Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection has been announced for the Switch and will be making its way to the console in 2023.
Originally launched for the GBA, the collection will feature 10 games in total, with additional extras such as a gallery and a music mode with over 150 songs from across the series.
The game will launch physically with all 10 games included, however digital versions will be split into Volume 1 and Volume 2 and be sold separately.

I love how many collections Mega Man has. As someone who only got into the franchise this generation, it's made catching up easy. More franchises should take this approach.
i wish they wouldn't use that antialiasing filter when announcing, but its very exciting to see all these back. wonder how they'll handle link cable content, boktai stuff, etc.
@Ade117 capcom makes a mean collection when it isn't download codes
OMG!! 😮
I have never expected 10 Megaman Battle Network from GBA in English version will be released on Nintendo Switch ! 😃
I have never played any of them so this is very great news for me to get all of them with reasonable price.
Btw, please tell me if this game will have PS4 / PS5 version in physical release too.
Honestly always found it weird they didn't do these before the Zero ones since Battle Network is definitely the bigger subseries of the two.
This got me really excited!
Yessssssss! LESSGO
The DS version of 5 is noticeably absent, which it has its own unique features and improvements plus a remixed soundtrack.
That said, I am SO excited that this is finally happening!
@Royalblues Maybe the second collection with have the DS game as a bonus?
just wish they have the megaman exe X starforce on this too...
Probably the highlight of the Direct for me. Looking forward to importing the physical release from the US, because it definitely ain’t coming to Australia.
I've never played any of these games - this kind of genre is not usually to my taste so I never gave them a try... but I own all the other Megaman compilations and they are a great value way to get legal copies of otherwise expensive games, and have them all in one place. Might have to pick this up to give them a try and see if they can convert me...
YES!! I've wanted this for yEaRs, finally! This whole Direct was honestly very good!
I love all of these, although the second volume is going to be a much better collection if you had to pick one.
Capcom can't stop winning with their collections
I cannot believe this is real. Hasn't someone in the forums been asking for this for the past few months? I can't believe they finally got their wish! I might have to get these once they come out because I've never played any of them and a Mega Man RPG sounds really exciting.
I’m honestly ashamed that as someone that was born in the early 2000’s that I never played this series. Well.. time to redeem myself!
Great news but I kinda hoped for Megaman Starforce and Network transmission to be included (as well as BN 4.5 )
This is so exciting, now I just need to hope they don't forget about Network Transmission (not a great game I know but I still had fun with it). Actually this has me thinking there are still a few megaman games that are left out of collections:
Legends 1&2
Megaman Power Battle Arcarde games (wouldn't know about them if it weren't for the anniversary collection)
Gameboy Megaman Series
Gameboy Color Megaman Xtreme
Megaman Soccer
Megaman & Bass.
The list goes on.
I already have so many Mega Man collections for Switch, but keep em coming! It's nice to see a physical version will be available. An easy day 1 pick-up!
Really looking forward to this, I never played any of these, but I really like Mega Man.
Oh heck yeah, this is awesome. Mega Man might not be big enough to get a whole lot of sequels nowadays, but keep the back catalogue coming. Hopefully Legends will get a rerelease someday.
But what about Legends!? I need it!
I never liked Battle Network, but is it weird if I want to purchase just to help keep Megaman on Capcom’s mind?
So excited for this! This was my childhood Mega Man and I only ever got to play a couple of them. Can’t wait for this to launch!
Crossing my fingers for online battles & chip trading🤞
I’ve never played a single Battle Network game, and I’ve played a lot of GBA games back in the day. Tempted to try this out.
I'm so excited, I have them all already, but I'd love to play them on Switch since I use it the most. I hope there's online functionality!
This was easily the biggest and best surprise (considering everything else was leaked or super obvious)!
I got so very excited when this popped up in the Direct! MMBN was my favorite GBA series barring Pokemon, and I'm so excited to be able to play them again! My SP and DS both have problems, so its hard to play my original carts, but this will be great for replaying!
Nintendo should take note of this, this is how you make money. I’ll have this physically for sure, there’s some meat on them bones!
Legit wracking my brain trying to figure out how they're gonna split these up between the 2 volumes.
Are the different versions like Pokémon, i.e the same campaign with few variations, or are they really distinct?
As a long time Mega Man fan this is the announcement that excites me the most. Did not expect them to announce this at all.
Wasn't expecting so much but they were actually really good, I'll be happy to dive in again in this games.
10 games physical in one cartridge. So it was feasable after all. Yet they didn't do it with the most emblematic titles.
So it's finally all in one cartridge, so what was their issue with the NES and Super NES MM/MMX collection? Was it really that difficult to put them all on one cartridge? Anyways glad it's coming, this one just pop out of nowhere so those who never got a chance to play all ten here's your chance to do so.
@TYRANACLES It's not up to Nintendo, the Pokemon Company or any dev for that matter had to agree to make compilation for that to ever happen.
Very exciting but this game really needs multiplayer. Please Capcom, please give us the option to battle online for MMBN 3!
Wow I didn't know they made 10 of these. I always wanted to try this series but never got around to it. This is wonderful news.
@Moroboshi876
Each GBA ROM was like 8MB tops.
Although this release looks like they're doing a hybrid native resolution + high-res art change. Battle chip artwork looks to be using the original full quality illustrations.
Nice! I know some folks have been hoping for this.
I was afraid we were never going to get ports of games that shared assets with older anime. These releases usually only coincide close to a Anime release. This gives me hope that Sakura Wars, the snes Sailor Moon games, the snes Tenchi Muyo Game, Yu-Gi-Oh! Falsebound Kingdom, the original .hack games, and past Gundam Games may also get ported.
On another note... I still want that Xenosaga port for Nintendo.
...what about...MM Legends...? *sniff
Best part of the Direct.
Dang, that's a lot of game for one collection. I've been running the Mega Man series and I was sure I'd have to skip these. Now all we need is a legends collection and we can tie a bow on this thing.
@RupeeClock But are you suggesting that the original Mega Man games didn't fit into the tiniest 8GB Switch cart? I think they did, and as a matter of fact Japan has a box of all these Legacy titles in carts, no downloads required.
They forgot MegaMan battle chip challenge
So that leaves Mega Man & Bass (GBA) and Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge (GBA) as only Mega Man games stuck on Wii U VC when the eshop shuts down.
@Moroboshi876
There are more complexities to the other releases that aren't present with this collection.
The 10 games (6 games, 4 with 2 versions) featured in this collection are all Game Boy Advance games from a single development team. There is no added complexity of having to work with other development staff or additional systems.
For the classic Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2, the first collection was developed by Digital Eclipse and only features the NES games, whereas the second collection was developed by Capcom themselves and features an SNES game, a PlayStation 1 game, and two games originally released in digital format for WiiWare, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live.
Further, the second collection was developed at a later time.
As for Mega Man X Legacy Collections 1 and 2, I don't really get what gives, other than that the original games for the first X collection are much, much smaller than the PS1 and PS2 games featured in the second.
I just want a Legends collection.
@Anti-Matter NintendoLife normally doesn't mention when a game is coming to non Nintendo platforms. The biggest exception is when it's a game announcement with no platforms confirmed yet. Otherwise, they'll normally only mention the Switch version in the article. Capcom's official website states it's coming to Switch, PS4 and PC.

@Zeropulse those arcade games are gonna be available in the new Capcom Arcade Stadium thing.
Glad they learned their lesson from the first MM Legacy Collection. I’m still looking for the physical cartridge in GameStop pre-owned sections.
@Fizza Hahah that would be me, plus @FX29 along with a bunch of other people who have wanted this since Capcom made the very first Megaman collections! Although I also keep asking for FFXIIOnline even though that will never ever happen but would be amazing.
@Serpenterror that’s not what I’m getting at. I’m saying Nintendo should not lay to rest so many of their great trademarks. Nintendo has a very large catalogue beyond what we normally get that they could give the green light on.
@Screen Battle Network 3 Blue version is the best one actually. Tons of content, tough boss fights, and huge post-game content. Really challenging dungeon areas and brand new bosses after you complete the storyline. Also has some of the tightest combat mechanics, since each game mixes up the formula.
@Fizza I was one of those asking for this! Battle Network is a great series. The only thing this collection is missing is Network Transmission, which is MMBN-based but operates like a platformer from the Classic/X/Zero/ZX series.
@RupeeClock I can understand that retro collections, which I absolutely love, are more complex than just dumping roms. What I'm saying is these Mega Man collections are physical in Japan, all of them, but in the West we have partial mandatory downloads. That's a decision made in Capcom, it's the usual Western treatment, but surprisingly enough they're gonna shift with these new release. It's good news, but it leaves you feeling sad for what could have been done better.
I've been looking forward to this, as I was considering getting them on the Wii U, but now I'll just get this instead!
@Moroboshi876
Reportedly, Capcom are going to skip a physical release for Europe once again.
This is really annoying, forcing me to import US copies of a game that I would totally support a local physical release of, but at least an option for a physical release does exist this time around.
I'm aware of the annoying physical release patterns of Mega Man series games on the Nintendo Switch, often only released partially as digital downloads in America, and in the case of Mega Man Legacy Collection 2; only ever available physically in Japan as part of a 5-in-1 collector's edition box!
I have said box and am really pleased to have it.
After playing One Step From Eden on switch I went and tried the first battle network on Wii U and loved it but held off buying the pile in the hopes we’d get a collection and booooooom
Finally the Battle Network side of Megaman is getting some love.
@Krambo42 I did not know that. That just became a must buy for me. Thank you so much for the info!
Atleast i can just trick myself that this is just one more collection away from getting Legends...
That's a lot of game for your buck. Just in time for me to not download some from the eshop, just get the physical version on Switch!
I wonder though: Some of these games had 2 versions, Pokemon-style. Will that also be the case here?
If Capcom re-releases their whole Mega man library I guess they will also do those 2 titles after this collection (I forgot the name, but they where also turn-based rpg's).
Sad news guys: American retail version (Europe most likely won't have one) will only have volume 1 on the card. Volume 2 requires a download.
@Henmii I'm guessing your browser had an issue loading the image, because there is an image included in this article showing off the logos of 4, 5, and 6, Pokemon style, both games included.
Am I the only one who despises this split release stuff? Can’t they just fit all 10 in one cart or 1 download? It’s just an OCD thing but also… genuinely, why do they do this? To also split the price in half and make it more enticing?
I def liked this series over the typical MegaMan games. Really cool how big of a collection it is too. Very Nice. honestly tho, I don't see a reason why they can't have them all on one cart. Other than cash grab.
Great games! I still have 6 almost mint CIB. Hopefully they are cheap.
Great news, MMBN is one of my favourite series. I have the original games and the VC ones on Wii U, replay them occasionally and everytime I love them just as much as I remember.
Fun fact, I was already a huge MM fan during the NES and SNES days but MMBN became my favourite Mega Man series.
I am a little bit worried about Network Transmission and Command Mission though, these games did not get a spot in the various collections. They don't deserve to get lost in time so I reallly hope they get some sort of remaster on modern platforms.
Then there's Star Force, which IMO is every but as fun as Battle Network. Especially MMSF3 which places right next to MMBN3 as the best games in this style. Fingers crossed Capcom can make Star Force work on a single screen system without a touch screen, it would need some workarounds for sure.
I never played these but I remember the anime. Funny how then it was futuristic and now it's funny that they need to plug in their devices.
I been looking forward to this game. I’ll be getting it when comes out.
I hope they remove some of the grind, 6 rpg's is alot of work
So, 10 GBA games, most are fantastic, but probably worth £2 each at most. So around £40 at launch?
Also, surely its pointless getting multiple versions on the same card, the Red Sun / Blue Moon for example, are pretty much the same game with a few unique bits, like Pokemon
@Zeropulse Mega Man Gems Collection when Capcom
@AndyRogan
You're really under-valuing the software, the Wii U VC versions of each game individually sell for £6.29 each.
Overall this is a cool collection, though it is incomplete without the DS version of 5, Battle Chip Challenge, and Network Transmission. Still for a core collection it's pretty solid. I'll still get it
Mostly complete.
Doesn't contain the Rockman.EXE 4.5 (whatever that was). Or the GameCube platformer. Or the WonderSwan Color game(s?).
I also don't know what the deal with BN3 was.
It was one game in Japan, but split for the western market, and then Japan got a Pokemon-style "third version" of it.
@AndyRogan The people buying the GBA carts (especially the English versions) would disagree with you on that price estimate!
@Knuckles
Thanks for the heads-up!
Great announcement. My hope for seeing legacy collection all in one cart re release reignites or legacy 2 without the collection.
Very excited. I've been looking at picking these up on original hardware for a while, some are quite expensive! I never had copies of my own and always borrowed neighbors carts to play, despite not really knowing anything about Megaman. All I knew was that he was super cute, and that I loved the artstyle which is still true. Can't wait to snag a physical copy.
I'm getting closer to my dream of having every Mega Man game on Switch
I already have a version of each game (BN5 physically, the others on Wii U VC, plus Network Transmission AKA Battle Network 1.5 on the GameCube), and the extras are lame, so I have no reason to double dip. It's great for those who are new to the "Battle Network" sub-series, though.
It's a shame they didn't include "Network Transmission," though, as it actually has the best gameplay (and naturally, the best graphics) in the entire sub-series.
@somebread It annoys the bolts out of me when they do that. It makes the games look less appealing I would say.
I hope this leads into a Star Force collection (1, 2, 3 and the BN remake which is around 8 games all together)
Its a shame the 2 collections, or at least the physical version wasn't separated so 2 people can buy each and play the opposite version to each other.
If I play BN3 Blue, I'm not going to play BN3 White as well, but my daughter would, so we can trade
