If you love stories about wizarding schools, but find yourself looking for a new one recently for whatever reason, then perhaps divert your attention over to Spells & Secrets, an upcoming 3D action-adventure game set in a magical school for gifted teen witches and wizards.
Spells & Secrets takes place in the castle of Greifenstein, which you will be able to explore as your own custom character (and with a friend in local co-op) to find new clues about the world, and powerful artifacts that can upgrade your character's powers.
The game will be entering into Early Access on Steam this Summer, and is destined for Switch some time in 2023. You can also back the game on Kickstarter if you're really keen on supporting new wizard school fantasy tales!
Does Spells & Secrets look like your kind of magical fantasy? Let us know in the comments!

Is it weird that I wish that the upcoming Hogwarts game had an art style like this? I am sorta bored by photo realism in games… it’s uncanny at least with characters not so much environments
This is unrelated, but if you want ANOTHER story involving wizarding schools, then I recommend watching The Owl House- it’s on Disney Plus.
How did I know that this was written by Kate the instant I saw the headline? It’s so funny.
I laugh at way too many of these Kate taglines
Any wizarding school is better than "the other one."
like Ikenfell? that was a great game.
this game looks great too. co-op sounds fun!
I've been following the development of this game for a while. And it looks like a game I'd enjoy playing, so I'm a backer.
I do hope the game actually releases, because a lot of games I backed on kickstarter never did.
Since article asks, not really my magical fantasy. Not sold on the artstyle. My type of magical fantasy would be more ecchi,. But for the moment, until my type is announced I think I rather wait on Hogwarts Legacy.
Looks interesting. If Hogwarts legacy on Switch does turn out like crap or a cloud version of that, we got this one instead (if it runs well on Switch ofc)
@dil_power I agree. I've been unattracted to photo realistic character games like forever.
This game looks kinda fun for $20 or less. Preferably $10. As it has that eShop game feel. But looks mechanically sound.
Feels like some rebirth of when Christian bands would show up to deliver their version of Nirvana or whatever. I'd rather just stick with the real thing.
The only native wizarding game the switch will be getting
Why would anyone play this when the real deal is coming as well?
They are already over 50% funded, it's going nicely.
What was that beautiful pixel art wizard game coming out? More akin to havest moon meets Stardew meets Harry Potter?
@tyranny_life Witchbrook! I’ve been wanting an update on it for ages. As far as I know it’s not confirmed for Switch but is still in development for PC.
Been seeing ads for this for like 2 years and they still
haven’t even run the kickstarter yet?
Hogwarts legacy comes out this year and will blow this out of the water. Just saying.
I had hoped it had Physical Switch...but only Digital...ugh..
@sanderev We will 100%
@Williamfuchs420 Hey, that's not possible! Our production has been running since last year . We have placed our first FB ads in February this year .
@roka_adrian I am happy to read that. And it does look really good and well prepared. So I'm not really worried.
Kickstarter has been a bit of a hit or miss for me. And more a miss than a hit though. Some of my favorite indie games came from Kickstarters. (Shovel Knight, Shantea Half Genie Hero, Bloodstained). But has also been a place of big let-downs. Mighty No. 9, even though in the end that did release. But wasn't as good as initially promised, and then multiple projects where there are still no releases or refunds and have been without news for multiple years.
@roka_adrian someone must be using a very similar animated wizard girl then cause i have seen that image for along time.
