for more tracks that won't get chosen via the online roulette even when 11/12 people vote for them.
Edit: Looks like it's only the new Sundae track with anti-grav. Can't complain too much then
Holy Yes! Walulgi pinball YES SIRR
So glad we're getting Waluigi Pinball. Just waiting for Maple Treeway and I'll be a happy boi
@Picton123 there were 8 tracks included in wave 1 as well
If you pay attention to the bottom right when Sky High Sundae comes up, it says it will be coming to MK Tour in a future update. I assume they designed it for Tour and it is coming to it fairly soon but they just decided to release this first?
That's a great selection of tracks, especially Waluigi Pinball. Now it just needs MK7 Rainbow Road, and then it'll all be perfect for me.
Next up on the announcement docket: Mario Party Superstars DLC, new DLC characters for Mario Strikers, Kirby's Dream Buffet release date/announcement of Kirby's 30th anniversary legacy collection.
Also in August, we'll probably see a Splatoon 3 direct soon, a Pokemon presents (historically they tend to hold an even in August), and an Indie World Direct.
All this will cumulate with Splatoon 3's release in early September and a full fat Nintendo Direct in late September. Overall, a pretty solid event calendar to look forward to.
And just like that, Xenoblade's marketing period ends and we're on to the next thing. There are some great courses in there, though. I'll have to pick up the DLC at some point.
@nocdaes
I avoid leaks and data mines to avoid spoilers. I hope the dataminer is wrong about the n64 tracks because I will be truly disappointed. Wish I hadn’t read your comment 😔
Nice set of courses. These 8 new ones adding to the previous 8 we got already equal to one new Mario Kart game. Hopefully they got Shyguy Beach (GBA), Rosalina's Ice World (3DS), Daisy Cruiser (GCN), Dino Dino Jungle (GCN), Yoshi Desert (GBA), Delfino Square (DS), Bowser Castle 2 (Super NES), Bowser Castle (N64), Bowser Castle 3 (Super NES), and Bowser Castle 4 (GBA) for future wave race.
Waluigi pinball let’s go! These stages look like such fun! Can’t wait!
Love the SNES courses. The most difficult and fun courses!
@DarthXenos I admit my mistake…..just been waiting for MK news for to long and suffered a brain fart
@DjinnFighter I admit my mistake…..just been waiting for MK news for to long and suffered a brain fart
@Not_Soos Yeah, MK7 had some courses where the names were different between Europe and America:
As jazzed as I am for the return of Waluigi Pinball and Mushroom Gorge, it's Sky-High Sundae that has my attention the most; especially since there wasn't much indication before that the Booster Pass would include brand-new courses. Makes me wonder what else they might have in store...
Waluigi gets some love!...Just not in Smash.
Looking forward to the time trials. A new track is a nice surprise and maybe not the last one. Never played Waluigi Pinball, so I am excited to find out how great it is. Sidney and New York seem great too. My favourite of this wave propably is Kalamari Desert.
only one I predicted right was mushroom gorge lol. snowland and sky high sundae r big surprises, also waluigi pinball is obviously the winner here
God it looks bad ...To each their own of course, but for me the pure Nintendo AAA quality and amazing wow factor of Mario Kart 8 is just sucked out of all of these, replaced by the cheap and lifeless corporate husk of Tour with an eyesore of a mobile- based art style. I guess it looks slightly better, but it's still just ...eww.
Again though, I know people really love these. Just my very personal opinion.
They fixed the textures!!!! Thank you nintendo for listening this time. Sky high sundea looks super fun.
This wave checked some really great tracks off of my personal wish list (Kalahari Desert, Waluigi Pinball, Mushroom Gorge) and even managed to throw in a brand new offering (Sky High Sundae). Maybe the latter is partly why this wave took longer than expected to arrive, but suffice to say I am pleasantly surprised by the end result. Looking forward to playing all of these tracks and then speculating on what might come in the next wave (Maple Treeway or Dino Dino Jungle, anyone?).
@Jooles_95 It could be, but it could even be that this time there are tracks with much less grass and rocks (basically the two worse textures of the first DLC). This time we have desert, a pinball that is metallic, an ice circuit, a sweet land... if you watch carefully, Mushroom Gorse's grass is not that different than the one in the wave 1 courses, it's just less.
Nice. Time to boot up Mario kart 8 again and again and again
@Grumblevolcano Interesting. Alpine Pass and Piranha Plant Pipeway also sound way better to me. Koopa City and the Wuhu tracks don't sound as appealing in the European version, though. I'm pretty neutral on Wario's Galleon/Shipyard. Neither is a bad name. Really, Piranha Plant Slide isn't bad either, but Pipeline has the nice alliteration and is more accurate to the theming of the track. Rock Rock Mountain and Koopa City are just lame names, imo. It's weird how mixed I feel on the localizations, lol.
I see a pattern here: a city track in every cup... There are 11 so far in Tour, maybe soon we will have a new and final course in Tour.
Also: a "new Tour" track in every wave... Ninja Hideaway in W1, Sky-High Sundae (they will add it to the next tour in MKT). We are missing Merry Mountain (maybe in W3 for Holidays?). Hope we can have 3 new tracks too.
This proves what I said YESTERDAY..... (yes I was off by 1 day, it will thursday, not wednesday).......
" Bearzilla823Yesterday, 9:03am
I am going out on a limb here and say we will get them next Wednesday. This would reset the expected dates so that they fall in Aug., Dec., May, Aug., and lastly Dec. 2023"
the datamine that showcased what series the tracks are from, before release
it still holds up, i checked
@Silly_G Mario Kart Tour IS 9, they've established this fact since the Booster Course Pack announcement.
Now I'm just waiting on DS Airship Fortress...
Yay! I’m not going to watch the trailer, I want to play the tracks unspoiled. Obviously I’ve played some of them before but this will be the first for many of them in HD.
Nice track choices. Sky High Sundae being an actual new track was also a positive surprise.
@Olliemar28 you told them!
I really wish they'd reduce the number of MKTour tracks, but oh well. I think they'll still be fun.
@Ade117 it is!
Awesome news, I'm looking forward to playing through these tracks.
@Grumblevolcano @citizenreed luckily daisy’s cruiser has just been added to tour, so beig chance we’ll see it in one of the next waves…
Great tracks. Snow Land is a big surprise. I hope we get more GBA tracks in the future.
@Expa0 I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks the same about sweet sweet canyon! Something about the underwater (syrup) part gets me 🤢
@Bearzilla823 22 is the year as in 2022. Not the date!
Still waiting on the patch for the DLC in general.
All of these great and I can’t wait to play them! Except for Mario Circuit 3, what made them think that was a good idea? this DLC pass is not the time to bring back a bland track such as that.
Obviously I'm glad this shiz is finally coming out, but they're going to need to REALLY pick up the pace if they're going to meet their declared release timeline of end of 2023 for all the waves.
Exciting! But I expected Waluigi Pinball to get a new mix more based on arcade chiptune rather than the techno remix in Wario Stadium.
I mean, of all the courses in Mario Kart 8, that had to be the only one to share the same music :/
Still nothing from my wishlist yet, but glad to see SNES Mario Circuit 3 again.
@nocdaes Sorry dude I thought you were posting dates not years, my bad.
@Bearzilla823 No worries mate!
I'm glad kalmari desert was added. that is a good track. I hope Peach Beach, DK Mountain, DK Summit and Wuhu Island get added next.
Kalmai Desert, Mushroom Gorge and Waluigi Pinball alone make this whole pack well worth it. Can't wait to jump back in.
@KryptoniteKrunch this pass gets better as we go along. We have amazing courses like Coconut Mall, Choco Mountain, Shroom Ridge, Ninja Hideaway, Kalimari Desert, Waluigi Pinball, Sydney Sprint, Mushroom Gorge and even more!
the 4th couldn’t come sooner!
