Sonic's second movie outing is almost here, and in case you missed it, IDW is releasing an official "pre-quill" comic - linking together the first and second big-screen adventures of the blue blur.
It'll arrive in stores later this month on 23rd March for $6.99 USD, and contains five stories across 40 pages - with art from Tracey Yardley, Adam Bryce Thomas and Evan Stanley. And here's the really exciting announcement revealed by the comic's writer Keil Phegley - Robotnik's actor, Jim Carrey, was involved.
"If you need any more incentive to order a copy of Sonic The Hedgehog 2: The Official Movie Pre-Quill comic, the Robotnik story was spearheaded by the absolute G.O.A.T. Mr. Jim Carrey! It's really weird & dope."
A fan asked what exactly this meant, and Phegley explained how Jim sent the team a concept which was then transformed into a script with dialogue and some fantastic art:
"Hard to describe without spoiling anything, and I REALLY want people to enjoy the stories fresh. But basic is that Jim had a concept for Robotnik and sent us (via producer) a rough outline of about a page. I turned it into a 5-page script w dialogue etc, & the art team nailed it."
Are you looking forward to Sonic's second movie outing? Will you be seeking out this "pre-quill" comic? Tell us down in the comments.

"pre-quill" oh, Sega, give that guy a raise
IDW is doing really good things with the Sonic license, and I'm really excited because they recently teased the return of The Freedom Fighters!

An out-there Robotnik short story by Jim Carrey.. sounds interesting
@Spiders What good would that be on this site? Its just going to be a big heated debate and then it gets shut down, anyways.
I really like how Jim Carrey is invested in being Dr. Robotnik, it seems like he really enjoys it.
@CharlieGirl those were from the SatAm cartoon right?
@Anon69 Yup! They were also fan favorites from the Archie comics Sonic series, which ran from 1993 all the way to 2017!
Jim Carrey does have the kind of insane out there personality that fits robotnik. Just wish he fit the look better from the games. He's not even egg shaped or fat. Great wacky mustache though!
@Askalt Love him as robotnik
cool! I wont get it but happy for the people out there who are into this stuff
@Truegamer79 To be fair, his mustache is more symbolic than his body.
@NatiaAdamo Well, he's called Eggman because he's shaped like an egg. He's not called Crazy 'Tacheman.
