It seems that Nintendo of America's president — the one and only Doug Bowser — has written to a cub scout troop recently to congratulate them on earning the "Arrow of Light" rank. No, that's not a Zelda thing that the princess whips out to destroy Ganon once and for all (or until the next game), but is apparently the highest rank a Cub Scout can achieve before ascending to the next level of Scoutdom.
According to Tales From The Collection, the troop leader reached out Nintendo prior to the tangentially "electronic-themed" Blue & Gold Banquet event where the cub scouts would be awarded and requested congratulatory letters for six who were levelling up.
The leader, who posted the story on Facebook (which we're unable to find, unfortunately), reportedly only asked for a response from the company with an official Nintendo letterhead. However, he received back six letters each signed by the highest Nintendo honcho on the American continent with an uplifting message to boot.
As you can see in the picture above, each of the letters was accompanied by a Nintendo bookmark, too.
An encouraging message, and autograph from Bowser and a natty bookmark? Not bad, eh?
Let us know below which Nintendo exec you'd most like to receive words of encouragement from. A pep talk from Koizumi-san would do us the world of good.

Wow. Maybe we should have thought about that for my son years ago. He did earn the "Video Games" belt loop in Cub Scouts.
Like the duty of every underage character.
They must now go on a grand quest to save the world from various evils for they and ONLY they are the chosen heroes who can restore the peace...
...whether they like it or not.
That is really cool! Arrow of Light is the biggest honor you can get in Cub Scouts before graduating to Boy Scouts. Amazing achievement!
Bowser's praising the Koopalings.
Nice work, young guys.
Is a paragraph doubled in the letter?
Congratulations nonetheless

…You know what…I just want Reggie back : (
Having been in the Cub Scouts (and eventually the Boy Scouts) myself, I still have my Arrow of Light. Same with my brother.
@ClamDown yes reggie did a much better job! He made numerous appearances, and spent time with fans!
He's a long way to go to reach Reggie putting that Smash player in his place, but Doug is on the right track.
Good on Doug for taking the time to acknowledge the accomplishments of these young scouts. Still, the Boy Scouts of America organization as of late is a joke. They've basically relaxed their standards until they have none. So while I also congratulate these boys, and am an Eagle Scout myself, the BSA administration just isn't what it used to be.
@mike_intv haha, the requirements for that badge still list the Wii, Xbox and Playstation as the current consoles. https://www.boyscouttrail.com/content/content/cub_scouts_video_games_academics_pin_and_belt_loop-2035.asp
@Nico07
im curious, in what ways have the BSA lowered their standards?
personally I peaked at Webelos, but I did get my Arrow of Light 👍 it hangs on the wall over the back door of my house.
Still have my Arrow of Light plaque. Haha. And I'm an Eagle scout too. Maybe Doug will convince Square Enix to port Chrono Trigger to Switch in my honor.
Him and the No-name in charge of Nintendo jp now are the most nothing to awful presidents I’ve ever seen from a gaming company|:/
I miss Reggie and Iwata, god bless his soul..
I still can't believe that his name is Doug Bowser, was he born with this name or did he change it prior to him becoming president of Nintendo America? Doug is also a name that is the old cartoons in the 90s so the combination is so cool 😃😃😁👍
@-wc- They tried to redefine "boy scout" to include girl scouts as well which the Girl Scouts organization did not want. They also lost a huge base in religious groups by removing religious standards they have had for years. Shortly after they faced a large lawsuit for sexual assault allocations from thousands of former scouts. Really the organization is having an identity crisis and needs to regroup.
Nice work, make sure to keep going and earn some merit badges! But don't even try rifle. It's harder than it sounds if you haven't shot a gun before that point.
im not particularly scandalized by the girls in the boy scouts issue, and ive got no love for conservative christian values per se, but the sex assault allegations are truly damning. im actually surprised anyone sends their kids into scouts knowing how widespread the problem is.
in my troop, the leader made unsolicited and inappropriate sexual remarks TO my parents! They got me out of there quick, and I was on my way out anyway because of my alienation by the religious themes, which really ramped up in the transition from cub to boy scouts.
I do think there is alot of good to be found there, and i wish i had the useful skills and knowledge that an eagle scout gains from the program!
